Yes, I'm a guitarist. Auditioned and got into Berklee when I was a teen, but instead went to Queens college for Literature and Journalism.

Ah. Hey, mind if I ask you a question? How do I do pinch harmonics on the 6th string? It seems that's the only string I can't pinch. I'm using a Strat by the way.

Use the bridge pickup, turn your pick a little forward so that the edge of your thumb catches the string after the pick. T hen work on that up and down the length of the strings (between bridge and ne4ck pickup). Some guitars have hot pickups and the harmonics just jump out, some guitars with weak pickups like a strat you have to play around and find the sweet spot, but it should be just ahead of the middle pickup.

Been playing guitar for nearly 15 years. I've had, and currently own several acoustics and electrics, but my two favorite babies are:
Les Paul Black Beauty with Pearly Gates humbuckers and custom wiring for coil splitting 1950's Roadworn Strat with Bardon pickups I recently just bought an Egnator Tourmaster 212. That is an AMAZING amp. Highly suggest it.

Yeah, those amps are pretty nifty. I used the Line 6 X3 Live for a few years. I loved all the effects and options it had, but once I picked up the Egnator, the only thing I needed to keep around was my wah, delay, and chorus pedals. That thing is a monster tube amp. Four channels, with "modern" and "classic" options, as well as contour selection, not to mention you can change the wattage for each channel (25, 50, or 100 watts).
if anyone is interested, check out my band's facebook page. We don't do a whole lot, unfortunately, due to our hectic schedules, but we just posted a demo online. No lyrics yet, just the instruments, but it's still pretty cool (imo). make sure you hang around for the bass and guitar solos! ;D http://www.facebook.com/pages/Audimire/118789430913

Yup. It's not as much of a difference as you'd think. From the factory, the middle pick up is always on with no volume or tone knob for it. I modded it so there are volume knobs for each pick up and one global tone knob. Also made each volume knob a push/pull for coil splitting, so I can get a strat sound out of it, too. Much more flexible. In any case, it's a great guitar. Ive had it for years and it's never let me down.

I've got Pearly Gates. They're decent, but I'd honestly spend a little bit more cash and go for something else. I'm thinking about getting some Bardon humbuckers to put in, though they're insanely expensive. My Bardon single coil pick ups retailed for about $500, but I'm pretty friendly with the local mom and pop music shop by me and they gave em to me for $350. Quote:

No, in fact I don't have pickup covers on any of my guitars. But then I usually use the stock Carvin pickups they come with, or in the case of my Jacksons change them to Dimarzios.

guitar player for about 16 years now! that blows MY mind haha
My collection has dwindled over the years. Currently I have two Rick Turner Model 1's, a Epiphone Les Paul Walnut limited edition, Cordoba nylon string, Big baby Taylor acoustic, and a "tuxedo" les paul studio |

Basicly how much trouble are they to install. I'm looking to upgrade the pickups in my 335 copy and a couple of the pickups I like don't come with covers and a few are still cheaper if you buy the uncovered pickup and seperate covers.

Ach, you are probably better than me at playing guitar.
I had limited skills, but I could get some good stuff now and again out of what I could do. I have not played in a couple of years now, my hands are pretty messed up so I can't play as fluidly as I could back in the 90s, i mean, i did not know many scales, but i could pull off a pretty fluid and fast guitar solo within that range back in the day. If i ever get my hands fixed up somehow i might go back to it. and y'know, really practice this time. |
