Nice job. First ever manip of Cavill in the traditional costume that does not look cheesy to me.
That works really nicely.

It doesn't look cheesy because it is Classic. Just like a Barcelona, or Eames chair it is timeless. It has a complete and cohesive look that virtually all of the alternate costumes seem to lack, and I'm not saying that just because it has the trunks. It just looks better. All they need to do is find fabrics that respect that look, but at the same time give it a totally fresh vibe. The new Spider-man costume demonstrates brilliantly how you can keep an established time tested look, and yet make it look very contemporary. Even the trunks on that manip of Henry are perfect. Not too high like Granny pants and not so low as to look like Manties or hot pants. The traditional belt loops also show that the axiom K.I.S.S.(keep it simple stupid) is right on the money when it comes to Superman's look. This to me is 100% authentic. One other thing. That is the perfect build for Superman, Ripped but not roided out

If Cavill and the Suit can look as good as that manip then I have no issues with them using the classic suit instead of the new suit.

I don't think Cavill will ever look as muscular and ripped as that, nor will a bodysuit or lighting be able to capture that look for every frame of the film. But he may be able to approach it.

This is awesome. If the suit looks like this, then classic would be the way to go.
This pose would be even cooler if his feet were pointed downward as if he were hovering, pissed off about to cause some serious damage. |

And stickers over the nipples.
They'd have to have him in very hard lighting the whole time, as well. He'd still have to be body-builder ripped for it to show as distinctly as it is in that pic and comics, though....and in order to actually look big and imposing, he'd have to put on a lot of mass. Better start poppin' that HGH.

i'm not talking just about the cling im also talking about a non textured suit that doesn't have a bunch of seams and also doesn't look ridiculous
loose the big yellow (button?) and design

it's IMPOSSIBLE to get see the type of muscle definition that comics convey through any suit unless it's done GL style, which i'm sure everyone is against, but you CAN get good muscle definition through the suit without anything fancy...

Yeah, I'm thinking that they'll have some musculature enhancements built into the costume to totally sell the Superman look as seen in the comics. I don't have a problem with that to be honest, and if the suit has to be airbrushed in certain areas to give even more definition, I say bring it on. They'll likely have many different specialty versions of the costume to suit (no pun intended) the particular scene being shot. Just like SR and S:TM used different weight capes throughout those movies. Last edited by Stephen K. Hone; 07-24-2011 at 03:53 PM. |

neither would i, if he wore it just for one scene to enhance the drama of the moment it would be fine
they could even just use CGI enhancements isnt the base model for this picture a football player wearing under armor

I just hope the material used is not too restricting like the SR suit's was.

That looks like a painting. A very good one, but not a real suit.

It looks like a painting because it is one. Or, at least, it's not a picture of a real suit.
