I have to disagree there. Personally, I use Ma and Dad and I live in NY.

Besides, the Kents ARE a bit "hick-like". They're farmers from Kansas for crying out loud.

From all the set pics, it looks like they're not shying away from a more realistic depiction of farmers. This isn't the CW Smallville Hollywood version. It looks like the Kents will actually look lower middle class.

Which I prefer. The Kents, I mean, being lower middle class and possibly even poor or at least struggling hard with the farm.

Ah, I guess you have to be familiar with the rural South. They tend to be dated/old fashioned/traditional in some aspects even in modern times. That and they probably have their own dialect.

In Pre-Crisis, he called them "Mom and Dad" as much as he called them "Ma and Pa"-it only became "Ma and Pa" exclusively when Byrne rebooted the character and turned him into a complete hick.

Can't it just be whatever sounds better? If I called my parents and said "Hey Ma, hey Pa, what are you guys up to? It would sound weird and forced. If my brother did it, it would sound natural. It just depends on the person delivering the line. Some people pull it off well, some don't. Cavill being British doing an American accent, I would imagine would sound weird saying "Ma and Pa", and mom and dad sounds much more genuine.

He called Jonathan "Dad" quite a bit, usually called Martha "Ma", and when he thought of both of them it was either "Ma and Pa Kent" or "Mom and Dad Kent".

I always find what people call their parents interesting. In my family, different kids call them different things. I call my dad "Daddy" and I called my mother "Mother". Some of my sisters called her "Momma", we all called my dad "Daddy" except for my big brother who called him "Pops".

It's kinda a neat thing. Another little detail that I saw once and I liked: in a guide for dressing as Superman for Halloween, it was mentioned that Superman is the kind of person who says, "Hi", not "Hello".

C'mon guys, he still needs to be Green Screened, I mean they can't just put him next to a real tornado with a bunch of debris flying through the air and scream "Action!"! lol

We gotta remember, from the looks of it he dies in the Tornado sequence, how ever he may die, my guess is that is exactly what they are filming now. I hope he dies a heroic death, like a car flying through the air about to hit Ma Kent, and Pa Kent pushes her out the way and then he gets smashed! I want an emotional death that brings a tear to my eye, no boring heart-attack crap!


We all seen the pic of the car through the Kents farm house, maybe he rushes everyone to safety in the house and then a car flys through the house and crushes him?!
