I think the only reason why I haven't watched this film more than 6 times is because I want the experience to still feel fresh when I get it on Blu Ray.lol
Be that as it may, if anything, i do see there being a chance that Thor's sequel will come out first, and not because of the difference in BO numbers, but because Thor was released first so it's likely to have had more timing available to think about sequels. That, and if speculation is true, if Joe does not return for a sequel, then the search for a new director could take time, thus having it released in 2014, whereas Thor 2 will be released behind of Iron Man 3 in 2013. Be that as it may, I mean no disrespect to Thor, but I will admit that I will be genuinely surprised if Thor ends 2011 as the highest grossing comic book film at the BO. |

I kind of hope that they have a special SHIELD Vault feature in the DVD/Blu Ray like Iron Man 2 did, only with updated info on the Avenger Teammates. |

$180 million US/$460+ million worldwide isn't so bad for Thor. And even though I hate the 3D version, that's partly why it was able to get that high.

Agreed; any film imho that can AT LEAST make its budget back plus a little more domestically, while earning a lot more in the foreign market is off to a good pace.

Going into the summer, I was expecting Thor to do well, but I was also expecting at least one other comic book movie to do better. Cap could still do it, at least domestically, but for the worldwide numbers Thor has a pretty legit shot at #1, which would be a welcome surprise.

Because personally I'm more interest in a Thor sequel and Thor in general than Cap, so it's pretty understandable that I want to see a Thor sequel first.

And here's your script right here: ![]() ![]() This was a great two-parter where Ulik and the Troll king come up with a plan to eliminate Thor and then invade earth. Man, you gotta see the ass-whooping Ulik gives Thor in the first part, lol...

THOR is getting a sequel, for sure!!!
Wish it could've gotten to $200m though. Now I'm waiting on hopes for an X-Men:FC sequel. It should be at or close to $140m after the July 4th holiday weekend. Now, lets see how Cap does.

I couldn't believe an article I read where they were lumping GL in with Thor, asking "why aren't superhero films doing well?"
Un freaking believable! While 177M may not be a monumentous hit domestically, you add that world wide box office, and Thor is an absolute smash, for an opener. Green Lantern very well may fail to make 200M world wide, or will be just over. I have no freaking clue how you could lump both those in the same catagory. |

I saw that article and man did they miss the point! Thor made almost $450M WW so how is that a disappointment?
One thing that they were right on was the 3D part. That is what is really bringing down the box office of these movies. I honestly think Thor would have made more if it wasn't filmed in that crap. I also think it's going to hurt Cap as well, though I think Cap will probably bring in $180M. That article was total BS.
