Just watched it and enjoyed it. While it wasnt really that scary, it was creepy which I like. And I am interested in the mystery behind the house, the neighbor, and well everyone involved in it.

Wow. I gotta say, this show grabbed me like I haven't been grabbed since, dare I say, Lost.

Very creepy and disturbing. And I did find the scene in the basement where they scare the bully girl scary!

OK speculation time:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
So, are we to assume some of the people we've encountered are ghosts? I assume the maid is a given. And I suppose the father's patient that helped the daughter scare the bully is a candidate as well. The father had trouble trying to report him as a dangerous student and he did seem to be in on whatever is in the basement. What about the burn victim and Jessica Lange (& her daughter)? And the Gimp. A manifestation or the father some how sleep walking/possessed? And now (if the Gimp is a separate entity) that the wife is pregnant the obvious question will be who's baby is it? And how will it relate to her previous miscarriage and the jars in the basement?

The show is pretty creepy. Not that many scare moments though. I think the most effective ones were the opening with the twins and when Violet brought Leah to her basement to scare her.

After the show I immediately thought of this:

I really liked the premiere but until the burned dude showed up at the end I did have alot of trouble following exactly what was going on, mostly with the dad with the sleep walking n stuff. This show has a massive amount of potential though

Basically it's that there's a force in the house that already used Denis O'Hare to kill his family, and almost himself, and now it's doing the same to Ben. Somehow the neighbor was able to stop him.

Love this show. This is the type of Ryan Murphy show that I love. The ones that are weird and trippy. I didn't think it was the scariest thing I've seen but the scene with the daughter in the basement was definitely creepy. Oh and the gratuitous butt shots are back! Too bad they're always of guys instead of the women.

It's okay. They'll make up for it by showing pretty much all the boob they can without showing the nipple.

I'm hoping Nip/Tuck is in the same universe and we'll get a cameo of Dr. Christian Troy

Ratings: Horror Story Scares Up Strong Numbers

FX’s American Horror Story has a good ratings tale to tell, having amassed 5 million total viewers across its premiere night on Wednesday.

In its initial 10 pm airing, American Horror Story spooked 3.2 million viewers, with 2.0 million falling in the coveted 18-49 category — that’s equal to the demo rating of the series debut of Horror Story cocreator Ryan Murphy’s Nip/Tuck and 33 percent higher than Sons of Anarchy‘s 2008 bow. Encore AHS telecasts added 1.84 million viewers and 1.2 mil adults 18-49.

“We’re really thrilled by the premiere ratings performance of American Horror Story,” FX president John Landgraf said in a statement. “We know that when the Live+7 ratings come in, that of the 13 drama series FX has premiered, AHS will rank at least No. 2 all-time in Adults 18-49 behind The Shield, and there is a possibility that it could be our highest ever.”

While Horror Story measured up well against Sons and Nip/Tuck –and more than doubled the debuts of FX’s most recent dramas, Terriers and Lights Out — it fell shy of the total audience Justified drew a bead on in March 2010.

I liked the show, especially the song with the closing credits -- Baby you ain't feelin' right by Powersolo. I love it when shows include great music.

Weird ass show. I'm intrigued but not entirely sold on it. Getting a strong Stephen King vibe from it.

McDermott only showed his butt two times -- that's not gratuitous. And he should be proud of that body, as it's the kind us guys half his age are envious of.

As for Ryan Murphy's tendency to get his male actors naked, Nip/Tuck is a lot more gratuitous. But Murphy better get Connie Britton nekkid too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that sensed strong Stephen King vibes from AHS. It's part of the reason I enjoyed it so much.

I think every episode will have McDermott showing his butt. It's practically a requirement for Ryan Murphy shows on FX.

This show was way more creepy than scary, but it has me intrigued enough to watch a couple more episodes.

You're not going to hear me complain, if the actors are good-looking (but there was one Nip/Tuck episode where that isn't the case). But I thought the scene where McDermott is rubbing one out both hilarious and expected of his character. (I know a few people who have actually done it in front of an open window.)
