Am I the only one who doesn't see the big deal about requiring ID to vote? It prevents voter fraud and the like. That being said, if they are going to require it, they should waive the fee for state ID cards so people in lower socio-economic classes can vote without concern.

To me, the whole voter ID thing is just stupid. If you don't have a car, take a bus. HELL, the Democrats are busing people to early voting all the time, I'm sure Republicans do the same thing.....bus them down to get a photo ID. It doesn't have to be a DL, just a photo ID.

DMV.org gives exact locations, etc.

I just don't see the big deal, unless of course you want undocumented people voting for you....then ok, I can see your problem.

The way I see it is that Republicans try to manipulate the voting process by undermining the votes of certain groups while Democrats manipulate it through voter fraud. Hence why we have them doing such underhanded things like opposing voter ID, gerrymandering districts to make the minority vote as ineffective as possible, etc.

The problem is that there doing it to suppress the vote in certain communities. When they ban College students from using there government issued student IDs but still allow people to use there Gun Licenses to vote then you know something is wrong.

Is voter fraud a widespread problem?

This is just a blatant way to turn away the millions of black voters who lack an ID card.

http://www.thefineprintuf.org/2012/01/14/no-id-no-vote/

Quote:
In the 2008 election, for example, 2.9 million votes were cast in Wisconsin. Out of those votes, 18 were reported as cases of ID fraud (less than one thousandth of 1 percent). Other closely scrutinized elections in 2004 revealed similar ratios: 0.0009 percent in Washington State and 0.00004 percent in Ohio.

Comparatively, Campus Progress estimates that 15 percent of low-income voters, 18 percent of the youth (read: students), and 24 percent of black voters would lack the qualifications to vote in 2012 based on the requirements of current voter ID laws. Additionally, a majority of women change their names after marriage and may face further complications with paperwork when discrepancies arise from previously issued IDs.

So why do they lack an I.D. card? It's FOUR years between each election. By that time, they've done everything deemed IMPORTANT to them......except go get an I.D. Then they cry foul when the time comes around to present one??

FOUR YEARS! YOU KNOW AN ELECTION IS COMING.....

I have no sympathy for a person who will not go and take care of the things they deem important. It makes no sense!

Oh.... and that much time takes any excuse out of play. Age, race, economics......

The Republicans made it an issue with months left till the election so the idea that people had 4 years to gain a voter ID is nonsense.

Oh and the Republicans know that voter fraud isn't even a minor problem in the United States. It's painfully obvious this is just a cheap tactic to hurt black turnout and voting power.

For the sake of discussion, lets presume that pretty much every President wanted health care reform. the fact of the matter is that there were maybe 3 or 4 presidents that actually did (Addams, FDR, LBJ, and Obama), and we should be looking at how they pulled it off.
