Default Kurt Johnstad, Jonah Nolan involved with Man of Steel script?

"Now that Goyer is off The Man of Steel and on to Godzilla, Snyder got Kurt Johnstad (whose his regular, go-to writer, including 300, that Last Photograph project that Bale’s attached to now originating from Snyder’s noggin and that 300 spin-off) to take over for rewrites. Jonah Nolan took a pass on it too."

Although it is yet to be confirmed, it's rumoured that Goyer's "Man of Steel" is getting tweaked by a few more writers before production begins.
Personally, I find Jonah Nolan's involvement alone to be an exciting prospect.
But what do people think of Kurt Johnstad?
He isn't particularly well-known, but if Bale is now working on a film he's written, can we expect this to be a step on the right direction for Superman?

If Jonah wrote some, I hope he got rid of some of David's cheesy lines. I hope Johnstad gets rid of some of Jonah's monologues.

His tweaking couldn't save it, but it's not his fault.

Anyway, I trust the validity of this since it's from Moviehole.

I still think Goyer is a decent writer and gets more hate then necessary. People just like to forget that he's had a big hand in the batman series that everyone seems to love and Nolan gets a free pass with the dialogue he left in the film. Anyways I'm sure its small things considering they begin filming very soon and they can't really be changing large portions of the film at this point.

I think Goyer is a good writer, but he works best in collaborations in my opinion as his style is well balanced with Nolan's.

I read that wrong at first, I thought they meant he'd passed on it. Good to know he's had a look at it.

That's how I read it too.
I wonder what elements he adds to the scripts he works on.

this script is being polished to perfection it seems. between, goyer, nolan, nolan and johnstad, what else could we ask for. if snyder can keep himself under control, then this could be a very special movie \S/

Johnstad doesn't inspire much confidence apart from the director of GWDT signing onto directing his script. Even then it's not something we can judge as it's not made. Hopefully Jonathan has a lot more to contribute because he's a great writer. Terminator didn't count because MCG hyped him up regardless of how little he actually put in a rewrite.

Well, it's not a Lex announcement or the like, but I'll take this as good news for this Sunday.

excited Johnstad work on 300 was good while 300 is not some artful masterpiece he adapted it well from the graphic novel if people have problems with 300 blame frank miller lol

and his script on last photograph must be good to get The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Director and Christian Bale and Sean Penn attached to star

The story MUST be good. It HAS to be just plain awesome. The character deserves it and has so much potentiale if done right.
No more resting on those goddamn laurels, Hollywood! Hit it outta the park and cement Superman as the worlds greatest hero once and for all.

And I have a feeling they will with the current direction.

Goyer was having a lot of trouble with this script.

i see this as good news. And yeah Jonah took a pass at terminator salvation, but i thought the story was the issue, not the individual dialogue. Which is probably all Jonah did here. Johnstad doing the rewrites instead of goyer is great though.

I remember there were rumors about the third act needing work, which wouldn't surprsie me, given the third acts of the Superman films imo tend to be the weakest parts of the Superman films .

Every script goes through re-writes. Things that a production team goes through can determine if something can or cannot be done, and even actors themselves give input. With the A-list cast of actors, I find it hard to believe they have offered no feedback on their part of the script or how a scene should play out. The script needed and was undergoing re-writes and Goyer couldn't commit himself to doing it because of Godzilla. I don't really see this as a concern about the script.

Ditto reshoots.

Amazes me how people react negatively to rewrites and reshoots all the time as if its unorthodox when it is in fact common practice. Plenty of popular movies that worked like the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Star Trek relied heavily on both and you hear people complaining there? Nope.

Most films go through rewrites to some extent, Some more then others, so it doesn't automatically mean the film is in trouble. Now if the film has like six different writers then I would be a bit worried , but i'm not bothered by the rewrites as long as they make the film stronger or tighter.
