Default Transformers Dark of the moon video game thread

What's up everyone. I didn't see a topic on here talking about the new game coming out June 14th for Xbox 360, PS3, DS. The game is made by the same company that made the fantastic War for Cybertron game last year. The game's story is suppose to fill in the gaps between revenge of the fallen and dark of the moon. The game is suppose to explain things like Megatrons new transformation, bumblebee's new role etc. There is multiplayer but sadly, no co op story mode or escalation mode like in war for Cybertron.

Here is a link from ign.com

What do you guys think about it? Are you planning on picking it up next month?

I am looking forward to this game too. As long as it's as good as War for Cybertron I am good.

I would have preferred that it was more like RotF. I loved that game's controls more then the gameplay of WFCT. But WFCT's story was good.

I felt the story was so short. I HIGHLY doubt they follow the story for the movie though. I played on Medium and i think between work and taking breaks it was about 3 days that i played it. I'm sure if you were unemployed you could have played it in 1-2... The levels are long so you may walk away from it at some point to take a break.

I'm an achievement hunter, so having to do the achievements while playing through the first time takes up time too. I still have to go back and find the hidden logos.

Multiplier thoughts:

IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW WHOS UNLOCKABLE, DONT READ THIS ONE PART OF MY RANTING!
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I don't like how they dont have a transformed vehicle for Shockwave. Hes slow to move around the maps. Even though the maps are small, its a pain in the butt.

Most of the maps feel so cluttered. RotF had MUCH bigger maps. And these maps really dont have much room for hiding. I remember playing sideways and hiding to snipe ppl out in RotF, but now the snipers are out in the open.

The WFCT classes are in this game. So, some character is like another character. However they took out the healing guns. So, the "hunters" (Jets that were called scientist), use regular weapons and i feel they're the weakest characters.

Also, some classes have 1 character per chassis. Lame! I get that they left room for DL content, but at least 2 characters each would have been nice.

Extras.

Theres a small limited amount of unlockables. And i felt that there should have been more. I miss the days where you unlock new characters... now they're all DL content. But i would have loved to see more characters from the movies, and less of the characters that were tossed into the game.

Like Warpath appears as the Autobot Chassis for their tank class. If they didnt use WFCT's classes, they probably would have left this out and stuck someone from the movie in his place. Like i mentioned, they have 1 character for some chasis... Why wasn't Brawl in this slot for Decepticons? They put Transformers 2 Tank Megatron in there just to make up for it. Hes cool this way, but why bother?
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
In the story Megatron doesnt use a tank form. He cant transform till he sees the truck. So, its not like we can say they had to add him as a tank because they used him in the story as a tank.

I just really feel they were forced to add Warpath and Tank Megatron and must have said, "O great. Now we have to think up characters to fill in for the tank class" instead of just adding characters that would be fun to play.

Another thing, the characters in WFCT were different. One had more health then the others and one was stronger then the others, one was quicker... I really felt they were all the same in this game, except for the Hunters being weak as far as weapons go.

leveling up to 20 felt SO easy compared to WFCT. I think the designers slapped this game together and felt that people wouldn't play long, so they made it easy to reach the level cap.

Overall, i had fun, but the fun was over shortly. The WFCT look doesn't appeal to me, and i hit the level cap on all classes. You can reach level cap for at least 2 classes in a given day, so the motivation to play online is kind of lost since theres no progression, which is what i felt lost intrest in alot of people for RotF.

Yeah this game was one of my biggest disappointments of the year so far. I loved WFC and some parts of ROTF. I really missed the combos coming out of the vehicle and climbing the buildings from ROTF. The campaign had some cool parts but the biggest let down was Optimus' level. If you were good enough you wouldn't even have to move to beat his level, it was just a huge disappointment. This isn't the story of the movie this takes place leading up to the movie. The multiplayer was alright but its laggy and just not fun to play like WFC and ROTF.

Agreed. The transforming was faster and you felt you were more in control in RotF. You can attack transforming out, jump, do a ground slam... As Jacobed stated, climbing buildings was an essential part for online gaming... You have characters that can fly... well in this new game, they cant fly too high and not over buildings. You can only get over little trees and shacks. LAME.

It's a movie video game...which means it will suck.

So I just finished the game and I've gotta say I'm very disappointed that the high moon game department team responsible for creating War for Cybertron which was such a good game. Really delivered such a crappy game for DOTM, I kinda expected the game to be bad at first when announced since most if not all movie base game are bad. But then I had hope when it was revealed that the same team behind WFC were going to make it. What a major let down

The story is bland as a prequel to the film, The movie character designs look really cheap and not as well textured like in WFC.

Also not having Frank return to voice Megatron was a mistake .

The Cut scenes well judge for yourself

The game is good. But I still think the best Transformers game for Multiplayer is Revenge of The Fallen. It looked most like the films, and it was just a lot more fast paced and fun. This game had a better story mode than it, however.
