Im planning to do a Catwoman article. Full history like with the Joker is out of the question, that thing took me many months to research and make sure everything I say is correct. So Ill do Catwoman onscreen kind of a thing sometime, although I limp in the TV show department a bit

Please do it. It'll probably be the best Catwoman article ever written.

I know it's available in two trade paperbacks...

Batman: The Dark Knight Archives (Volume 4)

http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Knight-...667765&sr=1-12

and

The Batman Chronicles (Volume 8)

www.amazon.com/Batman-Knight-Archives-Archive-Editions/dp/1563899833/ref=sr_1_12?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1336667765&sr=1-12

They seem to be difficult to find and expensive enough. There are some on ebay though.

It's also available digitally for $1.99: http://www.comixology.com/Batman-15/...omic/ICO000815

Sorry but imo Michael Keaton was the best Batman/Bruce Wayne, he had the air of someone who could go out at night dressed as a bat, and had the presence as the bat. But I agree, Nolan made the better films. Just an opinion, I think i'm a bit biased because I remember the bashing Keaton got at first for playing Batman, not many people realised how dark he was going to play it.

One more vote for Keaton. There is a stillness when he's Batman -- the only thing moving is his eyes, and even though he isn't that expressive under that rubber mask, you could still sense his emotional state. He had the voice down too: whisper-quiet but you can tell every word counts, so you better listen. He manages to convey utter menace as Batman. Bale in the costume is pretty much ruined by the voice -- it's just so awful it overshadows the caped performance.

As for Bruce Wayne, I liked Keaton's portrayal of him as a diffident guy. Every part of him is 100% invested in the caped identity, but the playboy persona is unimportant. He is slightly forgetful, removed, almost like an absent minded professor with his head in the clouds. The problem with Bale's BW is that it reminds me too much of his performance in American Psycho, undertones that freaked me out and not in the way intended.

I will give props to Bale in one area: he resembles the comics portrayal of him much more than Keaton.

Nothing against Bale, but Keaton is the still the best Batman. It was unexpected that Keaton could pull off the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman because prior to making the 89 Batman, he had primarily been seen as a comedic actor, but Keaton took the role and owned it.

I love Keaton as Batman, but I think Bale's a better Bruce Wayne,at least character wise. We never really knew too much or got into Bruce's head when Keaton played him. It was mostly about Batman and the villians. But Bale's showed more emotional depth as Bruce Wayne,I think anyway. Of course,I think Nolan's series is alot more deeper than Burton's. But Burton's is probably alot more fun. I certainly love Keaton's look as Bats too. Never cared much for the suit when Bale is wearing it.

If we took various actors from batman films or TV and Imaged them when reading comics
don't you think Keaton would be Ideal Batman but Bale Ideal Bruce Wayne.

When we're able to perfect cloning, we'll have that.

Much as I like Keaton and Bale Batman voice but I image Conroy when I read comics so yeah I agree with you.

The questions a bit tough. Imo, Conroy's voice and attitude is the best, Bale's Batman is the most well rounded , i.e. there are three sides to him , he has the best motivation , and he physically suits the part better than all the other actors imo, however I like Keaton's intensity in B89.

But since we're talking personal tastes i'd have to go with Bale, though Keaton will always be my generation's Batman.

Not only does Bale give a better take on Bruce Wayne/Batman, but there isn't a single role in Keaton's entire career that was on par with Bale's performance in those films.

That's harsh. I thought we all could agree Keaton's Beetlejuice is fantastic.
