According to the poll on the homepage 24% say Micheal Bay. I hope they are f'n joking.
Anyway, Guillermo Del Toro had some interest in Thor, he would be a logical choice which is why Marvel/Disney won't consider him.

So, is it official that Branagh is not coming back? I'm sorry I haven't followed the news about Thor's sequel. |

Matthew Vaughn did a good job with XFC and was originially gonna direct the first one. I think he'd be a solid choice.
But then he'd probably end up leaving the X-men franchise and FOX brings in someone like Ratner in. |

I like Vaughn's work on First class and Stardust, I can see him on Thor.

There wouldn't be enough car chases and/or blowing s*** up in Thor. I seriously doubt Michael Bay would be interested.
I think Michael Newell would be an interesting choice. Of the non-Chris Columbus directed Harry Potter films, Goblet of Fire is my favorite. I loved First Class, so Vaughan would be good too. |

Me too. He's shown he can handle both Sci-Fi & fantasy very well.

Vaughn is also a trendy pick who won't happen. I would like to see Marvel go a bit more out of the box than fanboy trendy picks.

He's really not trendy with Thor, he was after all attached to Thor, and if I'm not mistaken he was included in all the contributing writers for Thor.

I've no idea who it should be(sure hope Branagh still remains attached to the project as a producer at least). Matt Reeves would be an interesting choice, but then I throw his name in the hat for almost any Marvel movie.

I know he was attached to Thor before, but he is trendy to pick now. People recommend him for all comic films now. It's like all the DC people who say "just have Nolan do it" all the time. I don't see anyway Marvel asks him to direct it, since they had a falling out. Also, Marvel would have to pay him more than someone else, more than likely.

I don't even know what they had cut at that time. Remember there was a writer's strike going on then as well as his contract lapsing, he may have decided to move on after his contract lapsed during that time and Marvel decided not to pursue him THEN.

I'm sure we'll hear something sooner or later. Just seems to me once you're attached to a Marvel film you have say in future films, no matter really who you are.

True, but I am not sure how involved he will be going forward with Thor. Like I said, that bickering he and Ratner did on Twitter was VERY unprofessional. I don't care what you think about X3, what Vaughn did to Ratner (because he is prob bitter Ratner "ruined" the film he was making) was uncalled for. As was Ratner's reply. But, that showed me how petty Vaughn can be. I am not sure Marvel is in his favor.
