Tom Welling will be playing against Kevin Costner in 'Draft Day'. Frank Langella will also be in it.

So now we have MOS Clark's father Pa Kent and Superman Returns' Perry in the same film as Smallville's Clark.LOL.

They really lucked out when Costner signed on for this. He's friggin perfect for this role in every way.

^ I liked Glen Ford. I think his role was way too short. Hopefully we will all have a closeness with Costner's Kent

He's probably the best man who ever lived for this role.

The live action actors for Pa Kent have been perfectly casted

Glenn Ford did a heartwarming portrayal in Superman: The Movie.

Eddie Jones was good in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman

John Schneider was magnificent as Jonathan Kent in "Smallville"

And Now Kevin Costner is just going to elevate this character to a whole new level in "Man Of Steel". I can't wait to see what he brings to the role, I was totally on board as soon as he and Diana Lane were casted as Pa & Ma Kent.

Costner's Pa Kent is quite different as he's loving to Clark but very protective. I like it and every scene with him I felt the emotion Pa felt in wanting the best for his son, but also making sure that he safe.

Perfect modern casting for Pa Kent. Costner gave a fantastic performance despite his minimal screentime.

Costner made me believe totally that he was a man that lived and died by the courage of his convictions. His part in the story is what emotionally grounds this biblically grand scifi epic.

I absolutely loved that last sequence with Pa Kent and young Clark trying on the towel as a cape. Incredible moment in the film.

Costner sold it for me when he stuck out his hand to simply signal Clark, "no, I know you can, but don't."
Loved Costner as Pa Kent and hope we somehow see more of him.

He was like Uncle Ben (including have his "son" be a douche to him before he dies), but the opposite.

I liked EVERYTHING in his scenes (even the suggestion to hide his powers until he is ready,) EXCEPT for the tornado scene. His performance was FINE, it just was a strangely plotted scene. Is Clark THAT much of a daddy's boy that he can't break commands to save his own life?

It's a weak moment in a good movie.

Uncle Ben = With Great power comes great responsibility.
Pa Kent = With Great power comes great temperance.

I was thinking the same thing about seeing more of Costner. I would not be surprised to see more Pa Kent flashbacks in MOS 2.

Costner was great, but I can't help but feel his scenes would have had more of an impact if they aired in linear order. In particular, the tornado scene would have had far more impact if they didn't just tell us his fate right before that. And he isn't someone that needs to be killed off for the character to work like Uncle Ben or Thomas Wayne either.

Pa Kent was just as big of a hero as Clark was. Not only a protective father, but one who gives him the best of advice when it comes to the right and wrong choices and he never wavers or shows frustration, especially when Clark is lashing out at times.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Every good father would of done what Pa did in his last scene. He made sure Clark got the people, and especially his mother, to safety FIRST. Costner and Lane were as close to perfect casting calls for Ma and Pa as it gets.
