Probably the only one with a big enough name, compared to the other two who played Lex.

Jude Law was pretty bad-ass in Repo Men,could he pull it of?

Anyways, it seems like they always go really big for the villain in WB. Hackman, Nicholson, Neeson. Ledger was the exception, although he was big he was not the Hackman/Nicholson/Neeson name.

Dunno, with all the Lois casting rumors that took place, before getting cast Adams wasn't mentioned as an option. We could end up with a choice we hardly if at all discussed, including internet rumor Shannon.

This is what I think. With exception of Costner, the net sites has been way off as far as the casting goes for the film so far. Adams and Lane weren't even mentioned in contention as far as rumors go and Cavill's wasn't considered an option with Armie Hammer and Joe M being the two finalist according to the rumors. For all we know Lex, or whoever the villan is will be a name that's off the radar.

Which raises the question: if these Harris rumors are in fact TRUE, what does that say about the Lohan rumors? Could she REALLY be vying for a part, or worse yet, actually be in contention for a role??

DDL would be a great Lex or Brainiac if he was chosen as one of the two, an excellent choice if it ever happened.

Costner was leaked by Deadline but they didn't know the role. The same thing happened with Shannon.

I believe those rumours by bigger sites like Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter- that Viggo was/is being pursued, that Pike, Kruger and Eve auditioned for a role. Even Latino Review's rumour about Ramirez. But the production is very secretive about which role.

Costner turned out to be true, and most people guessed his role. Shannon isn't a huge name, but Deadline managed to find out his involvement but couldn't confirm or find out which role. He seems to fit the criteria for being cast as Lex. And it's not like Shannon has been greatly discussed as being Lex around the web anyway, so it is pretty low-key.

Also, they would still have to work out contracts and schedules with him as well.

For all we know it could be a known actor outside of the box, kind of like Adams as Lois choice. We could see names never mentioned that you wouldn't imagine. One day it might say "Kevin McKidd" and everyone would be like "Ya we never discussed him for the role and he doesn't naturally look the part, but I can see it. Brilliant actor. This casting will own."

The thing with people wanting DDL for Zod or Brainiac is they're not taking into account what would really go into those roles. As unlikely as it is we could ever get him for Lex, does it really seem likely he'd do something where he'd have to do a ton of green screen fighting? I'd really doubt that... if he'd ever play a comic villain, the only one I see it being is Lex Luthor. Which would be amazing

The thing about Day Lewis, Depp or Mortensen (or even McKidd) as Lex is these are good-looking guys who have a certain amount of confidence about themselves because of it. I wouldn't mind if they go with someone who is motivated in part because he isn't the most handsome or suave, who is socially awkward but brilliant. I would also like Lex to have more of the psychopathic quality we haven't seen onscreen before and all that could be tied into it.

Again, that's another good-looking guy. And a guy who was considered for Superman. It should be more than some handsome guy where you just give him a bald head. I think if Lex isn't this handsome guy then it is a great contrast with Henry Cavill, who is a handsome guy, and that explains some of Lex's anger, jealousy and hate towards him. If Lex is more than just a suave businessman with a bald head, if he is truly disturbed, and is resentful of Superman, who represents what Lex doesn't have- physicality, morality, even the kind of power the power-hungry Lex can never have, then that can be more effective. And it can set Lex over the edge.

Why does Lex have to be ugly? In a lot of the comics, he's portrayed as very good looking, just with a bald head. That's really his only essential trait. He can be good looking and still loathe Superman for his godlike abilities, as well as his a full head of hair... two things Lex will never have, despite all his money, brilliance and power.
