More Justice League: Doom casting news

The Justice League faces two sets of villainous teams in the film – The Royal Flush Gang and a sextet of notable evildoers. The latter group includes three voice acting alumni of the Justice League animated series: Phil Morris (Smallville, Seinfeld) as Vandal Savage, Olivia d’Abo (The Wonder Years) as Star Sapphire, and Alexis Denisof (Angel) as Mirror Master. Also opposing our heroes are Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911) as Bane, Paul Blackthorne (The Dresden Files) as Metallo, and Claudia Black (Farscape, Stargate SG-1) as Cheetah.

David Kaufman (Danny Phantom) also reprises his Justice League role of Jimmy Olsen.

Haha so Bane is in this? It works as an Anti-Batman (Joker and Scarecrow lack muscle) but i can't help but to think it's also promoting the Dark Knight Rises. Nice to see Cheetah and Vandal Savage in here, i guess Vandal Savage could be the Ras' al Ghul of the story?

Fillion, the star of ABC’s hit TV drama Castle, made his debut as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan in the recent Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Fillion made his initial DCU bow as the voice of Steve Trevor in the 2008 hit Wonder Woman.

Currently headlining the cast of ABC’s popular Private Practice, Daly originated the title character’s voice in the landmark cartoon, Superman: The Animated Series. He has reprised the role in two DCU films: the 2009 extravaganza Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and the 2010 thriller Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.

In addition to current primetime stars Fillion and Daly, the cast is a grand reunion of the original group of actors who provided the voices of the Justice League for the cartoon of the same name and its follow-up, Justice League Unlimited. Reprising their roles are Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) as Batman, Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville, Breaking In) as Flash, Susan Eisenberg (Superman/Batman: Apocalypse) as Wonder Woman and Carl Lumbly (Alias) as J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter. Bring on the action packed movie! Loved Crisis on Two Earths, this should also be awesome.

They had Superman and Captain Marvel fight in JLU to make Superman look dumb. No way would be they miss the chance to do so with Batman.

I couldn't even begin to imagine how to do a full feature length adaptation of TDKR without including Superman. He's one of the major antagonists in the story (and he's the final battle for Batman). It would've been stupid to leave him out, both for story reasons and business reasons (Superman and Batman together generally = $). They certainly weren't going to leave him out because a section of the fanbase doesn't like seeing Superman being a goverment tool or Batman's *****. You'd be better off hoping for Santa Clause being real.

I was brought up on Batman: The Animated Series. The voices of the characters are those characters to me, and even more so because the series still holds up. Kevin Conroy is Batman. Then Superman: The Animated Series brought us Tim Daly do a solid job voicing the Man of Steel. Finally, Justice League came along and provided great voices to The Flash (Michael Rosenbaum), Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg), and Martian Manhunter (Carl Lumbly). The upcoming DC Universe animated film Justice League: Doom will bring all these voices back along with Nathan Fillion reprising his role as the voice of Green Lantern/Hal Jordan. You can’t go wrong with Andrea Romano as your voice-casting director.

All of these superheroes will be “on their heels when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s ‘contingency plans’ for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The story is inspired by Mark Waid’s much-heralded JLA: Tower of Babel.” The DC animated films are a mixed bag, but I’ll be on board for this voice cast and because it’s the final script from the late Dwayne McDuffie (All-Star Superman). The film is executive produced by Bruce Timm (Batman: Year One), and directed by Lauren Montgomery (Batman: Year One), who is also credited as producer alongside Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series). Justice League: Doom is the final script from the late Dwayne McDuffie (All-Star Superman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths). Casting and dialogue direction is once again in the capable hands of Andrea Romano (Batman: Year One, SpongeBob SquarePants).

Warner Home Video will premiere the Justice League: Doom trailer during its presentation at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 14 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the IGN Theater. Also premiering during that session will be the Catwoman animated short that is attached to Batman: Year One, the next DC Universe Animated Movie (streeting October 18).

But why would they write it differently? Tower of Babel is not nearly as famous and iconic a comic book story as TDKR, and the showdown between Superman and Batman at the end is one of the reasons why that book was so iconic. There is no logical reason to write Superman out of that story if you wanted to be faithful to it. It would be like trying to write out The Joker, or Two Face, or the Mutant Leader, or Carrie Kelly from that story. And it would also be like trying to write out Catwoman from Batman: Year One.

Oh my God. Never****ingmind. I'm aware to be faithful you have to... Be faithful. And that if you remove an element from something there's a blank spot where that element used to be. That doesn't change the fact I don't want that tool of a **** in a Superman costume in an otherwise good story.

Justice League: Doom is only loosely based off of Tower of Babel. Hence the different villains (Injustice Gang instead of Ra's al Ghul), different characters (Cyborg instead of Aquaman, Hal Jordan instead of Kyle Rayner), etc.

It also makes more sense to use Hal Jordan. DC wants brand unity among their characters throughout movies, comics, video games, etc. Hal Jordan is the Green Lantern used in the Green Lantern movie, the Green Lantern in the main Green Lantern comic, the Green Lantern used in DC Universe Online and Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, the Green Lantern used in Green Lantern: The Animated Series, etc. And he's the Green Lantern used in most of DC's product marketing. So it's understandable for them to use Hal Jordan in this movie.
