I am remain puzzled as to why this scene is always under the radar when discussing the merits (or lack of) of the fight scenes in the series. Nolan got everything right in this scene. The camera work, lighting, short yet effective choreography to hide his weaknesses, etc. I think this is the best scene of Bats taking down goons in a live action Bat film. It is a shame Nolan didn't film the TDK fights in this manner. As I feel it is the perfect middle ground of the two extreme approaches he took; the fast cuts in Begins, and the 60's-esque Hollywood fight choreography in the Dark Knight.

I always thought he looked like George Clooney in that scene.

It's a good fight scene, but this (Batman VS Ra's) is still the best:

I wouldn't call that an actual fight scene, but it is by far my favourite action scene of the movies. Really Batman-esque. Creeping around in the shadows, striking out like lightning, then fading back to the shadows just as quickly. Really get the sense of him as a predator there. And the actual choreography is done well. It's fast, it's brutal, it's fluid. Unlike the slow, obviously fake and almost, robotic choreography in The Dark Knight.

I love how Batman's quickness is portrayed in this scene. The way he swoops down at 1:18 and takes out the guy with one quick punch is awesome.

I agree that it is definitely one of the best fight scenes of the series. But I'm not sure I would call it the best.

I've always thought the first fight in the docks was pretty cool. I know people hate how choppy it was but when it calms and he slowly lifts his foot over that goon...Badass.

I've always thought that the docks scene was the only truly good fight scene in Nolan bat-movies.

Isn't this thread about how no one considers this Arkham apparition as the best?
The docks scene worked because it was Batman's introduction and it's done from the criminals' POV. Then Nolan just repeated the formula ad nauseaum (just like with woprds fear, back up, etc) but the audience already knew the criminals' pov so it was useless to keep trying to surprise us with something the same style you already know. By the end of the movie the fights were blurry and unfollowable even when Batman was fighting Ra's al Ghul, who had trained Batman and taught him his tactics. |

I am partial to this one. I don't know why, but watching Batman actually kicking somebody in the face gives me joy.

The best fight scene from a Nolan Bat-Film ?
1) Knight v.s. SWAT (TDK) - EPIC, shows a legendary figure at work and how he amazes even the GPD police force by taking out not just SWAT, but Joker's Arkham goon squad as well |

The sword fight against Watanabe has a great choreography, and the editing, while not that great, is better than it is in most fight scenes in BB.
TDK's fight scenes are well shot and edited, but the choreography is mostly weak because Batman's opponents are often waiting to be hit. But the night-club scene is a great fight. The choreography is good, and it's well shot as well. The prewitt tower is an amazing scene, with a lot of action, and you can see and understand everything that is happening, but again, his opponents are not reactive enough. So, I would say the best two fights in Nolan batflicks until now are the sword fight and the night club fight.

I'd agree with that. Though I love the Prewitt building fight, too.

Love this scene.
I'd wait for some Bane fight scenes before passing judgement on the best Nolan Batman fight scene. |
