It is indeed better the second time. So much more is awesome the second time you see it because you can soak everything in more.

Uh, since my boss made up the policy. You gonna pay? You're holding up my line of one other person. You can't afford your milk, step aside. What, daddy didn't give you enough milk money? Little baby gonna cry about it? Just step aside.

Agreed. I saw it again today, this time in 2D, and I enjoyed it much more. But the first ten minutes do go by very slowly.

^I'm sure it's (A) because most of the people who wanted to see it did last weekend, and (B) because Captain America just opened. I was a little bummed out to read about the drop, but hey, it's not like this hurts their chances of making more Harry Potter movies.

That is a big drop but I was expecting it to make 50-60 it's second weekend so it's not that terrible. Event movies always have huge drop offs. Plus, when a movie makes $170 million in 3 days, haha it's going to have a large drop the next weekend.

It should cross $300 million domestic this week as well as cross $1 billion worldwide this week...which is amazing.

Still if wom was better anything less than 60 million is bad . The percentage drop was larger than Green Lantern

Word of mouth has been great, though, as far as I know or have experienced.

What is better:

a) A movie that makes $170 million it's first weekend and has a 71% drop the second weekend.

or

b) A movie that makes $40 million it's first weekend and has a 50% drop the second weekend.

Some people mistake percentages as based on legs/wom. A movie that makes $5 million opening weekend and then $4 million it's second weekend technically has fantastic legs. But, what if it cost $30 million to make? What if it didn't have any real competition it's second weekend? There are a lot of factors to take into account to determine the success of a film. Harry Potter made back it's budget opening weekend. It's going to cross $1 billion worldwide in around 14 days. That is a huge success.

A 71% drop from a $168 million opening weekend is nothing to fret over. Most movies don't even reach $48 million in their opening weekend.

Potter did have good WOM but basically any casual fan with an interest saw it last weekend along with the hardcore fans. I mean I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't tell anyone whose only seen a couple of the movies or none to go see it because they'd be lost unless they got a crash course on the series.

This % drop is super inflated due to the huge fan rush on OW, this movie is just acting like a regular Potter movie now.

Not like it matters. The first part made a billion dollars, and there isn't going to be another movie.

It's opening weekend was also 3x's that of GL. What's your point?

If a movie can make 170 mil in 3 days (not to mention 40 mil in midnight showings), a 70% drop the following weekend isn't THAT big of a deal.

This is a similar pattern compared to the Potter movies anyway.

The drops don't matter when everyone's already seen your film lol.

Oh no. Now they may not make a sequel.

Oh, wait.

Seriously. It's made $834 million worldwide in just over a week. The entire series has made more than $7 billion.

The only place it goes from here is up.

Saw the movie last night. I quite enjoyed it, even though I've only had a passing interest in the series.

The drop is just because everyone went out to see it during its OW, not because people hated it. Nothing to fret about.

I watched the movie last night in 3D and just LOVED every moment of it. It was bittersweet since this was the last movie though.

Universal Orlando is having a "Celebration of the Harry Potter Films" week in November, and apparently part of the swag if you buy the vacation package is a blu-ray HP box set.

Maybe that's the tentative blu-ray/DVD release date for DH2?

Here are the details, sounds pretty cool. If I wasn't already going back next year, I'd be tempted:

I think I am going to go danoyse! Thanks for the info! I have been wanting to go and well I guess that seals the deal. A chance to meet the cast, get the entire bluray package (which you know is going to cost well over $100, and finally see the park. Now to find someone to go with bwahahahhahaha.

It sounds like an awesome deal. And the park is a blast, you'll have a great time!

One of my friends works with this Disney travel group, and they've got the place rented out for a night in December. Two of my friends are going to do that.

If I didn't already have a big family trip planned to Universal and Disney next year, I'd be going to one of these myself.
