That's the worst part about the cursed characters. They lure you in so easily...

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application Character you would like to play: Bruce Banner/Hulk Powers: Banner himself is a genius, having attained prestigious awards throughout his career in both biology and physics. However, when angry, Banner may become the Hulk As Hulk, the creature has an unlimited amount of strength as he gets angrier. The cellular reproduction of Hulk’s damaged tissues allows for an accelerated healing factor. As long as Hulk is angry his strength is maintained. Retaining the “as he gets angrier, he gets stronger”. Hulk is also incredibly durable. His stamina allows him to fight off fatigue toxins, in an enraged state he can fight others and maintain peak performance for hours on end. Also his durability keeps him from blistering at extremes in heat, or freezing from intense cold. He is also immune to all earthly diseases. The Hulks healing factor regenerates both wounded and completely destroyed body parts. The worse the wound the longer the regeneration. Hulk can also communicate with animals and spirits. Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Bruce banner grew up like most kids during the 70’s, well most who showed promises of being a genius and were the son of one. He aced every test, except tests of physical performance. Until high school, Bruce's body started to develop physically. He soon learned from reading the journals of his father, that during the late 60’s and early 70’s, right round the time he was conceived, that his father had been part of the Super soldier project:Rebirth. A project to recreate the dead super soldier Captain America. Bruce’s father had tested a prototype serum on himself, before conceiving Bruce. Bruce now understood what was going on; that he had inherited the serum from his father. He started developing his body himself. Everyone noticed, even his father, but he wrote it off as just his son becoming more interested in sports and physical fitness then science. Besides he still had work himself to do. Eventually Bruce made it to the football team. However, first game, the serum he had inherited malfunctioned and he suddenly reverted back to being puny Banner. Banner was kicked of the team and returned to his science. Banner spent the rest of high school as the loser geek. Doing his homework, and failing PE. After graduation he made it to Berkley and after a few years, had majored in Physics and minored in biology. Banner went to work for the government along side older men who had worked with his father, and others he had read about or studied with. They were all there for one purpose : the Super Soldier Project: Rebirth. Banners expertise in biology and radiation put him at the top of the list, paired with Dr. Lam in a near reality show effort of teams to create the serum or process for a new super soldier. After Lam became the Abomination Bruce exposed himself to just the gamma radiation and became the Hulk for the first time. The Hulk tracked down Lam only to be too late to the scene, the Gladiator having already defeated Bruce’s altered lab partner. Annoyed by the sirens in the small town, the Hulk continued to rampage until he faced down General Thadeus Thunderbolt, who was head of the project on the base. Bruce reverted back from the Hulk and was tranqed by Ross. Who had him sent to the SHIELD helicarrier for a new project: Project Hulk. The purpose to simply find a way to re-create the creature. Bruce managed to escape the Helicarrier after changing into the Hulk and going on a rampage through New York city. The rampage was stopped by the combined efforts of Captain America, Thor and Iron Man. Heavily sedated and restrained in the helicarrier, Bruce is approached by Gen. Ross to retrieve a rogue mutant from the X-Men. Bruce is sent after the Wolverine, who is residing in the cabin of the mutant mercenary group the Reavers. A three way fight breaks out between the Reavers, Hulk and the black ops X-Men group Weapon X. Afte the fight Bruce escaped into the South West. He remained in a small town not even a week, no transformations, no troubles with the Hulk. And then SHIELD Operative Coulson arrived one day, telling Bruce that SHIELD needed the creature, that the creature’s power was needed to fend off an attack from an alien of some kind. After some talk Bruce accepted and with Couslon and other members of SHIELD made his way to NYC. There he hit the Super Skrull, sending it flying and ending the fight with the alien and the Avengers. He ran from HAMMER after hand delivering a downed Sharon Carter to the overhead helicarrier. He stayed in British Columbia until a group of HAMMER agents. Hulk attacked the soldiers, laid waste to their back up and escaped. Bruce’s next move was finding Leonard Sampson, a friend from college. He spent the night there before Sharon Carter’s broadcast. He went under hypnosis and Leonard spoke with the Hulks who have been presented thus far: Hulk, Grey, and the Devil. Captain America’s has made Bruce more determined to not let HAMMER capture him and attempt to make the Hulk a weapon. Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Because he’s fun to play, because Hulk’s always been a favorite of mine. And I’ve held on too long just let it go now, defying the curse that has taken hold. What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Bruce is going to be more the man looking for his place in the world, also looking for a way to stop the inner evil lurks within. And there will be more smashing ing general when it gets into the fights HE will be getting into, both in and out of his mind. Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): A big green guy with anger issues and a passion for the game. I covered it in one sentence, how’s that for efficient? ![]() Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs): Quote:

Character you would like to play: Captain Scott Summers, aka Cyclops
Powers: Can emit powerful energy blasts from his eyes. Unlike his 616 counterpart, Cyclops can control the blasts with concentration and does not need to constantly wear the visor, but it does help him contain and aim the energy. Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Scott Summers has spent most of his life in the Westchester Academy, being brought there after an uncontrolled optic blast destroyed his home and killed his parents. Isolated from his only remaining family (his brother Alex), Scott spent most of his early childhood being mentored by the kindly Professor Charles Xavier, who saw the potential in Scott to be a paragon of mutant-kind. During his tutelage, the Westchester Academy began to change around Scott, the atmosphere becoming more military in nature, even Charles himself suddenly becoming more distant, eventually becoming a proponent of the controversial Mutant Registration Act that he had previously opposed. After the Professor's assassination, Scott continued his training under Colonel David Haller, who molded Summers not into a peacemaker or diplomat, but a loyal soldier in HAMMER's mutant task-force, the X-Men. Years later, Scott was dismayed when he learned that First Sergeant Jean Grey--with whom he had been fraternizing against orders--had been captured during a battle with the mutant terrorist organization the Brotherhood. Constantly fighting with Colonel Haller about the lack of progress in search-and-rescue missions, Summers was relieved of his command and forced onto lesser missions with new recruits. During this time, he came into possession of secret documents: lost writings by Charles Xavier, showing that Haller had been manipulating the X-Men for years, twisting the Professor's thoughts with a weapon called 'Cerebro' to bend him to HAMMER's agenda. These were given to him by a SHIELD agent named Emma Frost, who had concluded that the Brotherhood would use Cerebro, augmented by Jean Grey's powerful psychic abilities, to dominate the mutant race and force them into a genocidal race-war against humanity. Openly defying his orders, Scott led a team of X-Men to the Brotherhood compound in order to rescue Jean, and upon returning, declared that the X-Men would no longer be taking orders from HAMMER, forcing Haller and the rest of the military personnel out of Westchester once and for all. Now leading a group of loyal but technically 'fugitive' X-Men, reunited with Jean and his long-estranged brother Alex, Cyclops faces the challenges of taking on both the Brotherhood and reprisals from HAMMER, as well as taking in new students to the reopened Academy. Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Cyclops is one of those characters that's actually really interesting once you get into the meat of him, but immediately gets dismissed as boring because he doesn't have that same cool-factor as guys like Wolverine or Gambit, and I kind of like picking up important characters that no one else thinks of. Plus, the X-Men should be in for a lot of craziness this time around, and I want to be right there in the thick of it. What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Now that we've finished the "golden-boy soldier deliberately defies orders when he realizes his commanders are wrong" arc, we get to see how Scott handles running the school himself. There should be a lot of fun room to move around in, especially now that he's back together with Jean, Emma Frost is still running about being all enigmatic and whatnot, and he's discovered that Professor X isn't quite as dead as most people think. Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): All-Star Marvel is my house, dammit! Also, I love writing high-stakes plots with complex characters, so big fun stuff is probably right around the corner. Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs): It's nearly 1AM when I'm awoken by a proximity alarm. I practically jump out of bed, waking Jean up in the process, and go to the terminal to see what's going on. Motion detectors indicate absolutely massive objects have just breached the outer perimeter. Judging by their speed, they'll be here within three minutes. I was wondering when HAMMER was going to make their move on us. At least we didn't have to wait long. I activate the PA system on the command terminal and my voice projects throughout the Mansion. "Attention attention, we are at condition one," I say so everyone can hear me. "Repeat: we are at condition one. Multiple inbound hostiles have been detected. All active X-Men, report to battle stations. Everyone else, take cover in the lower bunkers." I start to suit up, grabbing my visor off the nightstand. "This could get ugly," I say as I tune the targeting system in my visor and get ready for a fight. |

Character you would like to play: James Buchanan Barnes, aka Captain America
Powers: Enhanced strength, agility, durability, longetivity (slower aging), tactically skilled mind and expert hand-to-hand combatant. The superhuman powers are heredity, so they're not as potent as generally portrayed. Basic history of the character (Up until this point): From the original app: Quote:
Eventually Barnes left HAMMER after joining forces with several other super-heroes to defeat the Super Skrull in New York, blatantly defying Director 13's orders and becoming a fugitive. This wasn't helped when he broke fellow hero Miss Marvel out of the metahuman prison in Genosha Bay, or when he shot Director 13 in the stomach for threatening his mother's life, while attempting to stop the vile Nazi supervillain Red Skull from invading San Francisco. Finally, Barnes was caught up in a plot by HYDRA and one of its leaders, Baron Zemo, to cripple the Western World with an EMP blast, using Nick Fury himself as a mole to head off SHIELD at every turn. When Fury learned he had been duped, he sabotaged HYDRA's stolen nuclear warhead to go off with him still inside the launch silo, entrusting Barnes and the Avengers to set the country right. Now on the lam from HAMMER and still being skewered by the media, Captain James Buchanan Barnes seeks to prove himself to a country split between those who think him a hero and those who want him in prison. Living in an abandoned SHIELD facility beneath the old Stark Family Mansion, he's adjusting to his new role in the world, as a leader of the Avengers, as a major force in the 'superhero' debate......and as the 21st Century's Captain America. Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Because Cap rules, and always has. He's an excellent character and you can tell all kinds of stories with him, not just for who the person is and what he can do, but for all the different things he represents. Though hopefully I can come up with some good stuff without just making it a ham-fisted political soapbox like so many other people when they write Cap. What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): He's going to be taking an active role as the unofficial leader of the Avengers, trying to root out and destroy the remaining forces of HYDRA, and find out what happened to Red Skull. Also, I imagine the Avengers and the Ultimates will be butting heads at some point, so Cap will definitely be on the front lines there. Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): My name is Andy C. I'm the best at what I do. But what I do......is write nerdy-ass RPG storylines. Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs): Captain America sat anxiously in the bunker below the old Stark Mansion. Since his address to the nation, he had been tracking down potential allies, getting in contact with the heroes from the battle in Times Square. He knew he could rely on Iron Man to be on board with the team, and he believed he could trust Thor--if he could ever find him--but so many of the others had been much harder to locate again. Fortunately, the communicators that he had been given by Nick Fury when this all began had proven a valuable asset. And a hypersonic jet that could be piloted remotely to locations all across the world certainly didn’t hurt. The Mansion’s integrated computer system gave him notice of activity in the hangar bay, and he leapt from his seat in excitement. Scrambling down the corridors and into the large bay, he saw the massive doors open as the Quinjet swooped in gracefully. Not bad for an autopilot. As the jet touched down, the loading ramp extended, and out came three individuals. Miss Marvel, the former HAMMER agent that Bucky had rescued from the prison in Genosha Bay. The Vision, the elusive android whom he had encountered on board the Helicarrier. And, much to Bucky’s chagrin….Hawkeye, the insufferable crack-shot who had brought Cap to Fury in the first place. As they stepped off of the ramp and took in the sight of the hangar, Captain America approached them. “You’re the first ones to arrive,” he said, smiling. “Welcome to the team. Welcome to the Avengers.” |

