Again, I don't know what go-go dancers you guys watch, but they put their tips in their underwear, not belts. If anything, the lack of the speedos make him look less of an overdressed go-go dancer.

I think we can officially get excited, folks. With filming set to commence in six short weeks, my hope is that we get to see Henry in the new Superman Suit veryyyy soon.

I'm going to ask this a 3rd time... Can somebody do me a favor and manip the new suit with just an altered lower collar but DONT ADD trunks or change the color of the belt??? Oh, and please make the sleeves with a more traditional cut( no red trims also) instead of the Supergirl sleeves.

It's compounded by the separations that insinuate armor or an exotic material.

That being said I dig the new S design. The boots just look too busy and unnecessary. The belt is pointless and lacks the design quality of the original. The trunks and belt served as a way to break up the color scheme in the costume. It's predictable in the sense that it's what I've come to expect from someone in the comic book industry trying to reinvent the wheel. It will last a few years and then we'll have another redesign that restores the classic version in some form and they'll make a big stink about it to sell more comics.

As far as using this or a variation of this for the film? I could take it or leave it but it's not a clever enough redesign to get me excited. It's, for lack of a better word, boring. The sad thing is the people in charge think removing the trunks and changing the suit slightly is going to magically rejuvenate the character.

The suit only works there because of Lee's overly-shadowed, scratchy rendering. As seen before, cleaner artists like Perez make it look stupid. Which is the fault of the design.

For that same reason, the suit would never work in live action.

On the contrary, while some artists might be unable to make it look good, on the screen the suit has enormous chances to work, as they won't have a different approaches but just one. And just as Batman black armoured suit worked in 1989 in spite of being quote different, this could work beautifully.

It's just the original costume with some lines on it, no red trunks and a belt that looks even more naff than the old one. Exactly what advantages does it have in live action? If anything, it has an even harder time looking good because all the flaws of the original remain, without the familiarity of the original to support it. It just takes the trunks away and replaces them with a gaudy belt which will serve nothing but to make us stare at his now bare crotch even more.

I would pay money to see if there other artists took a shot at a redesign. Cully Hamner was apparently involved in redesigning some of the other suits. I have a feeling his take would have been FAR better than Jim "My Best Days Were Never That Great, And They're Way Behind Me" Lee.

I still don't understand the logic of getting one of the most '90s style artists to redesign classic characters for the year 2011.

Got to say I'm not impressed with this costume version. So I took an image that Batman44 had recently uploaded (loved their alterations) and made some further changes to the boots and then the trunks.

B44 if you are not happy about this, please let me know and I will remove the image.

Personally, I prefer my restyling of the boots as they look a bit more like the classic ones, but still a bit different. As for the trunks area, I decided to try a darker blue to see what it came out like. I'm still undecided as to whether it is better than that on the left.

Anyway, do let me know what you think...

Because the characters would have been growing up in the nineties?

I kinda like the boots. I'm not digging the blue trunks tho...For me it makes it stand out even more than red ones. Again, the boots look good.
