Okay, can anyone with Photoshop skills just take the classic Reeve suit and put the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man texture on it? Then darken the colors?

I think this would be the ideal look.

I also want to re-post a pic submitted by Camp Blood:



I really dig this take. I would just add texture to the suit (in addition to seam lines), straighten the belt loops, and go with the classic \S/. To me, this would be a perfect movie version of the classic suit, and I can't see why ANYONE in the GA would be opposed to the trunks.

EDIT: I'd also give the belt some more detail. One of the things I liked about the SR boots was the texture. Maybe just a seam running down from the middle point of the l\/l?

Granted he is instantly recognisable as Superman...
However...
He IS wearing armour.
And that \S/ is total ****.

Not big a fail as i'd first thought but a fail is still a fail.

EDIT Again : oh yeah he's seen the pile of crap Superman's wearing.

I'm really digging the hell out of that latest look at the "redesign." Looks like Superman to me.

tried my hand at doing what red hood suggested i also raised the red of the S slightly to add some depth but not a lot, thats a up-close of the texture at the bottom

loll That is never going to be the next design for the movie,in this days is ridiculous to wear something like that lolll

Nice job. Can you lengthen the cape to just below the calf? Maybe put Cavill's head on there too.

Try wearing even the new suit in public and see if anyone takes you seriously. I dare you to wear any modernized and updated suit in any recent superhero movie. It doesn't matter what they do to make them less "ridiculous", people would still laugh at a guy running around like that in real life.

I think you are wrong. Superman is fantasy. People can accept different things when it comes to fantasy films. The Green Lantern or Spiderman don't look like he would fit in anymore than Superman but people don't ask those questions. The audience will care about the plot and action, not what Superman is wearing, well cause he's Superman.

I do quite like this design. The lower cut of the leg on the trunks makes them look better.
If they go with the new DC design instead of something like this then I'll kill myself.

I actually don't mind the new design. But he is saying it will look ridiculous to people. Superman is an established iconic figure. The GA will suspend their belief in what is rational and believe in the world the film creates. I am not saying a new modified suit can't work. Only that the classic design won't seem silly like people are making it out to be. Now if you are asking what I prefer, it's classic all the way, but I suppose a new suit could work too. It's fantasy, people can't fly and shoot laser beams out of their eyes either.

Is it wrong that I actually really like the way the boots are drawn in this picture?

The suits in general are very well drawn in that picture. Something worth noticing is those seams that appear on Superman's suit are also mildly visible on Hal.

I think this would be the ideal look.

Looking at this picture it really highlights the problem with the collar area. It doesn't look right from a design standpoint and see why they decided to go with the higher collar for the new costume. The boots

The only problem with the new costume is the high collar. Its unacceptable that Superman is not going to wear his costume under the clothes = NO SHIRT RIP.
