Hey Vapor, I like all your ideas. I'd like to add an idea or two, as well as a third film idea. Basically for the green ranger to be defeated, bring in titanus for the upgrade the second film generally has. After that have Tommy go into hiding with his green powers.
Film 3 could be zedd foregoing the ranger process and attempting to forge his own zord, serpentera. It proves to work and the rangers are nearly defeated. This could either allow for a zord upgrade, including Tommy returning as the white ranger, or green Tommy returning to form the dragonzord/megazord titanus combo to finish off zedd.

I doubt this would happen.If it did it would likely be based on whatever current version is airing at the time.

More or less the tone of Abrams Star Trek is the route I would go with the whole thing. Light PG-13, some actual peril, a little profanity, etc. Not so much that kids can't watch it, but you know.

If I was doing it I also would probably cut out that Ranger switch that happened. YOu know when Rocky replaced Jason, Adam replaced Zack, and Aisha replaced Trini.

and then make the suits more armor-esque like in the movie rather than cloth

Im not gonna lie, even though this is all speculation and wishing Im really in a Power Rangers mood and wish a cinematic reboot was coming soon

There was actually a lot of sex and death if you go back and watch the first couple of seasons of the 90's show. I think it could go as far as pg-13 and still remain true to the source.

I've been working on a screenplay for a while cause I've had the exact same idea about a reboot ever since seeing "Star Trek" (though I don't know what I'm gonna do with it). It could work if handled right. I've got the perfect trilogy in mind too.

All my ideas basically try its best to explain everything that was in the show, like why those kids specifically, where the Zords came from, etc. I haven't touched it in a while, but this thread just prompted me to get back to writing it.

I just assumed that this type of thing happened every millenia and that there were certain people on Earth or around the universe chosen. Either they had some gift or were descendants of previous ones.

Funny how Zordon said get a teenager team with attitude. You'd think they were bad ass or something. But no, they held charities and participated in fund raisers on their spare time.

I think they should be chosen based on how many hours they've clocked in at the local youth center.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe their suits could work the same a Green Lantern's suit works. Maybe some sort of device which contains a special type of protective armor which activates whenever they decide to morph and go into serious combat mode.

Yeah they should get chosen for a respective trait like bravery, smarts,etc. FOr example, Zack is chosen because of his bravery, Jason for his strength. Stuff like that.

It'd also be cool imo if they gave each of the Rangers their own Martial Arts style. Like Jason could be Karate, someone could be Kung Fu, someone could use kickboxing, someone could use Krav Maga (I love Krav Maga),

Green Lantern is actually the perfect approach, because that's basically what Power Rangers is based on (arguably): Green Lantern times 5.

Someone is chosen by an alien intelligence to become a superhero and fight evil as a space cop - GREEN LANTERN.

Five teens are chosen from an alien intelligence to become superheroes and fight evil as a team of space cops - POWER RANGERS.

Guardian of Oa = Zordon

A reboot film would largely consist of a dangerous threat that is winning against Zordon, his sidekick Alpha 5 (basically C3-PO, the bumbling butler who is comic relief), and the threat is either Rita Repulsa or Lord Zedd, Goldar, the Putty Patrol, etc.

Star Wars could be a HUGE influence on this (or benchmark):

Zordon = Obi-Wan Kenobi (or Yoda)
Alpha 5 = C3-PO
Lord Zedd = Darth Vader
Putty Patrol = Storm Troopers
Power Rangers = Any combination of Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Lando Calrissian

The entire screenplay/franchise basically writes itself.

I actually conceptualize the MMPR reboot to be based around the Metal Gear franchise. It's pretty obvious to me:

Zordon = Col. Campbell
Alpha 5 = 'Otacon' Hal Emmerich
Lord Zedd = Revolver Ocelot (or Liquid Snake) (or Liquid Ocelot)
Putty Patrol = Genome Soldiers
The Monsters = Rogue FOX-HOUND or Dead Cell members
Power Rangers = Any combination of Solid Snake and Raiden
