I wonder if they'll try to imply that Cavill's Superman is supposed to resemble his father like they did with the Donner films and other portrayals?

Well Cavill resembles Crowe a helluva lot more than Reeve resembled Brando, that's for sure...

Reeve was supposed to resemble Brando? What?

Brando was playing Reeve's biological father. It's not necessary that they look alike, but it's a nice touch if possible.

Unless Lara slept around.

With a big name like Crowe attached to the role, I wonder if they'll play on the whole father son dynamic in this film as well, though hopefully not in the manner that S:TM did, but more on how tragic it was for Jor el (and Lara) being robbed of the chance of never having gotten to see their son grow up or know on what fate has for him, etc.

I hope it's handled like Birthright did. It was done masterfully.

I highly dislike Crowe, but it's not the end of the world.

The opposite actually. that's why Brando used that white wig that was somehow similar to Reeve's Superman wig.

Birthright had it's flaws, but the intro and outro definitely weren't one of them. if anything, the parts i remember most about Birthright revolve around the pages where Krypton is shown.

Given that Zod is in this film, I would expect for Jor el and Zod to have scenes with each other, and thankfully, it won't be a scene where Jor el is trialing Zod, who is imprisoned within a pair of spinning circles.

I find it odd they they will be using bits and pieces from the comics when bits and pieces from the comics came from the original Superman movies!

If my memory serves me correct, the comics version of Zod wasn't as popular and 'dominant' as he is now before the Stamp's portrayal of Zod. Hell, Ursa wasn't even a real character and was just based off of Faora.

True...Donner made Zod popular and Faora was indeed the inspiration for Ursa

I just pray at the moment that Jor el won't be portrayed or represented as some all powerful and knowing hypocrite in this film as he was in the Donner films.

Like I said before, his FIRST and ONLY priority when it comes to sending his son to a new world is that his son has the chance for surviving their race's doomed fate and having a better future.

No, "you will be Earth's greatest hero since I have made that to be your destiny" nonsense.

I want to really see on how sad Jor el is that he won't ever get to see his son grow up.

Also, personally, I'm sort of leaning against the idea of Clark being presented with some form of way of communicating with his dead father like he was able to in the previous films (regardless if it was spirit or AI).

Better than being a freaking God like he was in Smallville.

And the irony in this is that SV's interpretation of Jor el was largely based off of Brando's one.lol

I think that Russell Crowe is great for the role of Jor-El, because he can deliver that tough guy demeanor, while still showing signs of affection and love, like in Gladiator.

Wouldnt it be cool that to introduce this film to the general public that they release a 10 minute short film featuring Jor-El as an action hero and Zod as the villian(and a glimpse of Brianiac), that sets up the story and its Kryptonian "mythology" and end with Zod being vanished to the Phantom Zone and Jor-El discovering Krypton's eradication, which leads to the first scene of the movie. I think that will get fanboys across the globe excited.

I was just thinking - this will be the first time I've seen Russel Crowe in a movie where he is not the main character

I think I'll like him better when it's not all about him.

Unless its like S:TM in which case he may be a main character. Or maybe he thinks "Man of Steel" refers to himself.
