Maybe, but it's kind of a no-win situation. Damon Jr. left amicably, because he had a previous committment to do an existing show that wasn't renewed until the 11th hour. If they replaced Coach with a white guy (or Asian, or Latino) they'd be cries of whitewashing and racism. If they replaced the actor but for the same role, they'd be similar accusations of "all blacks look alike" racism (precedents as to the 2 Darren Stevens and multiple Doctor Whos notwithstanding).

So the best thing they could have done was just create a new role for a new black actor to fill. Keep in mind, both characters are well-adjusted male characters who don't talk like rappers, wear normal clothes and are usually the voices of reason in their group, which is a decidedly non-stereotypical portrayal of African-American men.

And honestly, apart from being black men, Coach and Winston don't really seem that similiar. The pilot showed us that Coach had some rage issues, whereas Winston seems more laid back, as shown when he didn't yell for Jess to get the **** out of his room for interrupting his hangover.

Wow...after the last two being uneven (either very funny or very "meh"), I was ready to put this show on the backburner if it was more of the same....but that episode was genuinely hilarious. I laughed throughout, a lot. The show has earned two more episodes to prove it has consistency for me to stick with it.

I'm loving this series. Every episode has been hilarious IMO. Especially Zooey. I loved the dance off and chicken dance at the end.

Not a fan of this show. Do people actually like it? The writing is weak and not funny, and I'm getting sick of Zooey Deschanel's persona. At first I thought she was doing a great portrayal of a stoner chick, but now I know that's all she can do.

Indeed. It still is rough around the edges, but each episode is ironing it out more and 1.3 was the first that convinced me it can last a long time.
