I feel like Sif got all Hogun's lines in the first one. He's meant to be the straight man of the group!

But then, Sif wasn't really like Sif in the first film. Her personality was more like Barda. (even more so in the deleted scenes)

I read Sif as being a lot more dour. Jaimie's Sif has a playful cheeky side I don't associate with Sif. I'm trying to think of the last time Sif seemed like a fun girl to be around.

The comparisons between Sif and Barda are obvious but Barda finds more joy in what she does. That smirk when Sif is atop the destroyer struck me as a very Barda-ish thing to do. The way she had to be held back when going for Loki is very Barda-ish. Sif is a character that plays by the rules or within the rules. She knows her place and doesn't strike me as a character who would be that revolutionary. I can't think of a time when Sif has ever tried to counter something Odin as done. Comic Sif thinks he's wise and to be trusted because she's always been in his favour. Also, the 'Oh Please!' attutude she has is different. Like I said, she knows her place and is aware of Thor's status. Sif is more like that when Thor is in his Donald form because he's mortal and she has a sense of superiority. When he's Thor she's constantly in 'My Lord' mode.

To be fair to Jaimie though, I don't think she would have been as successful in Thor had she stayed true to those aspects of Sif's character. They would have gotten flack for making her seem like a subordinate, stern, cold 'career woman'.

Earth's Mightiest Heroes have a more accurate version of Sif (EMH have a more accurate version of everything!) but I can't imagine how the movie could use it for more than 5 minutes before she became tedious.

I thought she did alright with what she had to work with. It wasn't much. I can say the same with the warriors 3 but Frigga got far less screen time than the entire cast. I still think of the deleted scenes I've seen, some of them should have been left in with a little tweak here and there.

She made a great impression. Most people feel like she did more than she actually did. She got the kickass part especially. When you think that she took out a few frost giants in the background and only one stab of the destroyer its to Jaimie's credit that she could make more of that.

Warriors Three- Muscle/Comic Relief

Read Thor: Son of Asgard. Sif could be dour, but that was usually because she never understood Thor's attachment to silly little mortals. When she's got Thor to herself on Asgard, she's as fun and vivacious as Big Barda ever was.

As for her attitude toward Odin, think about it: She's fought tooth and nail to achieve a level of respect in a fiercely patriarchal society, and Odin has rewarded her with that respect. Unlike Thor, she doesn't have the luxury of disobeying Odin because she's his son and she knows he won't really get too mad about it. Unlike the Warriors Three, she's relatively young and doesn't have the cachet associated with having fought beside Odin himself in battle when they were all young. Unlike Balder, she's not some golden child whom everyone automatically loves. She obeys the rules and respects Odin's authority because she has a lot to lose if she doesn't.

Yeah I feel the same way, I also felt like the didn't show enough of Hogun in action in the Frost Giant & Destroyer fights.

I'd like to see Thor and Sif get paired up in the sequel. I think we really need to see just why Sif reacts so strongly to Loki's words and actions and this could lead into Thor realizing his feelings for her as Loki's dark deeds escalate. I get an inkling that of all the friends Thor has Loki dislikes Sif the most. Now I'm not a comic fan but I do know that it was Loki that deprived her of her golden hair. I guess from a psychological standpoint Loki must have it in for Sif because of maybe some pent up aggressions he has towards the female gender based upon past romantic disappointments and he's taking it out on her unfairly. Plus there's the whole jealousy thing he has for Thor and with Sif reciprocating feelings for Thor that a woman hasn't given Loki that would add an extra dimension of jealous rage in Loki. But I'm rambling aren't I?

Well, before anything substantial can take place between Thor and Sif, I think the first order in business would be resolve the relationship with Thor and Jane. From what I know, or at least heard, there was a story where Thor had taken Jane to Asgard, where she was tested by Odin to see if she was a suitable mate; unfortunately Jane had failed to pass those tests, thus eventually returned to Earth where she supposedly married someone else.

Granted, the films are always likely to take different liberties for their comic pairings (as evident as how the X Men films favored a Logan and Jean pairing over the traditional Cyclops and Jean one), we'll have to wait and see as to where Marvel decides to go with the pair.

Jaime did say though that they did film scenes for "Thor" that had hinted more towards the Sif and Thor relationship, and imho, it would have been a better touch if the person that Thor had winked at his crowning ceremony was Sif instead of his mother.lol

Be that as it may, to conclude my own rambling.lol, I think they'll start things off with Sif realizing or developing feelings for Thor first.

I hope that go down that route in some way and Jinouga, your not rambling. I agree with your post. I guess you can say I am more of a Thor/Sif fan than Thor/Jane. It will be interesting to see how the script goes and I just hope everyone has enough to work with this time around and expand on what we've seen in Thor but haven't seen yet.

You are just too generous and kind for saying that! You know I think based upon your avatar one could say you are a massive Thor/Sif pairing fanatic. You know, I was thinking of how interesting it would be to see the varied reactions between Thor and Loki concerning the choices for mates Odin approves of. Of course Thor could live with being married to Sif because it looks like he has a mutual admiration and a blossoming love for her as a woman and a warrior. Now I'm not a comic fan but in my research I've read that comic Loki is more apathetic towards Sigyn despite all the times she's more or less defended Loki and begged to relieve his suffering. I'd be interested in finding out why Loki would react this way to a woman that cares for him. It sounds to me like the affection is a one way thing with Sigyn loving him but Loki not so much feeling anything for her at all.

When Hercules falls in love with a mortal woman called Taylor Madison, the goddess Hera intervenes and attempts to kill her, although this is prevented when Ares warns Zeus.
