It's at the very least getting a pilot.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman are already shows that had pilots but not tv shows, Wonder Woman's Pilot was terrible, but Aquaman's pilot was very good, i hope Arrow doesn't join the club of failed pilots

Aquaman only didn't happen because the woman in charge of The CW wanted more Gossip Girl-like shows. She cancelled Reaper too. Luckily she's gone now and the new guy wants some stuff for both genders.

Ho, boy... this series really is just not getting any better is it...
I mean, what in the world was that choppy-changey mess this month? And his appearance in JLA? Social conscience huh? Where is that exactly in his own book? The guy's just all about having fun and ignoring his company entirely. Aside from the interesting switch up that Aquaman was somehow involved in Ollie and the island, his whole appearance simply made him look like a teenaged side-kick wannabe. |

I am still really not liking this artist. Everything is really scruffy looking and unclean. I couldn't tell who was talking at some points. ugh i miss Brad Meltzers writing.

Aaandd... I'm out. The one DC title I buy, and Nocenti has managed to put that final nail in the coffin of a series of writers since the reboot who have completely destroyed the character.
The story (if we can really call it that) was completely impossible to follow, the art was below subpar with confusing layouts and leaps in storytelling. Ollie with guns?! Dear god what an awful switch up. Stick mini arrows in them all you want, he's still shooting guns so they may as well be bullets with pointy tips. Like I said, I only read Green Arrow from DC so I don't know if any other characters have been obliterated as much as Ollie as part of the Nu52. But there is absolutely nothing of the previous character remaining in this iteration. The only chance of any kind of redemption as far as I can see, is if we suddenly leap forward five years to a slightly older, more adjusted and socially aware, and less dick-like Ollie. That would at least explain away his child like behavior in JLA last month (though as near as I can tell that issue was set in the present, leaving me to question the relationship of the JLA with all the other DC heroes and what that means for the entire DC history that we're told has been preserved). And it would explain explain the presence of Roy in Outsiders when he appears to be the exact same age as Ollie is in his book. Oh, and also a jump in time might do away with that bloody "team" of his... But still, I'll just have to keep an eye out for interviews with (yet another) new writer who is going to take that jump and reinvent him (again). Because I won't continue to buy the book month after month in the hopes that things have changed (which I've been doing for the last six months now). It's that kind of foolish loyalty that prevents the editors from ever realising they're ballsing things up as the numbers never change. |

I was trapped in that endless cycle for a while. Ended it with the fourth or fifth issue of brand new day over in Spidey. Picked it up again now that it's good, and even though there's a gap in my collection, I'm so glad I don't have 20 or so extra issues of something that was just plain awful for the sake of a complete collection that I'm never going to sell anyway.
Makes dropping Green Arrow even easier. Although in this case there's the risk of DC dropping GA altogether if a significant number follow suit, rather than just changing direction. Despite his smallville presence and new solo show, I'm not sure GA has enough clout to maintain a title if it's really tanking. Could be in the Alpha Flight/Excalibur league, which is sad given the age of the character. You know what'd be an interesting experiment for Green Arrow? Try out a Jason Todd. Online poll on DC's website with a number of categories listing potential directions/approaches/change for GA and get the public's view of what DC should do with him. Because aside from the concept of Ollie's forest living (the rest of which was pretty badly carried out), and his initial return from the dead, every new direction attempted with him has pretty much failed. A qualitative study using readership data could be the only fair shake for the guy. Still has the classic "Can please some of the people etc etc", but at least its not just taking YET ANOTHER CHANCE on a new writer's spin on what they think is a blank slate with a bow. Just for fun - any ideas on what they should have done with the reboot for him? Last edited by chris moore; 05-15-2012 at 01:00 AM. |

So what?
They cancel the book, and he'll get a new one in a couple of years. You're not helping anything by buying a terrible book.

That's actually not too bad.
His arrowing even seems a bit more legitimate than Hawkeye did in the Avengers.

Solicits up for September. While I'm out for now, I'll be picking this up for several reasons (and then probably dropping it again it the same teams comes back and the direction remains)
1) Though it's Krul, who ballsed up rise and fall, at least it's not Nocenti 2) I just have to see what tragedies befall his origin and how they explain the introduction of the new team arrow (and how Roy is maybe a year younger than Ollie in current continuity and seemingly never a side kick or partner) 3) On the flip side, maybe this reveal-all will renew my faith in where they're going GREEN ARROW #0 Written by JUDD WINICK Art by FREDDIE E. WILLIAMS II and ROB HUNTER Cover by IVAN REIS and JOE PRADO On sale SEPTEMBER 5 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T • Oliver Queen is young, rich and reckless…what could possibly go wrong? • Discover the events leading up to the birth of Green Arrow, and Ollie’s history with Roy Harper!

I actually liked the last issue. He seemed more mature and concerned about the people in issue 10. And the politics over the people choosing to be robots and the culture that comes with it really made Ollie think. I liked that.

I've been wanting to get into the back issues and start reading this thing from beginning to end, have all of the issues been worth spending the money and time?
