Default Impressive/Depressing Acts of Nerdy

I'm sure at one point or another we've all had atleast one moment that can be classed as an impressive nerdy moment, and probably many, MANY more that can be classed as depressing.

I shall kick things off with a slightly depressing one. During the first week of my current job people had still to find out that I was rather geeky. However that all changed with the release of the Dr Who Laser Screwdriver toy. I promtly bought it one lunch time, went back to find an empty staff room. I then promtly opened the scredriver, held it above my head and shouted "HERE! COME! THE DRUMS!" and then turned round to find three women looking at me like I was a massive loon. I picked up my stuff and left. That was over three years ago. I have only just started to go back in to the staff room...

So, I open the doors to you all, and invite you to tell us your stories from both sides. Although I'm sure most people will want to read the depressing acts and laugh at the person who posted it more than read the impressive ones and give you a pat on the back....

Was that a depressing act of "GEEKINESS"? That was a terrible part of that episode, if it wasn't for the fact The Master rocks that line would have killed Dr Who! Stupid RTD and his dance music!

Oh and as a dyslexic I'm appalled by your spelling. (Is that me being depressingly geeky?)

This is kinda of double sided. Almost everytime I Cosplay at a Con someone more geeky than me will come up to me and talk to me like I'm the actual character! Asking me questions about the characters life and expecting an answer! I'm cool with all the pic taking telling me how cool my costume is, but I get a little disturbed when I'm looked at like the actual character I'm portraying.

Never really had a huge geek moment at work. But I did start the first day by wearing a Green Lantern shirt into my editor's office on my first day. And everyone at the office knows where I'll be on my lunch break Wednesdays, at the comic shop. Coworkers have actually popped in to ask me stuff over there.

Hi, I'm new.

My biggest act of nerdy was when I was going over a lease and mumbling the green lantern oath to myself to concentrate. I look up from the paper work and see 40 eyes on me looking like I just got done streaking.

Yeh, I've told it before. It's one of the ones I tell people along with how I got kicked out of the Hilton Hotel London and the bottle of Sprite story.

i remember when i was about 12, i had a paper round, pretty much every morning on my round (i did it on foot) i'd listen to the Batman 1989 soundtrack by prince.

I did my round at like 7.30 in the morning, so the streets where i lived were like a ghost town, so i'd often sing aloud. One day i'm singing Bat dance 'Get the funk up, who's gonna stop 200 ballooon's? nobody' as i turn a corner a guy passes me, clearly hearing what i sang giving me the oddest look that i may in fact be a touch mental.

In september of 2006, 2 weeks into my freshman year of high school, I wore a homemade star trek uniform to class in celebration of the 40th anniversary.

When I was about 10 years old my room was in the basement of my parents house. There was a time when I shouted to the batcave and ran to the basement door, only to slip on a discarded sock and flip my way down the stairs. My younger still gives me crap for this on a nearly monthly basis even now 9 years on.

No disrespect, but did all the school mock you until you left?

You sir are a very brave man.

Well the Hilton Hotel one is from long ago on my first trip to London. My friend and I were looking for somewhere and we'd been walking along this street with posh hotels for ages and he was getting pissed off as me for shouting out "HOLY ****!! IT'S BONDS CAR!!!" and trying to take pictures of super cars. And we stumbled upon the Hilton.

At this point we were both hot and annoyed so I said I'd ask for directions at the Hilton and proceded to walk across the car park area where cars pull up to drop people off but don't really park. As I walk about half way across some cars pulled up and some big fancy wedding party got out and started to pose for photos. I kept walking right through them cause I wasn't stopping for them.

I then got up to the hotel and discovered revolving doors were the entrance. I then fell to the hotel via the revolving doors, stood there, and at this point I feel I should mention I was dressed in some rather old jeans and a tshirt that said "all glory to the hypnotoad", looked around for a few seconds and said rather loudly "bugger me this is posh!"

Then someone asked me what I was doing there. I explained and they were nice enough to actually give me directions before asking me to leave. Looking back They were very nice considering I'd ruined some wedding photos, fell into their building and swore at a loud volume...

The nerdiest I have ever been was during my school years when I was skinny, spotty and wore glasses. But other than that I have never been excessively nerdy.

I play Pokemon I guess.

One time I hijacked a mop from my last job(super market), blocked a random old asian lady from the checkstand and shouted at the top of my lungs, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

I came to my senses and notice that not only the elderly asian women was baffled, but everyone else around me as well. I then decided to let her pass.

I shout "To the Batcave/Batmobile!" like that all the time, without the sock or pseudo-cave...

You weren't really thrown out. I bet if you had said you were looking for the bar they would've sent you over to it. They just didn't want you loitering.

My brother called me once and asked me questions about Smallville and character histories from the show. Little did I know, he had me on speaker phone, making me look like a big nerd in front of his friends.
