I'm that person. I wasn't saying that she must feel that way, just that if she signed on for sequels it is more likely than not in my opinion that she considered the specifics of the role for any potential sequels when making her decision. But, you are correct, her opinion about the make-up may mean nothing, and she could end up doing it because she's contracted to, or she could end up not doing it because the filmmakers made a creative choice not to include her, or the character could appear but be recast as FilmNerdJamie said. We're all just hypothesizing here.

There goes any reason for me to watch GI Joe 2. Levitt was the only really good part of the first movie.

The Wolverine is coming out next for sure and I feel they will do X-men Second class and Third class and finish its story arc then they can move on to X4 and X5. Storm can get older cos she was older in the comic anyway. Hugh Jackman aged well so I don't see a problem. Don't forget that Anna, Ben and even Aaron are more popular than ever.
I disagree. They should do X4/5 before getting all the way to a First Class 3. The First Class crowd can age as the story progresses through the years, but our old cast isn't getting any younger.

Alan Cumming didn't like the makeup but wasn't In The Last Stand due to them dropping the character of Nightcrawler because he only had a small part In script.

The First Class sequel would be set In late 1960's or early 1970's based on what the producers and Matthew Vaughn has said. The First Class actors had sequels In their contracts.Yes they are times when contracts are Ignored but not always.Considering the past It's more a question on who they want to bring back.

In the past I have said If X4/X5 become more than Talk and a First Class trilogy happens, which we know now Fox Is discussing,I could see them do a early 1970's set sequel then do X4/X5 and then move on to complete the first Class trilogy which jumps to 1980's allowing the cast to get a bit older.

Jennifer didn't even bother at first about X-men as it is not her style of film. Amber Heard and another model were contenders. Amber Heard is not a bad actress and in sequel she will have less scenes in human disguise, so perhaps she could be recast. Unless Fox wants her name in the movie and that's when she has to come back. The problem is scheduling conflict with other actors. Michael is getting more works and Nicholas is also with Jack, the giant killers.

It's a shame that he didn't get to come back. It would have been nice to at least see him briefly in the movie leaving the X-men.

Kelly Hu was also signed for The Last Stand. She would have been great in Bryan Singer version.

I think Deadpool is a bit far off. I am not sure Fox is comfortable with Ryan Reynolds being a leading man and making a hit movie, he has yet to do that.

Yes. But typically people are signed on for multiple films for movies like this, and a lot of times that gets confused with wanting to bring the actor and character back.

When I read about that film, about who's directing it and how many actors aren't returning and the new people they've cast, I literally laughed for 5 minutes.

The whole movie sounds laughable!!!

As far as the sequel announcement goes, I don't know what to say. I'd be surprised if they announced it anytime soon or at all. Business-wise its not exactly the best idea to invest more money in a movie that might not generate their desired revenue.

The Wolverine will get made because of Jackman. They're probably expecting another $180 Domestic with a 140-150 Million investment + decent money overseas.

With First Class 2 they'd be taking a huge gamble. Yeah, Fassbender will be up for Best Actor in February for A Dangerous Method and Lawrence will explode onto her new franchise, but even those factors don't guarantee a sure profit for the studio. The only formula that seems to be a sure bet is the Jackman/Wolverine formula - where the studio can even make money if the film is crap.

Right now, the studio's thinking - people barely connected with First Class, so why would they connect with a sequel to it?

Same thing with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Are people really gonna wanna see a sequel to Mark Steven Johnson's movie? Sony's taking a huge risk there.

I see Fox, sadly, passing on a First Class 2. But if I'm wrong and we do get one in 3 years, I'll be pleasantly surprised

Does anyone else think that the lukewarm success of Superhero movies this year might be an overall factor.

The reason why movies like Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor and all other less iconic superheroes were made into films was the overwhelming success of the X-men, Spider-man and Batman movies.

But with Iron man being the only real break out B-lister I wonder if a softening trend will cause Fox to kind of ignore the superhero game, they've always been relatively weak at it anyway (x-men has been their only success). Unless Captain America does really well, we might start to see a downtrend in this genre after next year.

Obviously the Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, Amazing Spider-man and Man of Steel are still happening but those are all bigger names and went into production before this weak summer.

If Superhero movies are becoming less desirable then X-men will probably be one of the first to go. Maybe, maybe not.

Wolverine pumps her body full of adamantium, to the extent it comes out of her eyes. It's one thing for the body to heal itself. It's another to dispose of that much indestructible metal, especially when their healing factors don't seem to rid their bodies of the adamantium already on their bones. Could she return? Possibly. But that would be a heck of a stretch.

If anything, the lukewarm success is due to too many films being released. It's making people turn off. Plus, these are tough economic times so people are picking and choosing films (and opting for the feelgood action movies like Pirates, Hangover and Transformers).

I do think there are a lot of superhero movies as well. After X-Men, I was thinking 'ugh, there is Green Lantern and Captain America yet, as well as Cowboys & Aliens, that's a lot of comic book stuff'.

Too much of anything makes people start to switch off.

I don't think Fox will ignore the genre, as they have Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, The Wolverine, etc, all in the pipeline. Not sure where they stand with ownership of rights and how often they have to make stuff, but that could be an influence.

I doubt it, though they need to think carefully about what they're doing. They should spend very little on the lesser-known properties, so they are more likely to be profitable, and go all out on the explosive action spectacle (while keeping cast costs down) with the bigger properties.

In my modest opinion, I think the X-men saga will become bigger and bigger with each sequel, specially with the First Class trilogy.

Time will tell if Im right or not.

While I loved this movie, I still feel like we said all we needed to say with this movie, and I'd rather see X4 than a sequel to this. I don't think it needs one.

