bright gold belt like batman gold only a bit lighter, under armor style fabric, a regal looking symbol, and nice boots that don't look like weird track shoes a'la returns could build for a nice suit

I, for one, am happy that Snyder has armored up Superman. The classic suit has been way overused. It's time for a re-touch. I'm not saying that I hope Snyder will make Superman into Thor but a light armor touch should suffice.

what kind of armor, hard plastic/rubber is a no go for me
heavy fabric armor maybe a little not opposed to change as long as it looks good and the butt load of seams on the new suit does not look good with all that blue

Yea, I don't want rubber/plastic either. Some fabric armor would probably work but I get the feeling Snyder is going another way.

Wait, I thought you guys were talking about Snyder's public Q&A from a year ago. When someone asked Snyder about the Superman suit, Snyder replied something about redesigning it a bit and adding some armor -- What kind? I don't know.

Oh yes sir, it did. I'm on an iTouch at the present moment but I'll post it as soon as I get to my laptop. On that note, has Zack stated anything else about the suit, and/or story as of late?

I don't remember that at all, I can't recall Snyder saying anything about armor ever. I do remember him saying which superman artists he liked...Classic is the vibe I got but who knows

When the general audience (who don't read comics) sees a Superman in "armor", they're going to think it a joke.

If presented to him, would Clark say "No thanks, I don't need it. I can just make a cheap imitation from blankets"?

What about a thick-fabric battle suit like Cap? In the comics, he wears spandex, but they changed it for the film, and it looks fantastic. I'd like to see a similar take -- either manipped or, even better, really made -- to evaluate whether it could work. It's not armor.
EDIT: Comics ![]() 90's film ![]() Modern film

Why would JorEl send his son armor if he knows he's not going to need it or have any practical use for it? Did anyone think to realize that a suit of armor "made from kryptonian elements" could have the same affect on him as kryptonite?

it's ceremonial armor isn't it? i think it looks great in the right hands. of course he doesn't need armor, but he wants it to look kryptonian.

Why would Martha Kent make him a suit with underoos and spandex? Both are equally ridiculous, and make equal sense.

I dunno..If they are gonna change him so much in the comics, then they might as well go ahead and give him a mask while they're at it.
I mean after all, it's silly for folks to not know clark and supes are one and the same.

Don't present Kryptonian armor to Superman in the script and don't give him armor of any kind.

There must be a pretty good reason why Jor-El would give him the armour. We just don't know that fully yet.

They don't really have to discuss the what, wheres, and whys of the suit. I mean they could, but they don't need to. Either way, does it really matter? its all ridiculous, it's a guy with a red cape, red boots, and a blue suit with a giant S on his chest.

EDIT: I actually think the new DC suit lends itself more to that kind of approach. The classic suit, with the wide collar and underwear, would probably end up looking weird/wrong. Last edited by routhman; 07-25-2011 at 12:54 PM. |
