Eilxir disappeared because he knew who/what Hope was. Well considering AVX is in full swing I cannot see the point of using this as an excuse of not bringing him back.

that is not why he disappeared bc he found out in Messiah War and remained for 2 more arcs after that. We already found out who and what Hope is. Elixir is kinda irrelevant to that plot at this point

I dont get why they just dont give him limits. Actually the last thign done with him was just that when they had his powers go haywire and he had trouble controlling his death touch as well. That only made him a more viable character as he'd have to be more careful about healing for fear of hurting the person he was trying to help.

It's why I resent all the kids in Gen Hope; aside from the fact that I think Hope sucks. They pushed a lot of the Academy X kids into limbo, then gave us that horrible Guggenheim run but want me to read a book about some weird blue girl and a guy named "Velocidad". No sir!

This issue was just great. Can Aaron take over and write the X-Men instead?

I love this book. Gambit and X-Treme, too. X-books haven't been this much fun in a long time.

Did they ever show the mutants from Utopia coming back over to Westchester or do we just infer it from the events in AvX?

I really like this book. Yes Wolverine overkill does my head in but this book is just what Uncanny should have been before the move to utopia.

Is this book getting cancelled in the aftermath of AvX? I'm still trying to decide whether or not I should stay with Uncanny only, or start up on this again. And is it an essential read for those currently reading AvX?

Wolverine and the X-Men is sticking around after AvX, however Uncanny X-Men is ending in October and being replaced by All-New X-Men by Brian Michael Bendis. And I would call this book a necessary read for AvX only if you care about more characterization than what we got from the main series.
