Sad, but true.

Nobody ever said the Marvel/Disney guys were intelligent.

I wish the Insidious Six parted their own ways after they got tired of Kingpin instead of returning to him for no apparent reason

Censorship, forbids the title character from punching in the face, but every tool could be used as a weapon to attack, including damaged property

I really think the censorship really narrowed down the action scenes. It was more pro wrestling than actual throwdowns. Spidey almost never used his surroundings and there was nothing but throwing, throwing things at each other, grappling, bear hugs, and light kicks that only lasted for about a minute.

The show also made Spidey weak when it came to taking a hit. He gets shoved into a wall once by Rhino or swing into a statue by Carnage and is out cold?

How weak Spider-Man is there (when he has a sidekick mostly) and being Kingpin's rubber duck is painful, I compare it to TSSM Spidey when he gets squeezed, he's very good and funny, escapes and quips

The censorship on this show, resulting in watered down fight scenes, was ridiculous and is one of the reasons it hasn't aged well.

Yeah it was ridiculous considering what other shows around that time got away with.

Gargoyles had Elisa Maza get shot. Batman had Matt Hagen get chemicals forced down his throat, had Jack Ryder get thrown into a vat of unknown chemicals, and had Comm Gordon get shot. In X-men Sabretooth actually slashed and cut Wolverine in the stomach, even if there was no blood shown.

People being shot, gutted and forcibly mutated being shown to happen, and Spider-Man is rarely allowed to throw punches?

I think it was a combination of whiny soccer moms and overseas distributors refusing to distribute some of those other shows based on content. Believe it or not, the old Ninja Turtles cartoon of the late 80s/early 90s had its name changed to "Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles" in some foreign countries since "ninja" was seen as a negative word (or at least having a negative association) and in later seasons Mikey lost his nun-chucks & was forced to make do with a lame grappling hook, simply because nun-chucks are illegal in some countries (yet guns are readily available).

Yeah, that was truly ridiculous. And the whole green goblin bridge scene with the teleport was kinda lame. I mean, Mary Jane dropped from the bridge and in a clumsy way accidently getting sucked in to the teleport, how goofy was that?

Soccer moms also complained about Power Rangers and complained about Lord Zedd being "too scary". Which led to the show toning him down later on.

And this is why soccer moms should be ignored.

You know what I don't get about Scorpion in that cartoon? How inconsistent he is
1. Wants revenge on Spider-Man
2. Further mutation, goes berserk, wants cure and vengeance, gets caught
3. He's human and smaller all of a sudden compared to the giant Scorpion man he became the further he mutated, instead of giving good resolution to his story, his return is unexplained
4. Wants to be cured
5. F*** being cured, again not explained, with all the babble in that show you'd expect further explaining of Scorpion

And the way Spidey defeated Scorpion the first time is pretty similar to the way he did it in Spider-Friends, except the inferior show did it a whole lot better
