Just my opinion man, I don't fault anyone for prefering one to the other.

Lady!
And yeah, I get it, people in this thread clearly LOVE the author, and that's cool. If I published books I would hope that my fans would feel the same way about me. Just silly to argue as I'm not trying to get anyone to change their mind

If you still aren't liking A Game of Thrones, just read the remaining Catelyn and Tyrion chapters and start A Clash of Kings.

Don't get me wrong. I love Tolkien, too. LotR was the first fantasy I ever read, way back seventh grade, and LotR and video games are the primary reasons why fantasy is the big majority of what I read today, and what I prefer to write. Martin's writing is just better, though, all enjoyment put aside. Saying otherwise is like saying Peter David is a better writer than Grant Morrison. He's just not, despite my thinking both of them are just swell.

I'd read a David comic over a Morrison book

It is possible to dislike something without undermining the "quality" of it.

Perhaps I assumed the wrong thing from your statement. You know what they say, never assume, it just makes an ass out of u and me

I don't even know what to say.
... Wait! Hey! I know what you're trying to do! Don't you dare! Bad Pickles! If anyone's making an ass out of anyone here, it's me.

I got to the chapter where the Reeds tell Bran the story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree. Is it possible that Barristan Selmy may know who Jon's mother is if it Lyanna?

I thought Selmy might know since he was with Rhaegar at the Trident and doesn't seem the kind who would be oblivious to it if it were true. Last edited by Spidey-Bat; 08-09-2011 at 12:05 PM. |

Dayne was such, however, and he, Hightower, and Whent knew who they were guarding, and most likely knew the why of it, too. And I don't think it's mere coincidence that the Tower of Joy is found in the Prince's Pass, either.

Even though being spoiled can suck, I do like that I can pick up on the hints earlier. Like when Tywin referenced the potential issue of dealing with Balon Greyjoy being resolved on it's own and the old woman that tells the BWOB about her dreams. |

Well, I got to the Red Wedding chapters. Even though I knew what was coming, I was still tense. It's a shame Walder Frey only has one head to have cut off.

Sorry if I missed this earlier in the thread. I'm looking for funny books that will make me laugh. I know comedy is subjective, but what books would you recommend for a laugh? Thanks.

Yep. I threw my book. And then, because I hate books that look beat-up, I went to it, I picked it up, and coddled it like a loving father. And then came anger. And a refusal to read for about thirty minutes.

What? Tyrion, Pod, and Dolorus Edd are a riot. But yeah, dude's in the wrong thread for comedy books.
