from what I understand...RDJ said he'll keep doing them as long as the stories are written well and they keep moving the character forward...which makes sense to me.

That's industry-speak for, "As long as I'm paid more." And for at least one or two after this, I am sure Marvel will oblige.

My guess is that they'll offer him a higher cut of the films gross as incentive. There's only so much you can pay someone up front, even with big budget flicks like this. Personally I'd be satisfied if they just held off on any Iron Man flicks for a while and Just had Downey return for the Avengers 2 and 3.

Give him a lower pay check and a cut of the merch, much like Mark Hamil.
No matter the circumstances, I am sure something can be worked out. The MCU after all has resurrected RDJ's career, I am sure he feels some sort of loyalty for that. I know I would anyway. |

I agree with this. I have enjoyed his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in all the Marvel films he's appeared in.

I agree but I'm also quite prepared to see someone else play the role ONE DAY. Hopefully not for a while, but eventually RDJ won't be able to do it anymore and when that time comes I'll be quite happy to watch someone else be Stark.

That's nice and all but I don't want him doing it when he gets too long in the tooth for it.

he'll be fine for the next 6 years at least. he earned over 75 million from the avengers. there is no way he is turning down A2 and 3.

The general audience also has only a 5% interest in Iron Man and RDJ.

Right. Because the three films starring RDJ as Iron Man have barely caught the public's attention at all.

Don't have to be a fan of something to comment on it.
