Ranting?

Funny how when you don't like something it's all good. If I don't like something it's ranting. OK bud.

It's not my fault Bay has the "ram it home" mentality.

Just my observation whilst skimming through some of the posts. You're on a roll, nothing but negative things to go on about. Hey, it's your opinion based on what you saw and this is mine.

I can't remember the last time I didn't like a film(Thor/GL even TF3) that I did nothing but go on about the negatives and never mention a single positive...but like I said I just skimmed.

Are you really getting all Bill O'Reilly on me? LOL .... must I mention one nice thing to be fair and balanced?

OK I will give you one. I chuckled at Hal's buddy talking about the alien proposing to Hal when he showed him the ring .... and in DOTM I thought the opening sequence was well put together.

Outside of that man, both of those two movies are flaming piles of crap IMO. I can't help but notice the flaws, they grind on me like nails on a chalkboard .... and I'm not some indie film elitist looking to have my mind tickled by every movie I watch.

Ranting and nails on the chalkboard have the same pitch in some areas of the world.

I just couldn't help but notice the frequency of the post and that they were all neg's
If I only had bad things to reports I'd just avoid said forum entirely, ie ghost rider and iron man...if I even watch the movie that is.

Why should I avoid the forum? Is this like some stock message board where only pumpers are invited?

Didn't say that, I just mentioned what I do.
If I were to make a blanket statement it's that when "negatron's" fill a board up, it seems to detour newbies and such from expressing their opinions. Might make be better for everyone to mix it up a bit.

Mark Kermode.

I don't know if it's elsewhere in the thread, but Ebert ripped this film a few holes, too.

I went to see TF3 last Friday with my wife, and I thought it was alot better than part 2 but emotionally not as good as TF1. Here are the things I like:

1) CGI - I thought ILM did an unbelievable job with the whole movie, even though there are way more Transformers to animate and render and they have to do it on Chicago and in broad daylight. With them doing the Avengers, my hope is that they will deliver another solid effort in next summer.

2) Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - I didn't really think she'd be good, and I thought she's be a distraction, but surprisingly she did a pretty good job with what she's given. Sure, she was an eye candy, but the same could've been said about Megan Fox's character. For a Victoria's Secret model, she wasn't half bad.

3) Sentinel Prime - From Nimoy's voice acting, to the look of this former Autobot leader, he was probably my favorite in this movie. And the double-crossing made him into a much more complex character what what it seems from the trailer. I was just surprised for him not to accept the Matrix from Optimus Prime, because I think he could've used it against the Autobots later on.

4) Laserbeak - It could've used more screentime, and he was the best Decepticon imo in this movie.

What I didn't like:

1) Megatron - He went from a badass Decepticon leader in TF1 which had Optimus Prime almost rolling over in his fight against him, to a pathetic Cybertronian who only got an upper hand because he blindsided Sentinel Prime in his fight against Optimus, and seconds later got his spine literally taken out by Optimus Prime with only one good arm. Really sad and unsatisfying end for what was supposed to be a great Decepticon leader.

2) Sam - Don't know, I just didn't really care about him nor Shia's performance. I think I just got bored with his character and his antics. Same could've been said about most of other human characters too.

3) Decepticons - So, you outnumbered the Autobots by hundreds to nine, and yet you still lost? And why did you held the Autobots hostage in the first place? Btw, Shockwave was next to useless. I can't think of any worthwhile thing he did except for that lucky shot against Optimus' jet wing.

4) Autobots - Hmm, anyone else besides Optimus Prime want to show up?

5) The last 1/3 of the movie - I know it was filled for wall-to-wall action and Transformers up the galore, but emotionally I was becoming detached even after seeing the city of Chicago being destroyed. For some reason Bay zeroes in on the actions but the rest wasn't up to speed.

I'll give TF3 about 6.5 out of 10, but my score may go up or down after much more reflection on this movie.

Btw, that cartoon above my post is pretty spot-on.

Its taken a while to get round to it but after seeing the movie last Friday I will give my review.

Overall, I walked out of the cinema dissapointed, I have been a staunt supporter of Bay throughout this franchise, but now I think its time for him to leave. After all the promises of this being better than ROTF in every aspect, I just dont think he delivered, yeah, its a better movie than ROTF but not by that much, and again its no were near as good as the first movie.

