Cinematically, Prof X and Magneto are the faces of the X-Men movies, Wolvie isn't.

Just got back from seeing it. Loved it. Thought it was the best film from the X-movies. Didn't know this film was leaving out X3 and Wolverine out of the history, but I'm glad it did. Flick made more sense continuity wise that way.

Azazel was one of my favorites. They made the teleportation scenes in X2 look pathetic in comparison to this.

The film didn't feel crowded, or no character felt pointless.

One of the best scenes

Eh? I just got back from seeing it and the way I understood it, there was nothing major to contradict X3 or Wolverine enough to wipe them from existance.

Only hardcore fans who study these movies will notice any discripancies..

If anything, I saw plenty of references to the previous four movies.

X3 started with Erik and Charles together, with Pro X walking, but the end of this film, Charles is paralyzed and Erik goes his separate ways.

That was major enough for me for me to think; ''They must not be following X3 in continuity''. In Wolverine

Charles is walking at the end, again, another major factor.

It just depends how good someone's memory or observation is.

And it you have to look at Emma Frost and the vast differences between the two Beasts.

Vaughn said he was taking liberties with all the films too, FC retcons what Xavier said about meeting Lensherr aged 17, as well as ignoring Xavier still walking in TLS and XOW. I imagine we'll gain more insight into Vaughn's broad strokes version of the previous films if he directs sequels, we know how reverent he is towards Singer's films and perhaps a little nod here and there to X3 or the version he would've made. Beast is in FC because the audience is familiar with him through X3.

You cannot pretend two movies did not happen simply because you see
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
a character walking for two minutes in two movies. Erik and Charles are not mortal enemies, they are disagreeing men with respect for each other, and I'm sure we'll see them sharing more conversations in the sequel.

It will not be enough for me to disregard those movies. Whether we liked how they played out, they are still a part of this X-Men universe.

Xavier is crippled in the 60s but in Wolverine and X3 he could walk.

That right there is a huge continuity issue. Plus as we get more sequels to First Class, the retcons will get larger and larger to X3 and Wolverine.

Nah, you can definitely ignore two movies. Especially if they were terrible. Plenty of franchises have done it before.

My gf loves them. For that, I tap her on the nose with a newspaper every time she swoons for them.

Yeah, there are people who loved Wolverine and still do...

It's a guilty pleasure and entertaining but it is by no means a good movie. But it should be ignored in the movie universe.

I said they "can be" ignored. It's exactly possibly. Nothing makes it impossible.

And nowhere did I say everyone finds them terrible.

Please stop putting words on others' mouths. Its becoming an annoyance.

You affirmed that they are terrible movies. I merely said that not everyone shares that opinion.

Stop searching for hidden meanings in other peoples' words.

Here's the definition for the word, "affirm". I affirmed nothing. It was clearly my personal opinion.

They just advertised a "sneak peak" for the film coming up on SyFy. No details. There was a new TV spot featured earlier, though.

So I've been thinking a lil bit. What if they really wanted to reboot the franchise starting here? They could have a sequel set 20+ years later with the real first class, teenage Cyclops, Jean, angel, Iceman, and an adult beast....

That be awesome but if they use the continuity of X3 then it wouldn't really make sense for Angel to be in and if they use Xmen 1 and 2 then Iceman would be around 10 or so cause in the first two he is no older than 20 and the rest of the Xmen(Storm/Cyclops/Jean) are a lot older.

Their best bet is to use Storm, Cyclops, Jean, Beast and maybe Gambit or one of the characters from First Class

Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller did rewrites before Vaughn signed on. Even though they received credit by the WGA, their contribution to the film wasn't used. They really weren't involved in First Class at all. It's strange to me that they've been going around the last few days as "THE WRITERS OF X-MEN FIRST CLASS!!!" when they're really not. Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn are (with an original draft by Jamie Moss, even though the WGA didn't give him any credit...).

If Vaughn comes back for a sequel, he'll once again write the script with Goldman. Stentz and Miller wont be involved at all. So, Cable is just their pipe dream.
