Feige seems to indicate that the stuff in Odin's Vault was less significant than we were led to believe. The "missing" item is obviously the Cosmic Cube.

Yeah, shooting 'till September rules out a second 2012 movie. Sucks.

Whole lot of questions about their Namor approach. Would they drop him into the WWII period they're establishing with Captain America? Would he start the film as a scruffy homeless guy who cleans up and realizes he's the king of Atlantis?
Gotta say I've never really seen much of what Namor does when he's neither hanging out with the Invaders nor antagonizing the Fantastic Four (or other surface dwellers.)
You could get a movie out of trying to avert a war between Atlantis and the humans. Have Namor go berserk when a Roxxon rig explodes and starts gushing oil on his turf.

Glad to see Wakanda described that way. If they're doing this, I wanna see the techno-jungles and flying Kirby platforms and etc.

They've already got Thor of Asgard, they're developing Black Panther of Wakanda, Namor of Atlantis, Black Bolt of Attilan. There sure are a lot of regal Marvel characters with cool kingdoms (and a lot of characters who don't really have origins that fit the Stan Lee formula.)

Glad to hear they are actually thinking about doing a Namor film.

What's Namor's appeal? Really, I'm not trying to be mean. But I don't get it, I can't think of one single redeeming factor about him.

I admit that I don't really know much about him, but him being in the Avengers just makes it feel like lots of very different superheros coming together... like there's Iron Man the robot, Thor the god, so on, and then Namor is the underwater man

I think it would be in their interest to space a Namor and Black panther movie spaced out, from Thor as well. Thor felt really unique, but after three movies revolving around princes of fantastical lands, the concept may be wearing a little thin.

But then again, many successful movies are about fantastical lands, like Harry Potter, LOTR, Avatar etc. Namor could be fresh because it's underwater... but isnt the Avatar sequel doing that as well O.O

Most films of that size need to start a year and a half early at the minimum, so they're already in a mad rush just to meet their May release date. If they hit any production snags and need some re-shoots or pickups, their entire Marvel cast may need to assemble (sorry!) at any point between October and March for those shots.
Eh, I think the lack of a second 2012 film was kind of implied when Marvel pushed Runaways back a year because they were too busy as is.

Runaways is a bad idea for a film series. They have to cast kids as their leads. At the rate they're moving, those kids would turn into 20-somethings much faster than the Harry Potter cast did. If they want to do it at all, they should kick it over to their TV division.

With Avengers I don't think they need a 2nd 2012 film.

I agree that TV is likely a better home for Runaways.

But seriously, Namor's a strange character with a strange design whose publication history seems to grant him extra-dimensional powers. Just as anything Kirby created in the 60s is almost automatically going to win a fictional fight against anything created in the 80s or 90s, Namor's innate "awesomeness" is due largely to his appearance alongside the original Human Torch way back in Marvel Comics #1. He, the Torch, and Captain America are the "big three" of Marvel's 40s characters, and you might stick them together if you ever did an Invaders movie (which could make sense as a Captain America sequel.)

Check out Marvels by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross if you want to get a sense of the nostalgic appeal this character has for some. You'll also see some cool Ross paintings depicting an Atlantean invasion of Earth's surface, which is a direction they may go in if they do this character.

Namor's frequently a jerk. He's kind of an anti-hero. He's trying to do right for his kingdom ("the entire ocean") but he's a hotheaded, paranoid xenophobe. The Namor/Sue Richards/Reed Richards love triangle is...unfortunate.

Here's the short version: maybe he's, like, Conan the Barbarian underwater, with sea monsters.

Judging by Feige's comments, Ant-Man is most likely the next film to move forward. I'm guessing for a July 2013 release date?

About Namor, I always figured he was like a more pissed off Conan the King (who also existed in the MU), but underwater. The undersea kingdoms haven't changed all that much since the Hyborean age and there were still cults of Set from under the sea troubling the Avengers as of the late 80's/early 90's.

Does anybody have that image handy?
I haven't gotten the IM2 dvd yet so I haven't seen it.

There's also a close-up of it on the SHIELD data vault feature on the blu-ray

Not confirmed, but since it's shooting next year (and was originally slated to shoot last March) a 2013 release seems likely.

Namor is back with Marvel Studios? That's so awesome and great to hear. With Iron Fist, Dr. Strange and now Namor Marvel is really set with characters that can bring out epic films. You have Iron Fist and his world of K'un-Lun backed with kung-fu mysticism, it can really be a martial arts epic. Dr. Strange and the magic side of the MU where he tackles the supernatural. Namor can really be an underwater epic, I love the idea of seeing a whole world underwater.

Not to mention all three of these characters have a history with eachother which is cool.

In one of Feiges latest interviews he says there may be intros to other characters to gauge interest. Unfortunately I read that at CBM.
