I love the Wilhelm scream in that scene

I have a love hate relationship with how most of the fight scenes in returns are played for comedy.

I feel the same way... I don't care for the fight scenes one iota... That's one of it's big flaws for me. I can handle the spear gun yanking out the concrete block and hitting the clown... but the fight scene with the Circus Gang is just whack

That's one of the few areas where I thought the first one got it better. The fights in '89 had a real sense of danger and violence to them. They had gimmicky bits to them, but were overall serious.

The circus gang fight is so gimmicky that it makes me facepalm sometime.
Which is a shame, cause I really do prefer BR.

I love B89 and BR ending but I love BR ending more and Catwoman looking at the Batsignal what a classic.

I thought the fight midway through BR was pretty good, but that one bit where Batman ducked the staff/stick and it hit the other clown looked so awkward.

Well Batman's fighting a circus gang what did you expect?

Well BR is a different movie than B89. So the action scenes had to feel and be different. Plus again Batman is fighting a circus gang. I'm glad the action scenes were different from B89's. It would be the same crap and end up feeling repetitive and un-fresh, imo.

Oh and the fights between Batman and Catwoman never felt gimmicky. I felt there was a sense of danger and violence in those .So what about those fights scenes?

A good fight scene will always be a good fight scene, doesn't matter how many times you copy it, if it's good, it will be good

The circus gang fight was just silly. Everything from the goons Batman fights, to how he defeats them, to Elfman's cue-y music just adds a sense of comedy to the whole thing, which personally, I didn't really care for.

But I'll agree with you on the Catwoman fights, those I've always liked.

I see your point. But I'm glad Burton went with a different approach. I mean Batman's fighting a circus gang not the mob.

I remember as a kid I couldn't wait for that scene to come up. I still enjoy it. I think the sillyness is part of it's charm. And Elfman's music was perfect and added a lot of tension and energy. The many uses of his Batman theme in that scene were cool as well. That scene was exciting from start to finish. Everything from Batman making two guys head butt each other to the remote control batarang to pulling the sword out of that sword swallower's mouth. I like the pacing of it as well. It almost feels like a circus act the way Batman took them out. But to each his own. I'm glad they didn't go all B89 with it.

I was very impressed with those as a kid and still am. I don't think they used much doubles for Keaton and Pfieffer's fight scenes.

That's my main problem with it.
But, again, very rarely do bad fight scenes take away from my overall enjoyment of a film, unless they're just horrendous or it's a, yknow, fighting movie.

I'm also I think quite possibly the only person who loved the fight scenes in BB.

I like their fights as well. The real strength of Returns is in its characters, and when the fighting slows down ("help find the woman behind the cat" - "missletoe can be deadly if you eat it) the chemistry between the pair is even better.

I loved the fight scenes of Batman Begins as well. Especially in the docks scene, that was just awesome.

this

and the fight between Ra's and Bats at the end had such a ferocity in the way it was filmed, I loved it, and never had a hard time following what was going on.

I wasn't on the edge of my seat during the train fight. I kept just waiting for it to end. The reactions of the the Gothamites in between the final confrontation didn't help. To me all the fight scenes in BB were lackluster. The fight between Batman and the ninjas in particular was a huge letdown. I remember being very excited as Batman approaches Ra's and his ninjas. Thinking to myself finally a real fight. I was hoping that scene would make up for all the fight scenes but sadly didn't. It was over before it even started. Also badly edited and shot. Batman and the ninjas didn't do anything impressive for them to be ninjas.

TDK fights were better though but that ain't saying much. I still believe we haven't seen Batman at his best when it comes to action scenes.

I was happy to get this bad boy on Christmas.

I still have him today and the Kenner Batmobile/Batmissle today.

Yes it is. I got a lot of joy from that toy as a child.

That's awesome and Yes it's probably the best Batmobile built by Kenner.

is that the batmissle batmobile with the pop off side sections? I never cared for that one mainly cause the canopy on the batmissle was skinnier than the one in batmobile mode and it looked 'off' to me. the first Dark Knight Collection Batmobile with the pop out and spinning flame that came out the back and flip out machine guns was my fave Kenner Batmobile .

Yeah no kidding. Too bad I never got this.

My favorite Batman toy was the Batmobile by Kenner from the 1989 toyline. I miss the thing. I don't remember what happened to it.

To be fair, the canopy does become skinnier during the Batmissile transformation in the film as well.

You'd know this but Hot Toys are going to release a jaw droppingly beautiful Burton Batmobile this year. I'm awaiting the pricing before I do anything silly - it'd be bound to give the bank balance a hefty hit.

I want it so bad. When I was a kid I always loved that Batmobile. Even if I didn't play with it I really liked having that toy in display just because it's awesome to look at. Unfortunately the Hot Toys Batmobile is way too much for this college guy, in his early 20's that's trying to pay off his Camaro.

But without of a doubt I have to get a Keaton Batman figure. I heard that Hot Toys is going to make Batman Returns figures. Since the Returns suit is my favorite I might wait to buy that Batman figure.

true, but on that toy the car is just the batmissle with the sides still attached so you get a batmobile with a skinny canopy, also the batmissle is LONGER than the batmobile (the back section behind the cockpit extends to make room for the 2 rear wheels to sit behind each other).
