He's never hated him but he has tried to kill him. Indirectly or by other shady terms (just giving him a shoulder pat and leaving him to die in X2) .

Here's what one website is predicting:

http://www.boxoffice.com/featured_st...en-first-class

They're predicting $70Mil for the first weekend and $155Mil Domestic.

It just p*sses me off that Fast Five made that much money ($93Mil) compared to Thor and what looks like X-men too.

Yes, it doesn't seem right or fair. More interesting to analyse why Fast Five made that much - I don't know anyone who has seen it, let alone rushed to see it on opening weekend. It must have had some heavy advertising, not that I saw much of that either.

I think it'll have a big second weekend. Either way, I think it'll be a success overall.
I'm thinking - and hoping - it could be a slow burner like Batman Begins and at least it will be a solid film for the franchise.

The website predicts Scream 4 to be one of the first summer movie with 50 million opening range. Look how it turned out. It barely makes 40 millions. Fast five is a sleeper hit of the year. It even makes more money than Thor 3D.

Since it is X-men, I hope it opens in the 70 million dollars range and make at least 200 millions domestic. International BO should be big. Perhaps 500 millions world wide.

Narnia was a let down in US, but made 400 millions world wide which was excellent !

sleeper hit of the summer:

Fast 5 : First Class : Super 8 : Cowboys & Aliens : Brides Maids.

I wonder who will come home with the title at the end of the day.

Are you crazy?

It doesn't seem fair, but it totally seems right. The Fast series is totally mainstream blockbuster. I wasn't surprised at all at the money it received, especially after the fourth movie.

The last two movies have sucked...do people really expect this movie to make 300 million regardless of how awesome it is going to be? I think this will make 225 domestic tops. I think I am going to love this movie and probably see it 2-3 times but the X-Men have to get back in the good graces of the GA and casual fans who have been burned twice.

This won't have a huge opening. The most we can hope for at this point is that it will have good legs.

If positive buzz and word of mouth spread well, we can ignore those perceptions from the last two movies entirely. It's too early to say exactly how much of an influence it will make on this movie until the early screenings begin.

X-Men films have never been 300M domestic range. Neither will this one. X-Men films historically have some of the worst legs among superhero blockbuster franchises. They get by on having a bit smaller budgets(at least the 1st two and this new one) and high opening weekends. I think XM:FC can be one of the leggiest of the series but it's not beating X1's legs(2.88X). It should beat X2's legs(2.51X) but not it's opening and won't have something like Matix Reloaded sucking the wind out of it. 75M OW and 200M(2.67X). That's my guess for now.

Best case sceniro Is First Class will hit 200 Million before leaving theatres domesticly.
I have always said First Class won't reach what X2 and The Last Stand did domesticly
but It has a shot at beating the Wolverine Domestic gross. If It only hits 155 million
Domesticly which would be lower than the Domestic gross of X-Men you can forget
about first Class sequels.Fox will focus on X4/X5.They will take away you need original
cast members for X-Men to be sucessful. No matter how well fans online may end up
liking First Class If Domestic numbers are behind X-Men and Wolverine you can forget
about First Class as a trilogy.

The budget's $120M. Fox knows how to keep costs down. of course, having only one real 'name' actor in the film(Kevin Bacon) helps as well. So if the film exceeds $300M WW and gets good reviews & WOM then I think they'll continue with a sequel.

It'll definitely beat Wolverine.

Wolverine not only had relatively low expectations to begin with, the leak did serious damage to its numbers, and its mixed reactions with critics and its bad word of mouth really hurt it down the line.

As crappy as Wolverine was, it still managed to match Batman Begins WW gross.

regardless of how bad the previous "one" was, can that be as bad as starting from scratch ala Iron Man.

if it's good it should do was well as that.

Yeah, name recognition will still give it the leg up over the other 3 this summer. But it looks like Thor's doin' swell.

Remember Wolverine actully Is the second highest grossing worldwide x film after The
Last Stand.Yes the 2 films that had a mixed reaction(The Last Stand) and negative
reaction(Wolverine) actully did better than the films people liked(X-Men) and Really
Liked(X2) Plus First Class has a leg up since they had the smaller budget.

But If that site Is right(and as pointed out they had Scream 4 as major hit when It was a
dud In reality) and It was to have lower fross domesticly than X-Men the chances of a
First Class trilogy may be In trouble.

those to "bad" films had the brand backing them up at that point.

First Class has that as well, but how much it's worth at this point is a good question...is it worth more than Captain America simply having marvel behind it?

In all honesty, I think FC will have to knock people's socks off opening weekend to gross big numbers. It can't just be alright or ok or even pretty good.

I think the numbers at boxoffice.com are somewhere in the ball park.

I wouldn't go as high as 70mil opening weekend. I'd say about 55 to 60 million without seeing any reviews at this point.

Erik has never hated Charles, and I think on some level has always considered him his friend, but it is absolutely not beyond Erik to eliminate someone because they get in your way like Charles does. He's all about the ends justifying the means. To him, he's the one saving mutantkind, and Charles and his misguided idealist X-Men are getting in the way. He'd rather not kill Charles, but clearly he will if he deems it worth the sacrifice.
