Default Homeland

Morena Baccarin ("V," "Firefly") has signed on to star in a major role opposite Claire Danes and Damian Lewis in Showtime's new, one-hour drama series "Homeland." Baccarin will play the role of Jessica Brody, Sgt. Nick Brody's (Lewis) intrepid and complicated wife. "Homeland" begins production this month and will be executive produced by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, who recently served as executive producers on the long-running series "24."

"Homeland," which was written by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff, centers on an American soldier (Lewis) taken prisoner during the Iraq invasion in 2003. Left for dead, he miraculously returns to the U.S. after years in captivity. Carrie Anderson (Danes), a driven CIA officer battling her own psychological demons, becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to his rescue was a setup and that this national hero may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Patinkin plays Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie's boss and mentor.

The series is produced by FOX 21.
Sounds potentially intriguing.

Damian Lewis is a fantastic actor, and look forward to seeing him in this role. Danes and Patakin are great as well, I think this will be really good.

This looks interesting. I like Damian Lewis and missed watching him after Life ended.

The trailer looks quite good.

But given Mandy Patinkin's history with television, I wonder how long he'll actually stick around this time.

I'll definitely be watching, great cast and interesting plot. Hopefully Mandy sticks around for more than the opening season, provided it's picked up again.

The main plot seems a little bit thin (a POW who might be a traitor for Al Qaeda?), but it does have a nice cast (Claire Danes and Morena Baccarin? Yes!), and it is shown on Showtime, so this series may be edgier than your average shows from the major networks. I'll check out some feedbacks for this series first before I see it for myself.

Watching the pilot now, I agree with Raiden about the plot being a bit too simple but I'm going to follow this because it's Claire Daines

EDIT: okay, so this show got even better when Danes character showed signs of psychopathy

Large portions of the pilot reminded me of the movie Brothers. It's gloomy, disturbing stuff, but interesting.

I enjoyed the pilot. I will definitely watch the first season to see where it goes. My problem with it is, I do not know who to trust. Even Danes (who is essentially the eyes of the audience) is unstable and unreliable. It needs a Jack Bauer, someone to be the audiences eyes who is never compromised.

Yeah, I got the same Brothers vibe from the pilot too. I really enjoyed the episode and can't wait to see what happens next. I hope there's a lot of twists and turns. Kind of reminds me of Rubicon also.

I rather like how you can't trust anybody on the show. The unreliable narrator is great on film (noir especially), but trying it out in long-form as your main protagonist could be really, really interesting. It is nice because while I'm sure most people on this site enjoy seeing Inara....like that, the domesticity on the show feels very forced at the moment.

Are you referring to the whole rebellious daughter sub-plot? Cause I'll agree on that but everything else dealing with the wife I think is great because its pretty believable.

I was thinking that myself, especially that bit where the one soldier was forced to kill the other. I knew that was what it was going to be even before they flashed back to it the second time there at the end.

The whole angle of a US soldier turned potential inside man is something i didn't think any network would be bold enough to run with atm...