Character you would like to play:
Orson Randall: Iron Fist, Lost Weapon of the mystical city of K'un L'un Powers: Having plunged his hands into the heart of Shou-Lao the Undying tied Orson Randall to the dragon's mystical energy, making him the 65th Iron Fist. This allows him to summon and focus his chi, this has a wide range of practical uses, most famously condensed and directed solely into the fist making it "like unto a thing of iron". Due to years of intensive training by some of the best martial arts teachers in K'un L'un, he is one of the best martial artists on the planets, combined with decades of studying The Book of The Iron Fist - a sacred text, comprised of the teachings of all 64 Iron Fists that preceded him, made from the mystical scales of Shou-Lao himself - make him possibly the most powerful weapon in the Iron Fist legend. Some abilities of the Iron Fist (not limited to these): Master martial artist Ability to redirect chi even outside of his own body (can project it through firearms and the bullets within) Some ability to control weak minds via hypnosis Chi can provide resistance to poisons/toxins and gases Mystical abilities to heal both self and others and knowledge of both Eastern and Western methods of healing Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Revealed general history (much has happened in his past): Orson Randall fled the violence that goes with the mantle of the Iron Fist. He took drastic self-destructive precautions to make himself invisible, and keep himself hidden from the leaders of K'un L'un and those who knew him on this realm as well. He is viewed as a failure and a matter of great dishonour by those in K'un L'un, to the extent that K'un L'un changed their methods and had the Thunderer Lei Kung perform a greater role in the mentoring of young Iron Fists, to mould them, seeking greater control and influence over the position than they had with Orson. Hoping to end the line of Iron Fists and stop the violence he stole The Book of the Iron Fist, but this had little effect on events and has only harmed future wielders of the mantle, who are now disadvantaged from lacking the knowledge it wielded. He has survived countless wars and seen endless horrors in his 100 year long life, and what he wants more than anything is peace. But he's just realised that what he wants doesn't mean squat in the grand scheme of things and that it's impossible to out-run destiny... The Iron Fist legacy is not done with him yet... Season 1 history: Orson Randall awoke from a drug-fuelled haze in the third world hole he'd dug himself into for the purpose of fleeing the Iron Fist legacy. The full force of the chi of Shou-Lao the Undying hit him and cleared his head after Danny Rand, the Iron Fist who had followed in his wake, had died. Packing up the small nook he'd passed off as a life in recent times he decided there was no point in trying to hide any longer and went to New York in search of answers. Answers starting with "Who killed Danny Rand?" leads him to further questions, such as; "When and why did Danny Rand steal every dollar of mine that I kept in my old Bank of America account?", "When exactly did New York go to hell in a hand basket with characters like this ... running about?", "What in the hell is wrong with all of the people here who are willing to listen to this Lady Gaga and Willow Smith garbage?" Eventually Orson Randall stumbled upon some associates of Danny's, when shaking the troublemaker ... down; Misty Knight and Colleen Wing - Partners, owners, of the detective agency KnightWing Restorations. It is through these people that Orson hears that Danny Rand is not in fact dead, just extremely close to it, and is being kept alive on life support at Lenox Hill Hospital. Despite Misty's suspicions she allows Orson to see Danny, since the pair have a clear connection which is visible both in his power and the mark of the dragon that he wields upon his chest. East Coast mysticism succeeds where West Coast medicine has reached its limits as Orson extended his chi to Danny Rand, resuscitating him in an original method which has never before been tried. His first original technique unmapped in the Book of the Iron Fist. But as Orson was about to slink away while the others celebrated, with great adoration, the return of their friend Danny... his path was blocked by the stalwart image of the Yu-Ti, the August Personage in Jade - ruler of K'un L'un... Why Have You Chosen That Character?: One; he's badass. Two; I had him in season one and already had plans for what I'd get him doing in