Thanks cas, I'm hoping for a good adaption of the classic costume (like I was for the Cap movie) but like I said if they couldn't manage it for the Cap movie (no disrepect to the movie costume) can they do it for the Avengers? Anyway wouldn't mind seeing a manip of Evans in a Super Soldier suit just out of curiosity............anyone?

Man, thats the best the costume has looked so far. It looks remarkably like a piece of concept art that was floating around ages ago too.

I realise this post is very old but I haven't seen it until now. I'd just like to say that you haven't listened to any of my arguments and I don't think you will ever give my opinion the light of day.

Are you serious? That post, as long ago as it was, wasn't a dig. That was obviously a crappy manip, but I meant as far as the creative design went. That recent manip done by Rcazzy of the movie costume is a better example now. Isn't that what you wanted, a more faithful 616 costume that still looked just as bad ass and cool as what we've got anyway? Something that could be in the Avengers?

I just think finding a crappy manip that is along the same lines of what I've mentioned amd saying "Well, that's what you wanted" is a bit of a cheap shot.

As far as that recent manip goes, yeah, that's a lot better. I'd still do it differently though.

I went back and read my posts, and no one actually listened to what I was saying anyway. I posted the article, not the image, where the guy who made the manip talked about different materials that could be used for a 616 accurate costume. Then other people, lets call them the spandex brigade, took the picture and used it to inflame the old 'spandex vs Straptain America' argument.

I was trying to start a discussion on what materials could be used, within the context of the tone of this film, to make it more 616 accurate.

I like the pic of Cap's suit. I know some people are 'it has to be skin tight', but I'm not bothered as long as it looks good.

Well I think that pic shows it off in a better way. It's a cool side on profile, seems less 'puffy' if you will. Seems more fitted around the waist etc

I still like the costume, but some of the manips on the previous page are pretty cool. Wouldn't mind some of those changes for the Avengers. Still satisfied with what we currently have, though.

So now that there's more released pics/footage/trailers of Evans in the suit....

...have people's outlook on it being too baggy, etc. changed from back when we got the stuntman pics...

...or was it a major letdown?

It DEFINATELY looks better on Evans!
I'm actually glad, for some of the "bagginess". It looks a bit more, or at least gives the perception of it being utilitarian.
Couple of years ago, a buddy of mine had a concept for cap where the stripes were straps. I WAS against it, but I like the way they've done it here.
Seeing the suit in motion, I was like, " thank God it works!"
That is to say, I definitely wouldn't mind something sleeker and more form fitting for the Avengers. After all, I'm sure Tony's got just a little more flair for "style" and "zaz" than papa Stark did.

What befuddled me a bit was when the concept art first came out (the one of him in the war setting)...there was talk of 'too baggy...but it's only concept art', and probably thoughts/hopes that it would look more like the sleeker full-body renderings. Then those stuntman pics were leaked, and to me...it looked just like the aforementioned war-scene concept art (which I liked from the beginning)...and again...'it's just a stuntman...it'll look better/sleeker on Evans'. And now...we have Evans...and the suit that he's wearing looks very consistent with the stuntman and the concept art (minus the double-chin on the stuntman).

So I'm just wondering if those who felt it would look different by the time we actually saw Evans in it are either severely disappointed, or if they've accepted it comfortably. Not calling them out or anything, just want to know since I haven't been in this forum for a while.

I love the Cap suit. Slightly different but it's still definitely Captain America.

Just wanted to bring up an interesting point that nobody else has seemed to speculate on yet......do you think it's possible that even the USO costume won't feature the classic mask w/protruding wings and all. I know it's supposed to be the classic look for those scenes, but what if that is just the bodysuit combined with the helmet in the above pic. I just wonder because from all accounts the "leather jacket" look is just what he hastily throws on over the costume to go AWOL on his very first mission......So then where does the helmet come from? It certainly doesn't look like something that he just "threw together" quickly, which leads me to believe that it's part of the USO costume and we might be getting a comic-accurate bodysuit without the classic mask. Just some interesting food for thought....
