I don't hate it. I've always felt he shoulda had that trident. In fact, they missed an opportunity when he was first created to tie him to the weapon. Just wish he did more with it besides stabbing s**t. Whats the point of having a trident if all it does is stab people? Might as well give him a Divers Knife if that's all you're gonna do with it. Far less cumbersome and could fit in his belt.

I like seeing Aquaman use weapons. Knife, trident, spear, sword, whatever. The trident makes a different statement than a knife or sword, though. My only issue here is when he walks into a restaurant in costume with this huge weapon equipped and then gets mad when someone starts asking annoying questions. Drop all the tongue-in-cheek ******** and just get on with the story.

I think it's good only Mera and Aqualad have water controlling abilities, it makes Arthur more different, but Corp does bring a point that he's just been stabbing things alot, well granted we do see him summon Sharks, so more emphasis on his brain powers and have him do herculean tasks without the trident.

Absolutely; the one small comfort I'm finding with this new 52 suckfest is that Aquaman is showing some serious potential. Hopefully it will be realized!

I loved the issue. But I can't say I wasn't expecting more out of it, but I'm sure this isn't the last we've seen The Trench. It can't be. The simple preview for the next year in the world of Aquaman got me super excited for what's to come.
The ending with the new family member was pretty swell as well.

Yeah all four issues of this so far have been ****ing awesome. I liked the simple conclusion to the trench, for now. The preview was awesome and it's such a simple question I never really asked myself until it was in print right there and really that makes total sense to do an Aquaman story about.

I've never read any Aquaman comic before this 'reboot' and I have to say, it's one of my top favorites of the DCnU. I loved this issue. It was a nice, clean conclusion. I liked the conversation the two of them had, two different but complimentary viewpoints.
I also LOVED how they showed his powers. It's subtle, but awesome.

This was the best opening arc to any of the re-launch book as Aquaman is plain bad ass.

Eh. It's all right. Not my favorite take on Aquaman by a long shot, so I tend to comfort myself by remembering that it's selling better than his past two or three series combined, which means Aquaman will probably stick around in the spotlight even after Johns relinquishes the series to someone new and hopefully better.

I'd love to see what Mark Waid would do with Aquaman. But Aquaman's kind of weird. He seems to require writers with a real passion for him, and I don't know if Waid's necessarily sitting there thinking of all the great story potential Aquaman has at any given moment. Same for Grant Morrison and Joe Kelly, both of whom did great work with Arthur in JLA.

I think once we get into the real meat of an Aquaman story with Johns it will get better.

I'm curious about the Atlantis mystery the "this year on Aquaman" thing hinted at. I mean, it sucks that Joe Kelly's sinking of Atlantis in "The Obsidian Age" is being overwritten with something that will probably be comparatively underwhelming, but I'm still curious to see what it'll be.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to when they get to that. It'd be cool if it were tied to Poseidon or Triton and we got a Wonder Woman crossover out of it.

I like to imagine it would be full of Aquaman getting high from smoking coral and talking octopuses and mermaids in gimp masks