this second season, almost a "What if?" version of if events in Immortal Iron Fist went in a different direction. Three; It's nice to have the older legacy character in there mixing it up who was around when Steve Rogers was alive and kicking. He has that old world charm, "trying to figure out where he can fit in a modern world", about him. What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Orson Randall has different motivations here from The Immortal Iron Fist. In the Immortal Iron Fist he is more interested in aiding Danny Rand, the new Iron Fist. Here however, Orson Randall is more trying to get a read on exactly what is going on, why he's been called back into action and resigning himself to being the Iron Fist after even the most drastic measures of avoiding the role have failed him. He's also a much crankier version than the original depiction, he's woken up to a brand new world and he's not exactly pleased with what he's seeing. Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I can bring awesomeness. I can bring the ruckus. Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs): No point wasting a new one... The angry, hairy midget tries to stare me down, hunched over with that sneer of his on his face. He's like a grotesque reflection of myself; we've both seen too many wars but he'd probably say we've not seen enough. By any indication he's certainly not going to call it a day... Hup, he's going to talk. I bet this will be something profound. Something belying our vast years of experience... "You... I thought you bought the farm or turned pansy or something. I'd buy you a beer and reminisce over old times, but something tells me you're not up for that." That something would probably have something to do with the blood dripping from his hands and the eviscerated remains of a petty crook lying on the floor. I haven't thrown a punch in twenty years but something tells me I won't be rusty. "You're as articulate as always, Logan." I sink into my stance like an old couch. I am renewed, with focus my rear hand starts to glow and a smile crosses my face. Not a sneer of bloodlust and malice, a smile of rediscovered purpose... and inside of myself another part of me dies as it understands that sadly, this IS my purpose. "I should warn you, bub, I'm not the same man I was in the Nazi war... I've become something more..." Snkt! He unsheathes those animal claws of his, only now they appear to be sheathed in some kind of metal. "I've become... a weapon!" A rumble builds from within me, it becomes a chortle, then a chuckle, then a fully formed belly laugh. "Logan, you're new to the game. I am THE living weapon..."

Character you would like to play: Howard T. Duck
Powers: All of them. Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Howard comes from and alternate universe populated by anthropomorphic animals. A group of powerful, pan-dimensional beings who watched the cynical fowl with great interest, transported him into world of All-Star Marvel. This was partly because they had foreseen that the creature would one day be of great significance in this new world, but mostly because “they thought it would be funny.” Confused, frightened, and utterly alone, Howard takes his first steps on a long and horrific downward spiral into drugs, alcohol, violence, and insanity. Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Because I like playing a duck, big whoop, wannafightaboutit? What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): I’m putting a much darker twist on the (beloved? Probably not.) character. Instead of a cigar smokin’, wise-crackin’ duck, I want to make him a foul mouthed, depressed, emotionally unstable, raging alcoholic duck. Like the original Howard, I’m giving him a metafictional awareness of his surroundings and himself, being well aware of the absurdity of the Marvel Universe and his own existence. I want to pull Howard into a series of adventures (some realistic and some totally surreal and psychedelic, but all horrifying) that gradually chisel away at his sanity. Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I’m going to use Howard as a source of comic relief for the RPG. I also have an idea to mold him into some sort of social commentary but I don’t quite know if I’m deep enough to go there, but I’ll certainly try. Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs): I roll over to look at the clock. One thirty-six p.m. Alarm is playing some crappy Journey song. My head is throbbing, my mouth is dry, my stomach is doin’ backflips and worst of all, I’m sober. I slam the “OFF” button on the digital alarm and slowly sit up. Apparently it wasn’t slow enough. I quickly buckle over and a nice, thick, creamy stream of McDoubles and vodka comes pourin’ out the old bill. Two twenty-one p.m. I somehow made it out of my apartment and out into the streets. Don’t really remember how. Stupid fat hairless monkeys gawk at me. This one fat broad just keeps starin’ as I pass her by. I turn and glare at her as I walk, then, BOOM, right into some bimbo wearin’ expensive, oversized sunglasses. “Nice glasses, honey. Maybe someday you’ll save up enough to buy a personality to go with it.” “You…you’re a DUCK!” “…**** off.” I shove her aside. Don’t really have the time to chew the **** with retards. Got important business to take care of. Three block’s later, I’m at my destination. I look up at the great big ol’ marvelous sign: LIQUOR. Best liquor stores are just called LIQUOR STORE. Just like the best Chinese restaurants are called CHINESE RESTAURANT and the best strip clubs are called SPANKY’S. I push open the door and walk in. Little bell rings. Peruse the aisles a bit before grabbing a bottle of Southern Comfort. The merlot of rednecks. I get on my tippy-toes and place it on the counter. Cashier stares at me. “Uh…I’m gonna need…I.D.” I sigh. “Oh do you? I’m sorry. Let me just get my driver’s license. It’s in my wallet here in my back pock—oh wait. I don’t have a back pockets. Because I don’t have any pants. Because I’m a ****ing duck.” “I can’t sell you anything without age verification…sir.” I let out another sigh. “Fine.” I reach up to the counter and pull the bottle down. “I guess I’ll just go put this back on the shel—“ I quickly dart out of the store and haul ass down the street. “HEY!” the cashier screams. I’m not too worried about cops. What’s he gonna do, call 911 and tell them a duck stole a bottle of liqueur? I just hope he won’t chase after me. My stubby legs can only take me so far… |

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application Character you would like to play: Thor, the Thunder God Powers: Strength of Asgard, control of the elements, Mjolnir Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Son of Odin, lord of Asgard, Thor was one of the most successful generals in the war with the Frost Giants. However he flew into a rage during the peace talks, and Odin was forced to exile him or face war. As such, Thor is now learning humility by living amongst the people of Midgard, and protecting them as part of the Avengers. Why Have You Chosen That Character?: I feel I need to continue what I started last time with Thor. For once I actually have a whole season planned. What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): From last season I want to show how he develops from his cover identity as Donald Blake. Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): Bacon and fruit. They're yummy and nutritious. Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs): This is our third call-out of the evening, and it's been barely an hour since my shift started. In that time I've already seen one shooting and one hit and run, both young men, barely more than children. Currently, I am not experiencing the love of humanity that Loki was trying to inspire in me. That does not include, of course, my fellow paramedic Charlie (from Brooklyn) who drives the ambulance. I can honestly say that I have never seen such devotion to one's duty before. He would be magnificent on the battlefield. This one is a heart-attack. This woman is still quite young, late twenties, early thirties. Perhaps it's the stress of a high pressure, perhaps it's an underlying condition, it doesn't really matter to me. My job is to get her stable enough for the ride to the hospital. The medical knowledge is such that I have recieved from a "magical implant" that Loki gave to me. It's been satisfactory so far, although I do not appear to have the natural affinity to it that those who have worked their whole lives have. "She's going into defib. Get me the paddles!" Charlie comes hurrying out with the paddles, and we lift the woman onto the cart and get it into the back of the ambulance. There's no one who wants to ride with her, so Charlie slams the door shut and starts the engine, switching on the sirens. I charge the paddles, clear the area and apply them. Nothing happens. I check the wires, which are fine, and the box, which doesn't respond. I swear loudly in Norse and thump it with a heavy hand. That just appears to break it worse. "What the **** are you doing back there Don?" Charlie (from Brooklyn) asks. "These ****ing paddles aren't working!" I yell, throwing them down. All this has happened in about two minutes. Her hearts still not beating. I have an idea. I look up. Charlie's eyes are on the road. I lay my hands on the pads on her chest and take a breath. Then I channel the lightning. Her body gives a jolt. I grit my teeth and do it again. Smoke rises from the pads. I give it one last shot. She jolts again, and the heart-beat monitor kicks into life. "The ****'s going on back there?" Charlie yells from the front. "It's a miracle," I breath, applying the oxygen mask "An actual miracle," |
