I have a question! How good is Arnim Zola's role? Any hint at his more bizarre comic appearance?

Ok, I saw it last night with advanced tickets. I give it a solid 8. If you liked the first Ironman then you'll like this film.

Great fight sceen on an airplane!

Strong story.

Lines of note:

Red Skull: " Arrogance is not a trait associated with Americans. You my friend wear it well."

Nick Furrey: " We wanted to ease you back into it."

C.A. "ease? into what where am I."

Furry: "You've been asleep for 70 years."

Fire away with questions. I'll be here through out the day.

Given how I've read some people saying that they enjoyed the romance in the film, I'm just curious, since the story of this film took a span of several years before the Red Skull's defeat, did Steve and Peggy become a item during the years that they had fought in the war together, or did they only become a item near the very end of Steve's tenure in the 40's?

Well it never full developes. It's a well written part of the story. Things keep coming up. That don't let them grow a full relationship.

Bummer for Cap. Is it wrong that I wish that the guy has better luck with Peggy's granddaughter, Sharon?=p

Oh, some other questions, if you don't mind:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
1. Is Captain America discovered in the present on accident, or was SHIELD looking for him in the first place?

2. Was Agent Coulson in this film? What role did he play?

3. How does the film end?

4. The New York scene between Steve and Fury is still the Post Credit's scene right?

5. Does Steve have a father-son like relationship with Dr. Erskine?

I saw this at a free screening last night in Maryland and Im half and half on this one.

Positives:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

- Chris evans did a decent job as cap but he just isnt up on the level that robert downey jr is with ironman.
- The story was decent but felt short.
- The costume was perfect for that time period.
- Hugo weaving did a good job as red skull even if he was underdeveloped.
- Howard starks role was nicely done and handled very well.

Negatives:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

- The action scenes have no emotion in them at all, alomost like noone has any worry on there face that they all might die.
- The love story was not very well done or believable.
- The CGI was very spotty and shady including the end battle. The cruella de ville car too was uneeded and gave me flashbacks to LXG.
- The 3D was not very well done and couldnt really tell given most of the movie is set in dark places.
- Why on earth do you set a movie in world war 2 and not even show nazis or hitler? or any of the historical battles?
- Why did they have to go the GI joe route too and use laser based guns and weapons.
- Too much advanced technology like used in this movie takes me out of it because I cant take it serious for that time period.
- I cant wait till the avengers stuff is over because then I can actually watch a movie properly without having to have that stuff showhorned in.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
1. He was discovered by a scientific team, but I don't remember them being part of SHIELD.

2. He wasn't in the movie.

3. The film ends with Fury and Rogers.

4. Nope, it's the last scene in the movie.

5. He has a close relationship with Erskine. It's done really well.

Someone asked about Bucky. Here's my problem with how he was handled:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
They didn't give his death enough weight. It was more of an afterthought almost. Right before he died, I actually thought the scene was foreshadowing to the end. Then...bye bye Bucky. They needed to spend more time on it. Maybe it's because they spent so much time on Erskine/Rogers and Peggy/Rogers that Bucky's relationship suffered.

Eh, that review posted on the front page was ok. But, I found some problems with it. Like WWII not being like the history books....ok, why would it be? There's Hydra and Captain America...it's kind of obvious this is a comic universe, not real life.

Second...his comment on Hydra having high-tech weapons...he later comments on the cosmic cube powering their weapons and yet he complains they are using high tech weapons. heh

I get that. It sucks, but from a filmmaking perspective they had a to make a choice: do we focus on Steve/Peggy or Steve/Bucky? Romance or bromance? There's really only room to fully develop one with serious emotional weight.

Of course I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't properly judge,

I understand that something had to be sacrificed, but I think even a few more moments with Bucky could have fixed things. The result of not spending much time with him was that it took away from the emotional weight of a scene that should have been heart-wrenching.

I think the majority of problems with Bucky and a lot of the characters is simply that the movie wasn't long enough. It definitely should have had at least another 15 minutes to give some more character development. The characters in this movie were so interesting, which is the biggest thing Captain America has over Iron Man.

Yeah -- I have to say that Bucky's apparent death didn't really get the full treatment it deserved. From a comics continuity standpoint, it would have made more sense for Bucky to have been on the plane where Cap and Skull are fighting at the end, but I understand why the writers did it the way they did. Time limitations.

And the time limitations are a shame because we have Transformers that's 150 minutes of pointless story while Captain America would've greatly benefited from that extra time.

I think for whatever reason, they probably had to make some cuts and Bucky ended up getting the shorter end of the stick. But if they make Cap 2, I think there's a chance that he'll be back (as comic fans know).

Did you not go last night? I almost yelled out "howler!" in line just to see if you were there.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
The scene where he's fighting the pilots is pretty cool. Nothing great, but he does kill a guy during that sequence.

I'm so pissed that my new dumb-s**t boss screwed up my vacation time request so it starts tomorrow instead of today so that I could see a midnight screening. Ugh! Oh well, I'll see it tomorrow for sure.