I gotta dissagree and say the opposite. We really don't need an X4. If we were to ever get one and let's say, they based it on Days of Future Past, then I would be all for it, but nevertheless still deem it unnecessary.

The trilogy has been closed for 5 years now and it really doesn't need to be re-opened. Again, I'd be game for an aged Jackman Wolverine traveling in time to save the world, but if we're talking about need for continuations.

^THAT needs a sequel. Badly. Not to mention it would cost half of what X4 would.

No, that doesn't need a sequel. The film was about the journey of Xavier and Magneto becoming the men they become. We don't need to expand upon this. We know what happens now, they are rivals for years and clash in the modern times. We don't need a sequel to expand upon this. The interesting part of the story of Magneto and Xavier has just been told. I don't think a sequel adds anything. Now, an X4 might get that series back on track and continuing in a good manner.

Also, yes...it would cost less than X4 would. But, flipside is...less BO ceiling. FC, while successful, has made less than the other X-films (except for X1, but X1 would probably be higher if inflation was included).

no movie needs a sequel.

Its just the studio wanting to continue a franchise and getting more money.

and many of us are fans of the x-men, and many loved this prequel, so a sequel would very well wellcome.

Guys, remember not to post bootlegged pictures from the movie. There is a sticky about it, and you all should know that is a no-no for the site. Bootlegged footage includes still images.

I couldn't disagree more. Although we saw Magneto and Xavier part ways, and Xavier become paralysed, this is one of the few comic book movies where I was left wanting to know where the story goes next.

What happens over those 30-40 years before the end of First Class and the start of X1? Clearly, something must have happened, Magneto wouldn't have gone into hiding for three or four decades (Did he set up Genosha?). Who will be recruited by Xavier and also by Magneto? Will we see Magneto's children? Does Moira return? What makes Beast go into politics? What becomes of Havok and Banshee, who are absent by the time of X1? What becomes of Emma, Riptide, Azazel and Angel, who are absent from the Brotherhood by the time of X1? At what point do Cyclops, Jean and Storm enter the picture? Do Magneto and Xavier have to work together again (perhaps building the new Cerebro, to help defeat an even greater threat)?

With prequels, you know how the story ends but this is one of the few where it left enough scope for more details to be filled in (while also wrapping up enough main plot points, just in case there isn't a sequel).

It's difficult to know how they will proceed. Singer's busy on Jack the Giant Killer and Matthew Vaughn has gone quiet, and the studio is saying nothing publicly and has made no decisions at this point (though they are definitely considering where the story might go next, as I found out).

If they do an X4/X5 (as well as, or instead of, a First Class sequel) it needs to be balls-to-the-wall epic. Ideally, I'd love to see Spielberg or Bay exec-producing this franchise to get the most bang for the buck. It's clear that - in this grim economic times - people want to see spectacle and the X-Men can deliver that.

I just don't see what it adds that continuing the series itself wouldn't. The prequel had the unique chance of showing Xavier and Magneto as friends. Sequels won't have that. Now they're enemies and it is basically just like having the series as if it was going, only in the 60s and less drama cause we know who can't die. Do we need films just to show how Nightcrawler was conceived, etc? I don't think so. I'd rather they just keep the series going.

And, for the record...I think FC was the only film I think got the spirit of X-Men. I have many problems with X1-X3 and Wolverine. As I have said before, I rate X1 - 3/5, X2 - 3.5/5, X3 - 2.5/5, and Wolverine - 1/5...while FC I give a 4.5/5. I enjoyed this FAR more than any other X-Men film. But, I still don't feel we need a sequel.

You could say the same about EVERY sequel ever produced in Hollywood dating back to Godfather Part II. "We don't need to see Michael's life as a Don, we already saw him become The Don, etc..."

The Magneto that we got in the trilogy was MILES below the man pictured above. McKellen is a fantastic actor, but the pathos and dread and pain that Fassbender brought to the character warrants further tales of his endeavours. *Everyone I've watched First Class had no idea who Fassbender was and loved him to death in the movie. I've been a fan since Hunger so I was happy to hear him receive mainstream praise

Again, why would we rather see a story set decades after a film released 5 years ago than a movie which can open the year after Eric becomes Magneto, in which he kills JFK? Not to mention you throw in a third party (ala X2) like Sinister or Shadow King to make it juicier.

I agree 100% that First Class did not find the audience it needed to for the studio to wanna turn it into a franchise of its own. But I also don't see the studio greenlighting an X4 that would cost more than Spider Man 3, even if Bryan Singer were to volunteer to direct.

At the end of the day this is all about safely churning out a profit. First Class 2 isn't a safe way to go, but neither is X4 IMO. That's why I don't see them backing down with Jackman's Japan film. The Jackman/Wolverine formula is their only safe bet for now.

While X4 would probably find its audience through Jackman and potentially Singer, I don't see them greenlighting it for monetary reasons alone.

In my opinion, I don't even think we needed X-Men: First Class to expand on what was told to us about their relationship through the main 3 movies. I still feel that it was the most unnecessary movie of the series, and added the least to the overall story. I have a complete story of the X-Men movie saga without it.

It just so happened that it turned out to be one of the better movies in the series.

I honestly don't think that anymore sequels of any kind are "needed" for this series. If the series ended right now, and no more X-Men movies were ever made, I think it'd be a complete story, and I'd be happy having gotten 5 movies.

But if they do decide to make an X-Men 4, then I hope they are done with First Class, because I think one of the dumbest things they could do is bounce back and forth between post The Last Stand sequels, and First Class sequels every couple years.
