Surprisingly even as a complete OG costume supporter for MOS, I wouldn't be to against that for the movie.

Only and only if it's still clearly explained that Superman/Kal-el is still very much indestructible but that's just an alien costume with armor due to the different circumstances in Krypton versus those of Earth (meaning that they're indestructible when being powered by our yellow sun versus the sun Krypton had).

I never want to see black on a Superman costume unless he is dead/returning from death.

I don't think a black S adds anything to the costume.

Fleischers had black and I love that suit. Although maybe his outlining should have been yellow/gold instead of red.

Fleischer's cartoons are fantastic. Probably the best animation I've seen, and if there were to be a new DCAU, that would be the animation I would want, of course, updated, but I don't care for the \S/. Black does not belong on Superman.

This is the suit that Siegel and Shuster's heirs will own in 2013, right?

This one:

Only major difference between the Warner one is the shield, but it's enough to be sued as a derivative, should they lose everything.

Ah ok... 'cause I was thinking they might wanna show the original suit on the big screen before 2013, to show their respect. But I dont think I would want to see that anyways. I dont think many would, in a contemporary setting.

I think this is a misconception.
The sheild's background color is IMO a dark blue. The cartoons are "lit" in a film noir type light, it is only in the brief instances that Superman is bathed in bright light when the blue is apparent. The weak quality of the videos also contributes to the misconception.

Unfortunately I can't locate any images to illustrate this, but if one closely watches the cartoons particularly "Mechanical Monsters" when Superman enters the cavern, and "Billion Dollar Limited" when he is being machine gunned, there is strong evidence for a blue background on Superman's shield.

That was one of the first cartoons I watched

My parents had a few tapes with old superman cartoons and old mighty mouse

I also watched a lot of 3 stooges and star trek with my dad

I remember seeing that when I was a kid and instantly loving it. I always have liked that costume too.

Thanks. I figured, with all the black/red S commentary, it needed a repost.

i dont think that is true. just because it looked like dark blue in one particular moment doesn't mean anything. blue light can reflect off of a black surface. its black

It is clearly black man...one or two shots is not enough to say it's dark blue.
