I didn´t think it was amazing, but thought it was a good superhero movie that deserves to perform well at the BO, moreso than crap like another Transformers movie that will again make tons of dough purely out of a few cool money shots.

So I finally saw Thor on Saturday. I enjoyed it more than I expected, and I thought would enjoy it in the first place.

The flaws I had been hearing about beforehand are true. The second act is weak, Thor's character arc goes by way too fast and the film felt small in scope.

But the fact that this movie gets so much praise despite those flaws is a testament to the real strength of the film; the performances of the actors themselves.

Chris Hemsworth is Thor. He managed to be arrogant yet likeable, his transition from cocky to humble was handled perfectly by him despite that it happened way too fast, and he did this while acting like a god. That's no easy feat.

Natalie Portman had such brilliant chemistry with Hemsworth. Easily one of the best romances in superhero movies. And again that's no easy feat because the romance as written is quite shallow.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki is a contender for one of the best comic book movie villains of all time. The only thing holding him back is that he had very little to do. My feelings were lukewarm when I heard that he would be the villain in The Avengers. But after the film I can't wait to see him again.

Anthony Hopkins managed to impress as Odin despite the fact he could have easily phoned it in. The Warriors Three were also well acted, you liked them despite knowing very little about them.

It's clear that Marvel as a studio simply can't afford to have epic storylines that fully explore the worlds that the characters inhabit, or indulge in massive effects sequences. So their approach is to turn the films into character dramas, ensuring that the performances remain at a high standard. Which, to be honest, is the best thing they could have done, and ensures that these films will not fade away with time.

A solid 7/10.

Like I said, I used RT as a gauge to whether I should spend money spend on a film. I enjoyed Thor, so I couldn't care anyless about what RT has to say now. They did their job already, which people seem to forget that's why you use RT.

Took the family to see Thor last night...
I thought it was ok.. Not great, but ok.. Better than SR (what isn't?) but not as good as IM/IM2 or TIH
The other half (a non comic book movie fan) loved it (perhaps something to do with CH and his physique perhaps?)
The kids loved it.

I just got back seeing Thor with my dad today; and I really have to say, it was AWESOME! I've honestly never even read any Thor comic books or graphic novels, but this movie is going to change that very soon. LOL

I agree with everyone on the terms that this is far from a perfect movie, that much is true; just to lay out my cons, I thought some of the visual effects were just a little off, the second act of the film fell short when on earth, and Kat Dennings as Darcy did everything she could to make me lash out at the screen with a toy Thor hammer and howl at her with many rude gestures and fowl language. Natalie Portman also wasn't at her A game with her just recent Oscar for Black Swan, but that problem I believe was with the directing and overall flow of what the story asked of her. I also felt that the romance between Thor and Jane was almost mediocre and just chemically off with the timing of the film; I won't say it was forced however because by the end I did feel that there was a spark, and it will be fun to see them reunite on the screen again with the Avengers. Call be me sappy, but that's only because I LOVE movies.

All that being said, I have no other complaints about this film; I thought that it was very well written with an engaging story, the CGI and visual effects in places like Asgard were stunning, and I felt that this movie wouldn't have been as up to par without the great talents of Hemsworth, Hiddleston, and Hopkins; Idris Elba's, and as with the rest of the Warriors Three and Lady Sif were entertaining characters as well. I won't spoil it or go any further, but this has become one of my favorite comic book adapted films, and I enjoyed the hell out of this movie!!!! This the way to start out the summer blockbuster run, and Thor packs this year with an unexpected knock out; I recommend this movie to anyone and everyone.

And if you guys are looking for a little more, I go this place called Spill.com; they pretty much covered all the grounds in which I related to and felt a real agreement with. With this specific movie, I'd recommend listening to what they had to say about in an audio review.

http://my.spill.com/profiles/blogs/thor-audio-review

I give Thor 7.5/10 Stars; just as good, if not a little bit better than the Incredible Hulk in my book.

I saw it again last night and I have to say, it's much better on second viewing. I liked it the first time, but like many have said on here, the story felt rushed. For whatever reason, I didn't get the same vibe the second time around. Weird.

I'm definitely seeing it again.

This was my face walking out after -

Can't really add anything that hasn't already been said. Hemsworth rocked it (that's two movies that dude has gotten me choked up during - when he asked Loki "Can I come home?" I felt crushed ). The lad is going to be a big big star.

Hopkins and Hiddleston were both excellent. As was Portman and basically everyone involved.

Heimdall was the ****. So were the Warriors 3 and Sif (altho I'm not happy with Hogun - imo they needed someone larger and gruffer). Also, needed more Rene Russo.

Colm Feore was really really good - he seems to be getting glossed over a lot but he was very creepy and intimidating. All the frost giants were suitably large and frightening.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say the 3D was really cool. I didn't notice any blurriness, nor was the screen too dark. No problems following the action. That was my first 3D pic and I was pretty impressed. The only downside was my attention kept wandering - I'd find myself thinking "wow the 3D is cool right now" instead of following the movie but overall it was well worth the extra 2 bucks.

They also showed a 3D Red Bull ad with a chick on a dirtbike that was pretty sweet. Also, the Captain America trailer = boner!

I laughed out loud during the fight with the frost giants when he started spinning Mjolnir. I couldn't hold it in. The flight was really well done too, it really gave a sense of his speed and power.

So yea verily, Thor was a blast! I didn't post last night so I could let the movie high wear off, and now it has but I'm still gonna call it the best Marvel Studios picture yet. Cap is gonna have it's work cut out to top it, but if it does look out!

Yeah, drive-ins are nice to go to during the summer/spring when the weather is just right out, not too hot, no mosquitoes, and a nice summer breeze. Plus you get popcorn, a good flick, and can get laid all at once lol. Drive-ins are genius!

Samesies. I didn't feel the story was rushed the first time, but I felt it was very fast-paced. Same with Iron Man 2 for me, where I just expected something different. I think that's what did it-- the expectation. Like when they cut to Thor's coronation the first I saw I was like, "Whoa, we're here already then."

But I was pretty aware that the second time it'd be more natural to me and it was.

There are a couple drive-ins that are a ways away from me, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of them put Thor and Cap together despite their gap in release. It's probably more likely FC & Cap or even GL & Cap but that'd be fun.

She is THOR's main love interest. Don Blake was in love with Jane, but because they didn't want to go into trying to explain Don and Thor were two people sharing the same body, they made them separate in the movie.
