Just saw it!! Pretty fantastic film!! Hemsworth was excellent. Hiddleston was convincingly villainous and layered. The Frost-Giants and The Destroyer were sights to behold!!

I'm for the Absorbing Man for the sequel!!

I just saw it, but the ending left me confused and Natalie Portman's character annoyed me very much because it seems she was just thrown in for the sex appeal. What happened to Thor's brother, is there peace with the Ice Giants after that attack, and what was the brother trying to achieve at all?

Special effects were very nice though.

It was good fun. Although I knew it going in, I was still surprised at how damn fast it moved - probably to a fault. Hemsworth was aimiable and Hiddleston stole the show. Portman played her part a lot better than the character was written and almost (but not quite) made the romance work.

Everything looked great, despite the tilted camera, but the Asgard and Earth back and forth got very tiresome and I see it as a significant fault of the film: you can't go between real world and fantasy world that frequently without it negatively affecting the tone.

The movie is basically a success in that it isn't the disaster most expected, and I look forward to seeing Thor interact with the other Avengers, something I never thought I'd have said prior to the film.

3/5

-Loki was tossed into a vortex and resurfaced on Earth apparently mind-controlling/influencing Selvig.

-Unlikely. Thor and Odin would have to make amends, but till then the frost giants are probably disorganized with their leader, Laufey, dead anyway.

-Loki was trying to rid his brother from the throne and prove his worth to Odin, all the while being influenced and warped by his bitterness and resentment toward the two.

I'm probably not going to see this for a while, because I have a lot of Uni work to do. Maybe next week.

Why was Dennings in this film? Her character was completely unnecessary. Especially if, like me, you didn't find her funny.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki is easily one of the most three-dimensional comic villains so far.

I thought it was pretty cool. The first 40 mintes were the best 40min I've ever witnessed on film. I'm serious. It was epic as hell, then it sorta went down hill from there. But Chris did a FANTASTIC job as Thor.

7/10 Overall.

Ok my one complaint kind of is the trailers that played last night in front of thor...I got pirates, super 8, and another one I cannot remember. I guess i'm just bummed I didn't get to see the Captain America Trailer or Green Lantern. Did they play different trailers because it was the midnight showing?

I agree, but we're officially wrong.

The only waste is our needless posts on correcting Thor fans how something they thought was funny was in fact (according to us) not funny.

They had never seen trolls with such a high post count, lol

Holy crap, we're right! They don't think they have an argument except spell correction.

Just got back, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, I'd say it's my 2nd favorite Marvel flick so far, behind Iron Man. Hemsworth was perfect, and I LOVED Tom Hiddleston. Can't wait to see more of him.

Though I have to say, after staring at them for a couple hours, I STILL hate the set/costume designs. Well, I take that back - it's not the designs I hated, it was the materials. They just never looked real to me. Oh well, aside from that, a bit of cheesy dialogue, and Thor's super quick attitude turnaround, I loved it. But I agree that the movie could have benefited from being about 15 minutes longer.

8/10

Another thing with that fantastic frost giant fight-- my girlfriend, who is surprisingly to me not into violence or gore in movies (while I very much am), was psyched during that whole thing-
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Thor smashing the Frost Giant through the head and having Mjolnir return, Loki duplicating himself, and Thor smashing a hole through the big frost beast
all prompted a quiet, "That's awesome!" from her, which is exciting to see from someone who isn't typically fazed by that sort of thing.

If this changes anyone's mind I might as well say it: actively avoid seeing this in 3D. It makes it worse.

I heard the theater manager telling a guy waiting for the next show to start that "everyone seems to be walking out happy" from Thor, so he's guessing it must be pretty good. He also told him to stay for the end credits scene.

I actively avoid 3-D everytime I go watch ANY movie. I have never seen it used well enough that it justified the extra $ I would be forced to pay. Yes, this includes Avatar.

Completely agreed, just thought it necessary to mention for anyone pondering it for this film. It's yet another story that, were 3D any good, could have benefitted from the format. But because 3D is still terrible, if obviously doesn't.

I wasn't impressed with the 3D either. It was clearly a last-minute conversion job.

Still loved the movie, though.

i'm not really a fan of Thor except for his version in Ultimates, but this was a good movie.

I didn't read anything about this movie before I saw it really and didn't have high expectations.

Loki easily stole the show, Tom Hiddleston did a great job. Really, I don't think anyone's performance in a comic movie this year will overshadow his as Loki. I was totally lost in his character. It was unexpectedly good.

Good movie. Cast and story were great. I thought the movie was a little short and the effects could've been better.
