I agree with this. I'm a sucker for continuity, and eventhough Maggie is the superior actress i wish Holmes had returned for TDK. Her character wasn't that important (to me) anyway..hell i wouldn't have cared if Paris Hilton played her quite frankly.

I seem to recall reading WB pushing for Holmes replacement in the film because they blamed the films "poor" box office on the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spectacle. BB came out around the time Tom was jumping on Oprah's sofa right?

Would have preferred Maggie in both. Though I wish they would have gone with a different character that already existed in Batman anyway, like Vicki Vale.

I thought they were both as bad as each other. But since Katie Holmes was in the role first, I would have much preferred if she had been kept on. I think it would've given me a better sense of continuity and perhaps a greater resonance to the scenes between Bruce and Rachel.

Plus Holmes had done a film with Eckhart in "Thank You for Smoking" and so they would've been able to bring over some rapport for that film.

I thought they were both good. Having 2 different actors did not really bother me.

Katie Holmes provided that power and fearless trait to teach Bruce Wayne some new values.

Maggie had that wifey material trait to her, which was good for the love triangle between her, Bruce, and Dent.

If I had to choose, I would go with Maggie.

Katie was terrible in a lot of scenes:
- visiting arkham to check on falcone's situation after crane gassed him
- kiss between bruce and rachel
- first meeting between and rachel and bruce after bruce's return to gotham

I really have not seen her work outside of Batman Begins. In Batman Begins, I thought she was great. She was attractive, and she portrayed a character who was fearless towards crime very well. Overall, I thought she did well as Wayne's love interest and childhood friend.

I think Katie had better chemistry with Bale by far, but Maggie had great chemistry with Aaron and shared most of her scenes with him. I just can't help but feel the forcefulness of accepting Maggie as the replacement.

I never had any problem with Katie's version. I didn't mind Maggie either (though she isn't as pretty as Katie, by far !). In he end, I just didn't like Rachel's character. I kinda liked it when she died in TDK. Never got into her, she wa the boring part of the movies, in my opinion.
