The IMAX was great, the 3D was nothing special. Definitely a conversion job that didn't add anything special to the film.

I've seen movies a few films in 3D (some filmed properly for 3D, others that 2.5D people call it) and I've never been impressed either way.

I made a point to see Thor in 2D and it worked just fine for me and I saved 4 bucks.

I saw the movie last night in IMAX 3D and again with my nephew today in regular 3D..

I'd say the IMAX 3D is a lot sharper, clearer, and brighter, so if you have an IMAX 3D option, go for it. Both are pretty good though, but with IMAX, you'll never have to worry about the screen being too dim/dark.

So true. I finally saw it in IMAX meaning I've checked out in EACH of the presentations. Personally, I thought the Real 3D sucked and actually detracted from the presentation. It was darker than 2D and, like I've said, a lot of the little nuances were lost in scenes and even performances. 2D was much better. Then, I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was the best of both. It was brighter and the spectacle popped in that 3D. I would watch it in 2D or IMAX again but NOT in Real 3D.

I said this on the other thread, but I've seen once in 2D once in 3D. Best post production convert to date, and by a wide margin. It's not Avatar, but it sure as hell isn't Clash of the Titans. You won't regret spending some of the extra money for 3D.

Don't you think you're doing a disservice to a great movie by straining to watch it in a muted version? Ex: Everything in the land of the Frost Giants was dark and you could hardly tell what was going on. Those same scenes in 2D are spectacular. IMAX offers the best of both because it wasn't as dark or unfocused. I'm telling everyone I know to watch this movie in either 2D or IMAX but avoid the Real 3D at all cost.

It is quite a bit darker, but I still think that scene looked great in 3D. Particularly the shot of Thor putting a hole in the head of that monster.

For myself I can only say I did not regret paying for 3D. As I say it's no Avatar, and no one should expect the from a post convert, but at the same time I stand by that it's the best post production convert I've seen to date.

I am not surprised that the only shows that sold out were the non 3D and Imax showings. In fact the lines were all the way down the hall for the regular 2D while there none for the
3D showings. When will studios get the message?

IMAX 3D is the only way to go, I thought the 3D was fantastic. Great conversion job.

Just my opinion but don't waste your money on the 3d. Sure it was one of if not the best 3d conversion I've ever seen, but it doesn't add much and in fact detracts from some of the best scenes in the film like the fight with the frost giants. It was an epic scene that was almost ruined by the fact that the glasses made it too dark too see.

Saw it in 2D, looked great. Haven't seen it in 3D, but I hear that Captain America's trailer is 3D for it so hey, if you're a big Cap fan and you don't mind spending the extra 2 bucks or whatever, maybe that's enough to entice.

2D is the best.

I saw the movie again last night. All of the 2d shows were sold out (I ordered my tix online) anyway there was a log jam in the lobby because people were debating if they should buy it in 3D. All around you heard the groups and couples talking about it.

Whatever there answer was I can tell you this, when I left I checked the boards one more time and even at 11:30pm none of the 3D shows sold out. And they had a lot

The real d feature threw me... I could have done without the real d.. It made the movie look like a video game a little bit.. But asgard was beautiful!!

Yeah it worked well with Asgard I think. I wish there was a Wallpaper or screen saver with the 3D panning of Asgard. lol

Seeing it in IMAX was awesome. 3D is a total waste of time. I hate the fact that every other movie is going in that direction.

I saw Thor in 2D three times and I had no trouble keeping up with the action at all, but then again, I prefer 2D over 3D anyways.

I saw it in 2d last tuesday and was pleased to see that the old format was still selling out all seats. I think a lot of people are getting fed up with post-production 3d effects, do it right or don't do it at all, it's just b.s. marketing to give people an excuse to by overpriced 3d televisions. Fine by me since it is forcing the price of perfectly good flatscreens down!

I saw it in 2D by choice, and I loved it.

I saw it in 3D. It just seemed blurry to me in the flight scenes. Cant say I was totally happy with the conversion process. Can't wait to see it 2D on blueray
