They should have let Snyder be Snyder...or they should have just hired Michael Bay...

Now we didn't get half the coolness that makes Snyder Snyder. What made some of his previous films dope, or the coolest parts of his previous films were his slo mo moments as well as action style where you could actually see the action at all times. In place of his ultra sleek style, he gave us a generic shaky cam thing as well as close up Nolan style fights that at fast speeds are horrible to tell the story of a fight. This is where aspects of the bag CGI agent smith vs neo fight in Matrix 3 are superior to the Zod vs Kal fight in MOS.

Why hire John Woo for an action movie and complain when he has doves and bullet time? stupidity and annoyance. I feel Snyder was another Michael Bay action director in MOS, but because he is a BRILLIANT cinematographic director MOS looked way more beautiful than any Bay film could dream of, but sadly, i didn't go to watch Dark of the moon with good cinematography and great actors. I went to watch ZACK SNYDER's Superman, but feel like I didn't quite get that. The fights were solid overall and entertaining, but I'm just imagining how much more they would have been with Snyder being allowed to be Snyder. remember how he shot the fight in Watchmen as the end and at the beginning? remember the 300 fights? remember the Sucker punch fight? no matter your hate for the film? remember the Legend of the Guardians fights with friggin OWLS?????!!!!! Some of the coolest fights in all these movies to ever hit the big screen IMO...Man of Steel felt very videogamish with the excessive need to use CGI instead of be creative with green screen and well trained actors. 90% of what was done with CGI could have been done with practical effects and felt REAL. smh...anyway.

^ I actually would like to see some time ramping and locked-in camerawork for the sequel. It was a little unnerving to practically feel the cramp of the cameraman's wrist as he struggles to keep it somewhat steady. But I like the shaky-cam for the flying close ups.

Snyder did what a good filmmaker is supposed to do: adapt your style and approach based on what the material demands. I was expecting lots of slo-mo and speed ramping, especially considering how fast a Kryptonian can move, and it was so refreshing not to get that. It was the right way to shoot it. It gave it the feel of something that could actually be happening in front of a camera in addition to just being completely badass.

As for the Bay comparisons. Bay would destroy MOS, and have a sexy Lois who couldn't act, crazy rapid editing, etc.

Snyder's a MUCH better fit.

I agree, but yes...imagine what he did with this...

Man Of Steel would have waaaaay more garceful if SNyder was allowed to make it being himself 100%

yea, but we got ****** cgi in place so no. If they wanted the "this could really happen" feel, they should have given us a moovie with the Chronicle or District 9 look that looks ultra realistic for sci fi. It ended up still looking like a "block buster movie" if you know what I mean. I would have loved to see some of the flight in beautiful slow mo with water or debris splashing of his face. Slow mo in an epic battle can really add depth to the feel. Legend of the Guardians had some of the most amazing sequnces of animated battle ever because it had that Snyder stamp. If you don't like an artist, don't make him adapt to what you like, rather you find an artist you do like and move on. I personally LOVE the graceful beauty of Snyder movies, but feel I got more Mike Bay from this movie that Zack Snyder.

This film didn't need slo mo and it is stale and passe anyways. Instead, Snyder drew on many influences to present hard hitting action in a very clear way. Personally I think he adopted the visual language that has been developed in fighting games, especially when it came to Faora in smallville. The way both she and the camera moved were great.

Only terms of the way it was framed which was clearly, energetically and with impact. I see no problem with it just because it "looked like a videogame" in some ways videogames have a leg up on traditional film framing.

^ For me, if you hate on the Smallville fight, you pretty much hate superhero fight scenes. For the sequels, I want more locked in work, though I feel like he went out of his way to avoid the recognizable marks of a ZS movie. I do hope he takes the criticisms to heart and improves. Compare Nolan's fight scenes in BB to TDKR. The technical craft is better, though he should have found a better choreographer and edit out OBVIOUSLY fake hits.

Don't remember any Scrotum's in Pearl Harbor, but then again that wasn't based on a toy commercial. Speaking of which, talk about a well shot Americana...

Micheal bay would have hired bad actors to play the parts and would have had the military do most of the work. He would have most likely hired Megan fox as Lois lane and had her seducing men for stories.

Zack Snyder hired a 4 time Oscar nominee to play Lois and filled the rest of the cast with very experienced actors. Zack respected the source material and even had superman break down after killing Zod.

Micheal bay would have pissed all of the source material
