But you're clearly missing what makes Shannon Shannon and thus, you dont know what you're talking about. It's absolutely ok to not like Shannon or his acting, but to say he's a bad actor is altogether laughable.
You probably dont like Costner either because of his "liveless" acting.

He also has a logo on his chest.
Looks like Zod's costume is basically 'evil Superman'.

The reason I ask is because people are allowed to dislike actors; whatever. But if it's for the wrong reasons like blantant ignorance or being ill informed, that's when I take a stand. Not to say that you are.

I really love that costume. It ties it all together. I'm still pinching myself that Michael Shannon is Zod. I love that guy. He's doing something totally unique as an actor. Very strange, vanity free presence. If everything works out, his Zod should be a most interesting new take on an comic villain. I imagine he's going to be a hell of a lot more odd and scary than people are expecting.

Yeah.
He visually looks great and knowing his body of work I'm expecting something great. He's an incredible actor who is known for his lively performances. Lifeless isn't a word I'd connect with him at all.

I just chalk that up to the grainy pic. I can't wait to see the shield he's got. |

Wow, exact same suit design as Supes but black. Nice imo, makes sense since Supes suit obviously is supposed to be Kryptonian wardrobe in this.
Zod looks cool, love the goatee! |

So if that's the suit Zod is wearing, why was Shannon in a mo-cap suit?

Quick Shannon as Zod manip, now that we have some idea what his suit looks like. (No goatee yet, I know):

He doesn't, usually. When he has armour in the comics it isn't the Kryptonian version.

The Jim Lee/Brian Azzarello Zod was the Kryptonian version, or at least was originally intended to be, but unfortunately fan reaction to For Tomorrow was so mixed due to how bizarre the story was that they opted to retcon the whole thing and say that wasn't the real Zod, but rather a construct of the Phantom Zone or some bullsh**.
There were interviews before the series where someone (can't remember if it was Azzarello or one of the DC execs) said that they would be re-introducing a classic villain into the series and he would be a top-tier villain once they were through. They were clearly referring to Zod (although they didn't say so at the time because his appearance at the end was meant to be a surprise) but then after the series was over, they not only dropped the Zod story but I believe acted as though the whole thing never happened in the first place. Kind of a shame, really. As I was reading For Tomorrow, month to month, all I could think was "WTF is going on in this story?!!" but once I was able to go back and re-read the whole thing in its entirety, I really thought it was quite good. But for whatever reason, at that period of time, DC was doing a lot of strange things, apparently teasing fans with ideas and then yanking the rug out from underneath them (particularly whenever Jim Lee was involved). The whole Hush debacle still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I still maintain that the entire point of Hush was to bring Jason Todd back, but the fans figured it out beforehand and thus they changed their minds and just made the red herring character turn out to be Hush instead. Which was stupid considering they brought Jason back anyway and then RETCONNED his brief appearance in Hush to say that it WAS the real Jason and not Clayface. Of course, if you haven't read that arc (don't... it's a waste of time and money) you probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

Yes, I was right... Superman's suit IS some form of Kryptonian wear.
Also... looks like a goatee for Zod. I wonder if this is on Krypton and he wears armor on earth... or if this is later on in the movie when he realizes he doesn't need armor. I hope right when the Kryptonians get to earth they aren't as fast and powerful as Superman... that doesn't make sense to me. I hope we see their power build up as the movie goes on.

I read Hush recently and enjoyed it quite a bit. Though I as rather confused when Jason showed up because I was already familiar with him as the Red Hood and his "return" in both arcs is similar.
