Jonah Hex was uhhhhhhhhh yeah it was something. The concept was there...Brolin as Hex....great,Malckavich as Turnbull.....fantastic.....Fox as a prostitute...kinda hard to see the wrong in that. However it failed!!! So why not bring em all together for a Magnifcent Seven typ movie.Introduce the other great western heros from DC comics and maybe some spin offs..lets think about it,
Jonah Hex: Thomas Jane(his heart would be in it) Bat Lash(my fav.) Bradley Cooper(he could really do the part justice, think bret maverick) El Diablo: I have no freaking Idea Cinnamon: Rachel Nichols Nighthawk:Timothy Olyphant Scalphunter: ????? Johnny Thunder(tane): Josh Lucas Trigger Twins: Ben Foster Quinten Turnbull: Tommy Lee Jones This movie could be epic.I would get rid of the mask on certain ones and maybe call nighthawk hannibal hawkes.Jus to knida ground it a little and make it a little gritty. With Hex and Lash the main heroes of the film. Maybe I jus want a damn Bat Lash movie or tv series. Something, playing it up like Bret Maverick and it would be awesome(in regards to a bat lash tv show). |

Would love to see a great DC Comics western movie. But I think WB wouldn't even give it a chance after the piss poor performance/reviews of Jonah Hex.

Cause Hex was such a big hit!

They had a chance to do a decent western with Hex. They failed due to studio interference. They obviously don't have confidence in the concept.

It's a shame that the name "Jonah Hex" is now toxic, and will be for at least 10 years. Mainly due to a studio that didn't have a clue about what it was doing. A well done Jonah Hex film could be amazing.
Preacher would be interesting though. |

They are. That idiot who directed I Went Number Two is making it. He's going to f**k it all up to the point where it's unrecognizable.

stejam13 on DA did this great poster invoking the spirit of what this concept could be ...

A classic type of superhero in the old west would be quite interesting. Now that they mix aliens with cowboys and indians, why not have a spandex wearing guy in a western film?

I know this is kinda a stock answer on the internet, but I think a western show would be better than on a movie

A lot of franchises are going that direction these days.
On another note, remember the Jonah Hex episode of BTAS? With Ra's Al Ghul and his plot to wreck the railroad with the zeppelin? What if they did something like that for the big western epic? Or is that too much like the Jonah Hex movie that they made? (I didn't see it)

It would certainly save them the trouble squeezing so many characters into one movie while still trying to have a plot.

I could see using something like this to give Jonah Hex more exposure and another shot. It's not a bad idea, really. Maybe if THE LONE RANGER does really well.

I wish I could say I was optimistic about that.

It's really weird how bad the Jonah Hex movie was, especially since it was largely based (at least from what I can tell) on arguably one of the best episodes of the Batman cartoon, "Showdown". The change of the "Doomsday weapon" from an awesome steampunk airship to...a train, is kind of demonstrative of the larger problems with the movie, though, which was that the director/writer/producers apparently felt they couldn't just release a Jonah Hex movie but had to screw around with the character's power (which is to say, they gave him powers, as Jonah Hex in the comics has no powers) as well as writing stale dialogue and allowing Mila Kunis to be in yet another movie despite being a terrible actress. At this point the only real positive about the movie is the soundtrack by Mastodon.
The various concepts stated in this topic revolving around an All-Star Western team-up is precisely what is being done in the current All-Star Western comic (which is largely a Jonah Hex comic with back-ups from the various other characters). I personally would love to see a new Jonah Hex movie based on the Crime Bible plot from the new book, although it would have to have a better "climax" or ending to that story arc than the comic did (which just kind of had it end with the death of some of the major members, but with the implication that the organizations till exists--much like the Court of Owls in modern day Batman). The various team-ups with Amadeus Arkham, Nighthawk and Cinnamon, etc. are very interesting and clearly the skeleton is there for that Magnificent Seven-esque team-up people have mentioned. |

If so what issues? And can you list what issues the specific back-up characters appear in, eg El Diablo, Cinnamon, Nighthawk etc.. as they don't seem to list them on the first few covers, just Hex? Thanks! Last edited by Mondragon; 01-09-2013 at 02:39 PM. |

All-Star Western #2 and #3 -- El Diablo back-up. All-Star Western #4, #5, #6 -- Barbary Ghost back-up. All-Star Western #7, #8, and #9 -- Jonah Hex/Nighthawk and Cinnamon team-up. Nighthawk and Cinnamon back-up. Tallulah Black appearance. All-Star Western #10 -- Jonah Hex/Tallulah Black team-up. Bat-Lash back-up. All-Star Western #11 and #12 -- Jonah Hex/Tallulah Black team-up. Dr. Terrence Thirteen back-up. All-Star Western #13 -- Jonah Hex/Tallulah Black team-up. Barbary Ghost appearance. Tomahawk back-up. All-Star Western #14 -- Jonah Hex/Barbary Ghost team-up. Tomahawk back-up. Other recurring character who is in most of them is Amadeus Arkham as Jonah Hex's side-kick, but obviously he is not a DC Western character per se...well, now he is. I could see a movie featuring all the characters working fine...except Tomahawk which is set during Colonial era. Last edited by Baramos; 01-10-2013 at 10:30 PM. |
