It's summer, so the tourists are filling the place up. It's discounted on TKTS most nights, so it's easy to get in. They keep boasting about how much money they're making per week, but with the budget and the weekly operating costs they're never going to see a profit on it.

That theater is a barn, once tourist season ends, they won't be able to fill it like they are now.

I saw Colm Wilkinson in concert last week. Pretty good, but I didn't really like him doing rock and roll. Phantom was kind of a cheesy song to kick off with too; a more tub-thumping Irish song or something from South Pacific would have been a better choice.

I have to admit, I'm not the biggest Colm fan. He sings on consonants, and whenever he sings really loud, his vibrato is goat-like. That, and his Phantom just creeps me out, and not in a good way. He's always sounded his current age, and pair that with singing a song meant to seduce a teenager, that's just yuck. Also, it doesn't sound good. Naaah-eeeeeeght. PICK A VOWEL AND STAY ON IT.

There. Rant over.

I heard Phantom may leave Broadway. Is this true?

Not that I've heard. Love Never Dies was supposed to open here, but it looks like that is dead, since it didn't do well in London.

It sounded dreadful. And I loved Phantom, but I don't see where it ever needed a sequel.

It looks like I'm finally going to see Billy Elliot on Broadway this fall. I saw it in London twice a few years back, but I still haven't seen it in NY.

Music wise, Love Never Dies isn't that bad, except for anything Bathing Beauties related. Story-wise, it's a mess.

I've seen it 3 times, trust me it isn't the orignal Cast of Ramin and Serria where am amazing!

You know its still got the illuisions and tricks they do in Phantom, and Till I hear you sing and Love never dies are such beautiful songs, and I wasn't keen on this show and wasn't looking forward to seeing it, and when I did it proved me wrong its a very good show! It has lines and music and refrences to Phantom in it which are nice, and its a strong emotional show and so well sang and acted, give it a chance if you get to see it ever!

So after thinking a bit of the upcoming Les Miserables movie musical starring Hugh Jackman, I've tried thinking of other actors that can sing and possibly fit the roles.

So far all I've got is the
Thenardiers - Alan Rickman and Judi Dench. Of course there's more choices, but this is all I can think of for them at the moment.

Marius - Honestly, I think it could either go to Darren Criss, Daniel Radcliffe, or Hunter Parrish. Criss has got the Glee lovers, Radcliffe was a success on Broadway and is actually a really great singer, same goes for Parrish in Spring Awakening. They're in the age range I would hope the casting would go for.

Eponine - Lea Michele. What can I say, I'm a Gleek, but come on, it's so obvious she should get the role.

Enjolras - Kind of see him in the same age range as Marius if not a little older, as both are supposed to be students, so while I'm not trying to keep on bringing up Glee actors/guest stars, I do like Jonathan Groff for the role, as well as Aaron Tveit.

Other than Eponine, I'm not completely one track-minded for any of the roles, but I'm hoping they get an amazing cast who can sing, I really want a current musical movie to not have an obvious weak link in the cast in terms of singing.(Nine's Kate Hudson, though I loved her song; Mamma Mia's Pierce Brosnan; Repo!'s Paris Hilton; Hairspray's Amanda Bynes; Sweeney Todd's Ed Sanders and partially Helena Bonham Carter and Jayne Wisener; The Producer's Uma Thurman; Phantom of the Opera's Gerard Butler; etc.)
I mean I'm not counting the HSM movies, I'm keeping it more about stage to screen musicals.

Question for all of you. What's your favorite songs from any musical to sing? For me I find Sweeney Todd fun to sing. Mainly A Little Priest and No Place Like London.

Some of the most recent Les Miz casting rumors have Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter as the Thenardiers, and possibly Lucy Hale (from Pretty Little Liars, I think?) as Eponine.

The only confirmed I've heard so far is Hugh Jackman as Valjean, and that Anne Hathaway is definitely in talks for Fantine.

Lea does a great job on On My Own, I would love to see her get the part.

I'm not a singer in even the most remote sense...but lately I'm addicted to the entire cast album of The Book of Mormon, so I catch myself singing stuff from that all the time. Most of it I have to censor if my nephew is around.

Ah, I like this question:

Try to Remember (The Fantasticks)
Popular (Wicked)
For Good (Wicked)
Just One Look (Sunset Boulevard)
Whistle Down the Wind (Whistle Down ... you know)
Young and Healthy (42nd St)
Send in the Clowns (Little Night in Music)

So I finally saw Memphis this afternoon. It was great! Chad Kimball is out of the show, and Adam Pascal is taking over his role on 10/25, but the understudy filling in as Huey Calhoun was great. Montego Glover is still playing Felicia, and she was amazing! It was really fun show.

I'm hoping to catch Newsies at Papermill Playhouse, since it sounds like it's coming to Broadway next year. Heard it's terrific.

Went to see Phantom of the Opera 25th concert at the Royal Albert Hall last night, it was like a dream cast come true!
An amazing night and performances, if you didn't get a chance to see it at the cinema you have to amazing! I love the main leads, seem them in Lover Never Dies and you can see how much chemistry they have and just click so well, plus I've meet them before a couple of times very greatful and nice people!

Now I have to book tickets to see it in the west end again!

That is so cool that you got to see it live! My folks are seeing in the theater tonight.

This was really great of Disney/TDF to put together - a special performance of The Lion King on Broadway that was adjusted for kids with autism. These kids would not have been able to see the show otherwise:

I finally saw Billy Elliot on Broadway last night. It was great! Loved it just as much as I loved the London production.

And it wasn't that drastically different from the London show. They do have to explain the British miners strike a bit more, and the Angry Dance is amped up with projections on a breakaway billboard (we were in the front row, so that scene and "Electricity" were particularly amazing), and the audtion scene is totally different. I liked the London audition scene better.

There was also a big fuss recently that the language was getting dropped from the NY show (apparently it scares the tourists ), but I only noticed two words were changed. They still kept in all of the best f-bombs in the show - and there were plenty of them.

But I love that show. I can't believe that show is closing and Spiderman gets to stay.

Adam Pascal joins the cast of Memphis tonight. He sounds great in the press preview:

I may need to see Memphis again.