I dont get it, the story and emotion were spot on in the first movie, the action was some of the best ever in ROTF, combine the 2 and you have the perfect TF movie, so I just dont get why this was so difficult. Bay, despite his detractors has proved himself capable in the past with the likes of TF1, Bad boys 1 and The Rock, so why couldnt he do it here when he had all the ingredients?

Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but so much was wrong with it, was there honestly any point in Shockwave, one of the most powerful and feared decepticons in the comics, being in this movie? He did nothing, hell, his 'pet' did more, then he gets f'd up by some humans before being punched in half by Optimus. Megatron was even more pointless, honestly, why was he in this movie? I couldnt believe my eyes when he didnt fight back to Sentinal Prime when he had him up against the pillar, Megatron ripped Sentinal limb from limb in the comics.

Again, also, there was too much focus on the humans, especially during the final battle, which I got a bit sick of in the end as it was just too much, and I was also dissapointed with the majority of the Autobots, especially Bumblebee, getting very little screen time.

7.5/10, as I said, I enjoyed the movie, but it couldnt match the story and emotion of TF1, and not one action scene in DOTM topped Optimus's forest fight scene from ROTF, both of which were dissapointing, so for me its time for Bay to go.

Massive disappointment, i have to say...maybe i expected too much.

For a start it was too long, with long periods where nothing really happened.....all that rubbish about pillars, space gates, the moon and russian astronauts? I realise they needed some sort of plot but really, it could have been simpler. Anyone going to see a movie about big robots smashing each other up will generally only be interested in the action. Which brings me to my second point.....

Plenty of action yes, but the majority of it involved the decepticons blowing things up while the human cast just ran round shouting and screaming. The scene with sam and the soldiers sliding round in the collapsing building was dragged out so much i actually found myself getting angry. I am sure i am not the only person who wanted LOTS more scenes with the autobots actually fighting the decepticons, and there was nowhere near enough of that. 10, maybe 15 minutes in a near 3 hour movie. Not good enough.

As for the transformers themselves, it kind of bugged me that yet again, prime and bumblebee pretty much do everything themselves. Why not give us more autobots?? Or at least make good use of the ones we already have. Ironhide, supposedly the ''weapons specialist'' and prime's oldest friend, did pretty much nothing in the first two movies....here he finally gets a chance to show his bad-ass fighting skills only to be bumped off two minutes later and never mentioned again. Sideswipe is almost anonymous ( like he has been since his ONE good scene at the start of ROTF ).....mirage, the main ''new'' addition, gets one good scene on the freeway ( which i actually thought was the best part of the movie ) and nothing else. It's just laughable, a handful of autobots faced with a HUGE decepticon attack force, and prime and bumblebee pretty much roll them over on their own with a little help from the humans. Towards the end i was genuinely hoping there would be some sort of ''here comes the cavalry'' scene, where a few new autobots came crashing down to help out.

The decepticons dont fare any better, megatron is just a disfigured wuss and starscream is wasted again( they should have done something with him and megatron, seriously ), having sam kill him was a joke.

I just found myself getting seriously bored towards the end, and i really hope that the next transformers movie, assuming there is going to be one, is nothing like this.

Went to see it last night and very mixed feelings. Great effects, lots of action, and it's definitely pure popcorn entertainment.

In saying that, that's what you expect from a Bay TF movie. I didn't find it particularly memorable, the plot holes were ridiculous and the film did seem to drag a bit. I still don't find Sentinel Prime's sudden turnaround believable.

I'd give it a 6/10

I didn't even think his betrayal was so unbelievable. Only that he was suddenly 100% evil when he turned.

Totally. I can see his flawed logic in having some kind of merger with the decepticons, but to suddenly go from being a Prime to killing humans and autobots with reckless abandon? It made no sense at all. If they had even given him a ridiculous motivation of sorts (e.g. he thought autobots abandoned him, or humans stripped him for parts on the moon, etc) it might have helped.

evil?
they're in a war and he had his motivations which no doubt had him believing he was the hero of the story.

pure evil, would be a stretch.
Even if he didn't spare Optimus in their encounter...

Just that for a Prime he seemed a little too quick to be cool with enslaving another race. I assume the entire war just took its toll on him. As it did Optimus, but he showcased it by massacring the enemies trying to do it.
