Les Miserables and 'Jonas Brother' should never be in the same sentence. Ever.

And plus...just because a major famous Hollywood actor is stunt starring in something should not be grounds for a DVD. Do you know how many times a Broadway musical would have be to recorded and distributed on DVD for every time someone was stunt cast in one of these things?

I really would like to see the Idina Menzel/Kristin Chenoweth 'Wicked' production on DVD though.

There are some rumors floating around now about a new movie version with Dan...but those kind of rumors start up with these shows all the time, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I think with the Lincoln Center recordings they film the show after it's locked in previews, but you need special permission to view those. They're not available to the public.

Oh goodness, I know. I've gotta admit, that's the first place my mind goes when I get onto this topic. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, when I saw the pro-shot version of "Dancing Through Life" that I'd never seen before, I even started to wonder, "Are they gonna release the whole show bit-by-bit," in spite of myself. What can I say, hope springs eternal.

And speaking of Cheno, I'd LOVE to see the pro-shot of her version of The Apple Tree. I've always had a soft spot for that show.

I didn't realize he had so many pre-Jonas Brother Broadway credits: Les Miz (as Gavroche), Beauty & the Beast (as Chip), and Annie Get Your Gun (as Little Jake). He has a nice enough voice, but he was just way too young and that concert just ate him alive.

I feel bad for anyone who saw the show in London last year and had to see him play the full part.

I really hope they do. I have no doubt that it would sell very well.

I'd kill for that.

Either that or an animated movie starring them both. That avoids the whole "they look too old to play college students" issue. A fan actually storyboarded "Defying Gravity" and it's amazing

It's just my opinion. I think Wicked's vastly overrated and the only time it really ever truly shined was when it had two leads like Idina and Kristen in the roles.

I'm still not opposed to a recording of it, or a movie version though.

I've seen Wicked five times and never with Idina or Kristen.

I've only seen the OBC in (many, many) bootlegs. I've seen the show live without them, and I kinda agree with Bill. On its own, the show is merely ok. But with those two, it was magical.

And on a related note, Norbert Leo Butz has my favorite male voice on Broadway. It just makes me melt. The Last Five Years. I can't listen to any other Fiyeros (and there have been many talented ones).

I saw Idina in Rent 3 times too. And I saw Kristin in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.

I liked Wicked. I only saw it the one time back when it first opened. I almost saw it in London, but it was sold out the night we tried to go. I knew nothing about it going in, so I was pleasantly surprised. Even more so because I won the lottery for it.

When I was 14-15 I actually tried to do a production of Wicked with me directing (but everyone would have had a say in things) and starring as G(a)linda. We didn't even make it to rehearsals and then I found out about the whole "obtaining the rights" thing. But it wouldn't have been some half-assed thing. I had friends in the drama department and school band that would have helped me out with sfx and orchestra. It probably wouldn't have been astounding and professional, but it wouldn't have looked entirely cheap.

I did get to see Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp in Rent though.

And Hugh Jackman hosting that year.

He's doing a one-man show/concert in San Francisco for two weeks in May. I want a damn recording of that.

They have a nice space in Chicago and the production really rotates some nice talent. Nice to see up and comers.

Just got back from the city after seeing two shows today:

Saw How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which was GREAT. It was just a lot of fun. Daniel Radcliffe was terrific...he could sing and dance, he was totally adorable, his American accent was perfect, and he was funny as hell. Loved John Laroquette too - the scene with him and Daniel reenacting the football game together was one of my favorite parts of the show (the audience too, they went nuts for it).

They were collecting for BC/EFA after the show, and after Daniel finished the post-show speech, John Larroquette just looked at him and said "You're British?!?!?"

Then we saw Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark. All I can say is:

It was as historically bad as predicted. Luckily there were no problems with the flying or anything. Just everything everything else had problems.

I feel bad for the cast. They're all really talented, they're just stuck in this crap show. You know it's bad when no one claps after a song and one of the ushers starts clapping to get everyone going.

I'm so jealous you got to see HTS. I'm just glad there's a cast album coming with him. I'm going to buy the hell out of that.

It's such a shame "Turn Off The Dark" doesn't live up to its potential. What I've seen of the stunts is incredible. If only they put as much energy into an engaging story.

How to Succeed was sooooo good. Even after sitting through the dreck that was Spiderman I still couldn't get the H2S songs out of my head. It was just so much fun, everyone looked like they were having a blast.

Daniel was such a little cutie! And I do mean little...he is very short! He barely comes up to John Larroquette's shoulder. He also almost got nailed in the head with a box during "The Company Way." They're all tossing boxes around the mailroom and one went off and the guy caught it just in time.

The special effects in Spiderman were terrific. The flying was pretty cool and the stuff with the screens was particularly good. They just didn't spend any of that $65 million on anything resembling a coherent story.

Woah! That close call sounds scary.

If something had happened to Dan I would so have flown to New York and smacked whoever did it. Ok, not really, but I'd want to.
