Agree, I couldn't have thought of a better choice to be honest! Even though I was hoping to see a new villain (Darkseid, Brainiac etc).

If Shannon's Zod is as awesome as we expect, I'd really want the character to continue in the sequel.
MOS: Introducing Zod MOS 2: Zod and Luthor MOS 3: Zod and Kryptonian Brainiac The Kryptonians VS Humans war could be something legendary. |

Not in all 3. I could definitely see him returning, maybe as an ally at first only to stab Kal-El in the back later.

Like Magneto in X-Men, I'd like to see the character evolve over the three films.
It would seem like a waste to throw him away after one film. He's got huge potential as a character. |

I'd prefer Lex to do that instead which imo is more fitting. He kinda deserves it and has even more potential to grow as a character than Zod I think.
A villain undergoing massive change through the trilogy and perhaps even finally beating the Superman. For a while that is. Of course that would mean he'd actually have to be somewhat present in MOS.

What if Shannon's Zod is like one of those soldiers who returns from duty and can't quite adjust to normal life again?
Like, he's lived and breathed the Kryptonian military all his life, now it's gone. How would that make him feel, you know? Would he have PTSD or something? How would that manifest? Could be interesting. |

Heh, then basically, Shannon would be playing his character from "Bug," only with superpowers. But it could be an interesting concept.
I'll tell you one thing though. If at some point Faora drops to the ground and screams "I AM THE MOTHERRRR BUGGGG!!" I'm walking out of the f**king theater.

Yep, it's gotten the best of him being so militant. It's all he's had to live for. And now he's being replaced by the new super security-system Jor-El created, called BrainIAC. More to tie things together and create a bigger picture.

Anyway ................ getting back to Zod.
Zod in Superman II was quite memorable as a character, but I never really got a huge sense of any military background from him. He was obviously quite stern and seemed disciplined, but very little of the script alluded to his background, and his plans for Earth didn't seem to stem from any military point of view either. I hope that in MOS we get to see more of the qualities that got Zod to the level of General - strategy, tactics, discipline, nerves of steel, decisiveness, etc. On the flip side, Kal El will have to pull something out of the box if he's taking on another Kryptonian like Zod who has the same powers as him, but much more experience in terms of battle. |

Quite funny actually, cause your post is pretty much what everyone's been thinking, so it shows we're all on the same page, even when we're not on the right page

So how about that short clip of Shannon as Zod, ey? To me Shannon looked epic. He looked kind of big, large presence. I cannot wait to get more of him, he is bound to steal the show. And what was he wearing? Didn't look like that supposed CGI suit to me and it was not the black Kryptonian uniform. Looked more like a thick coat or something.

Seems there's a lot of positive buzz around Shannon's Zod. I wasn't the biggest fan of using the character again, but I'm definitely glad to see people are digging him in the role. Damn, I can't wait for the trailer!
Ugh, I gotta get to Comic Con sometime.

It's kinda weird how Snyder didn't even wanna take Zod's name in his mouth as the main-villain.

Yeah, that was odd. Makes me wonder if something else is afoot... like Zod "becomes" another villain somewhere down the road.

Doubt it.I just think WB gave him orders not to reveal Zod as a villain as many did not want him.like me.
However seeing Shanons Zod made me pause-think ill giv him a chance |

But I mean... they already officially announced Zod as the villain. So it's just strange that he wouldn't specify anything. I'm not too wild about Zod but I think Shannon will make him awesome.

Well there are two possibilities. 1. being that his character is not named zod 2. being that everytime they say zod is the villain, its a ***** and moan fest from fans about how they are using zod again.

It always amuses me when the fans are like "NOT ZOD AGAIN!!" as if we have been constantly inundated with Zod in live action adaptations.
No, this is only the second time we have seen Zod on screen in 30 years. It's all because in the SR days, the fans were going on about how SR was a copy of STM and joked that Singer was going to follow it up with a SII remake, featuring Zod. This joke was repeated ad nauseum until they started to believe it as fact. Which was silly because an interview with the writers said that wasn't the case. Still, didn't stop them. So, to these people, Zod has been a constant presence in live action Superman, purely based on ideas in their own heads.
